A highly recommended mod as it gives a nice firm pedal without the horrible sponginess of the standard one...

Nice thing is that if you don't like it then it's easily reversible...

I don't think Xantias feel right without it. Keep the spring though, some disagree.

I did't like the pedal feel with the original configuration, but I also didn't like it with the spring removed. What worked for me was adding about 6mm pre-load to the spring to give a bit more initial bite. The pre-load was acheived by adding a couple of washers into the plastic case that holds the spring.

The brake pedal mod was for people who had come from the BX/CX which had zero brake pedal travel. When you first switched from one of those to a Xantia the brakes felt very mushy.

If you have come from a car with a servo brake system it might be the other way round.

I have to say I do not think they are mushy at all......but I have never (or want to) stamped on a chocolate button when I want to stop a car.

I see no reason to change the brakes, now show me a short shift kit and I am yours for the weekend :)

Al look for a short shift for a 406 given they should both run ML boxes on the larger ones! Although they're cable aren't they?

Yes, cable but a 406 one should be OK... They both do use the same ML 'box...
