C8 2006 sx hdi 16v autobox problems

Unread post by pj0185 »

I have a 2006 auto C8 SX HDI 16v with what is looking like terminal gearbox problems. A while back it started going into default fairly often. Pressure regulator valves/electro-valves were diagnosed and these were replaced very recently along with part of the loom that was found to damaged. Having done the work and filled with transmission fluid the mechanic reported that the car had gone into refuge/limp and would not drive. Gears were slipping, the box was damaged etc. I have asked him to try and resolve the problem as at least it was driving before although going into default but that didn't prevent it being driven but he thinks the only option is to replace or overhaul the box.

If he cannot find a fix I am looking at scrapping the car as the value of a box overhaul is more than the car. Assuming it wont get out of limp mode does anyone know someone who can give a second opinion with a knowledge of citroen diagnostics who is mobile (West London/Slough area).

Asking a lot I know but I want to investigate any options before I write off a load of money.

I have RTFF but without luck. Any help is much appreciated.

It sounds very much like the box has been reassembled wrongly. I would be rather surprised if the clutches or gears are damaged.

Thanks xantia_v6. I didnt realise the box had to come out to replace the electro-valves.
