Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I posted recently asking about the E crofting diode mod in an attempt to cure an intermittent harsh ride. Tantalisingly the car would sometimes be super super smooth and then the next minute become very harsh, particularly over drain covers, broken surfaces etc.

Oh my where to start.. Ok i have a 54 plate Xsara Picasso Desire 2L HDI with 362504 miles on the clock i have had her from new and shes still full of beans.. However the road gods have not been nice to my girl in the last month..

Rang up GT to ask for a poly v belt and was asked whether I had a Sanden or Delphi compressor, how do I find out which one is fitted and where is it located.

I've got a 1735mm belt fitted at takeover, which spells a Sanden, but I don't trust what's given. I can't recognise the compressor from the label - it's a thin band and quite worn. I can tell from the label, capacity is 9 fl oz. it has in bold 5290 on the label

My auto gearbox has been slipping a bit between 1st and 2nd gear so I took my car to a Citroen garage who tried and failed to read any diagnostics from the Transmission Control Unit... ECU version not supported error :(

They claimed that the slipping is nothing to worry about and that it will be fine so, knowing they are wrong, I took the car to...

The throttle position sensor on a c8 is fastened to the wiper mechanism under the scuttle panel. A diesel does not have a throttle flap, and the faulty device is just a potentiometer that relays information from the cable inputs to the engine ECU .You would just replace it with another unit, but I doubt it will cause your clutch slipping issue.

does anyone know if it is possible to stop the full length electric sun roof flapping on an S reg Berlingo,

i drove this one to the MOT yesterday and it flaps all the time whilst driving it along,

maybe not shutting tight enough???????

No experience of Berlingo specifically but you sometimes find that opening a rear window a little will stop all sorts of sunroof booming and flapping. But, the open window gives some road and wind noise so you have to choose the lesser of two evils.

I wonder what would happen if you turned the heater off altogether as a trial. The volume of air...

Hi,

I've been having issues with the rear wiper on my S2 (1998, 1.9TD) estate firstly becoming intermittent, and now not doing anything what so ever.

I've checked the blue relay that is part of the wiper motor assembly, and that has been re-soldered and looks good. I've also checked all the cables at the boot door joint, and they are all ok...

Had a bit of an oh bother moment on the way to work as manoeuvring off the drive the bumper caught the edge of the fence which juts out and pulled it off.

Can someone with more skill with citroen service tell me the part number of the studs, or post a copy of the repair of them (which is in the subscriber section)?

As my usual technical consultant isn't available, can anyone tell me what to use to reseal the sump (XUDT9) please?

The original sealant was about 2mm thick and grey in colour. It looked as if a bead was applied and the sump quickly tightened down (or should that be up?) until the gap was 2mm(?), then allowed to set before the bolts were...

I've worked out the reason: VSXs have a different instrument cluster with an oil temperature gauge - so all XUD sumps had a hole for a temperature sender. Made production control much easier to just replace the dummy sender with a real (and more expensive) one for cars with an oil temperature gauge.

The Green Lady is up and running again after a major engine strip-down revealed no obvious damage. Jim was right, the XUD9 is incredibly robust - the cambelt had jumped one (crankshaft) tooth and the horrendous noise (like a big-end gone) was nothing worse than No 1 inlet valve just touching the piston crown (the other 3 were just visibly kissing...

Hello guys,

Just picked up a C3 1.4HDi 92hp ... a really nice little car, spacious and comfy to drive.
It has a few problems, need your opinion on possible causes.
There is no service history on the car what so ever.

It has 111.000miles on the clock.

It has difficulty starting...
Once it starts it works fine on idle, no smoke or anything...

Hi,
Northampton radio reported at lunch time 28/03/2014 that Citroen C4's and Peugeot 208's
Are being recalled by PSa because of a fire risk/insecure fuel lines.
apparently they didn't do up the fuel line clamps properly in the factory.
They didn't specify which models so probably a good idea to contact
your dealership.

Yes that is the correct type.

The 110 bhp Xantia whether estate or hatchback uses the 288mm diameter disc. It's worth measuring the discs you receive because some motor factors/dealers have been known to incorrectly state that the 283mm dia. disc is for the 110.

I was sort of sad to see the Acadiane go, after I had taken it to bits AND put it back together (I don't always do the second bit) but I think that it has gone to a good home.

Latest acquisition is a 1968 Dyane 6 saloon. It's a bit rusty in places and has a collection of scrapes that look like they have gradually been added to over the last 46...

Hi folks. I am thinking that Fred is too high at the back. I have measured from the floor to the wheel arch, which I know is not terribly scientific but gives an idea. At the front it is 65.5cm and the rear 66.5cm. Oddly going from service high to normal has very little effect on the rear height, it goes from 72 to 71. I have to put her in service...

my 2002 C5 2.2hdi is ok until I get to approx 2000 revs, then with little power it revs really quickly to around 3500-4000 revs, any ideas, could it be the clutch slipping or the turbo?

Hi All,
My glass on the C5 estate tailgate has stopped opening again. It's had the mod to the wiring long ago. This time it seems to be the microswitch which shows no continuty either with the switch pressed or not. If I were to replace the switch (and I do like the glass to open when I park the car near a wall etc.)

Hi. I have only one Xantia left now apart from the spares hulk. My white machine has been making ever increasing groaning related to wheel speed. I confirmed the left drive shaft innner joint at the diff was very worn and suspected that, especially as some knocking was starting to appear too. I have recently replaced the bearing on the left wheel....

Do you know, Is it possible, somehow to lubricate the heater fan motor? I sprayed some wd40 on fan cage shaft, but doesn't help. Can't see a way to dismantle the motor.

Thanks Sparksie! You're right about the lubrication - I just couldn't bear the squeal. It may even bed in Ok for a good while, but I don't expect a long term fix.

Your BMW fix was the right one under the circumstances and kinda ingenious. Whenever I've taken such a route I imagine I'm in a desert war zone, and only results count. :-)

The front ns footwell of my Xantia 1997 S1 is damp most of the time , and also (a little bit) the rear nearside footwell .
unbelievably , it seems to be the door rubbers that are causing the leak .
They are intact but seem 'flattened' somewhat .
Is this a known issue with xantias and do i need to buy new or get 2nd?

Hi folks. I have a electronic thermometer plugged into the centre vent. It was to monitor the air con temp but I have noticed a peculiarity. With the lever set to cold or 18degrees makes no difference to the temp according to the thermometer, stays at 7degrees with the air con on. However there is a huge difference between 26 and hot. Only goes whoosh dribble on automatic. With the fan on manual it behaves. Must be a couple of years for the filter though, checked it 6 months ago, surprising clean in there as the engine air filter gets very very dusty.

Morning all

I got this yesterday while driving about 25mph

Stopped car turned off and back on still came on.

So stopped car again at traffic lights pulled off lighty and it stayed off.

Jumped in car this morning started car and it came back on untill i drove about a mile or so stopped car turned off engine again restarted and it stayed off...

Hi Everyone.

My C5 2.2 hdi beeps and displays Airbag Fault for a few seconds everytime I start the engine.
It doesn't say which airbag or nature of the fault :dunno:
Is there a way to reset it, or do I need to attach a Lexia to get to the bottom of this?

I have a Xantia 1.9TD 1996 with a single drivers airbag thats playing up. I have replaced the clockspring that was the trouble last time, but this time no joy.
Does anyone have a circuit diagram showing the full airbag circuit or have experience of other stock faults?
As is usual its due for a MOT next week!

Charging fault question on my dads 04 plate 1.8 petrol Picasso,

He will be driving along and all of a sudden the battery light comes on followed by a beep and a charging fault message on the dash and all the dash lights go dim and wipers slow down,

If he carries on driving after a while the battery light goes out and all is fine...

the starter motor has gone,

my starter motor has 10 teeth

the car spares shop said they have one to fit but its has 13 teeth,

they said this will be fine to fit,

is this right?

They seem far less prone to turbo issues.. cheap to tax in the uk at either 20 or 30 quid a year but I found they arent exactley the 70 mpg engine you think they might be. More 50 mpg because its working a bit harder then normal.

I've just fitted a Lucas Rotodiesel pump from another 2.1TD to my 605 to replace the faulty Bosch one.

Jumped in the car this morning and have got a loud knocking noise from the front drivers side when driving. It happens when the wheel is going round and doesn't vary with engine revs but does with road speed. Sounds a bit like something got itself wrapped around the wheel and then is hitting something every time it goes round. It was fine...

Hi all.
I've been having some issues with the running temp on my 2.0 hdi (c8 2003).

I've changed the water pump and thermostat but it's no better.

It never used to be like this but now takes ages to warm. When driving the temp gauge can suddenly drop and raise randomly.Sometimes flicks down and back up but sometimes stays down for quite a while....

I have a Citroen ZX turbo diesel.

It will fire up no problem in the mornings, or when cold and run fine. However once it's warmed up and you turn it off and try to start it again it just turns over.

I've tried everything. Thought it was a dodgy stop solenoid, so had to cut off the armour off the Lucas pump with a dremel cutter and I removed...

My money's on valve clearances being too tight.
They wiil be tighter when hot and may have closed up altogether.
Someone using imperial feeler blades by mistake could do this.
If the valves are not fully closed you won't have enough compression to ignite the diesel!
If you start from cold and drive straight away, how does it run when fully warmed...

My C5 creaks when I lock the doors and the suspension lowers down. It is coming from the back axle area and not the front or middle. Now its getting warmer and the windows are open during driving I've noticed it sometimes doing it as I go round corners too.

While topping up the EOLYs last week I had a quick look underneath but there was no sign...
