Front strut top failure

We know both Xantia and XM have a poor history of strut top failure - both as a result of rust and 'rubber' tearing.

Question is, are there many instances of BX and C5 doing the same?

I guess the question is - what's the average age when the Xantia / XM Strut tops started to fail? Have we reached that point on the C5 yet, or maybe there was an improvement in the design?

Hi Marc,

The C5 has been around long enough (since 2000) for strut top failures to become apparent.
Although XM and Xan tops were pretty much the same, C5 tops were redesigned.

What we need to know is whether there has been failure of this item on the C5, or not.
Plenty of them on here, so I would expect plenty of experience with the item.
Burst bonnets, like XM and Xantia? Anyone had this?

A C6 had one I think

There was an irish c6 if i remember right? But that was the only one i know of

I have seen the account of the C6 strut bonnet pierce, which I think is the only one reported on the c6.owners.org site.
Really interested in C5, though.
