Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

My xantia TD I bought through this forum is great, the engines sweet, it pulls like a train and starts on the button!

However even if I leave it idling it neves get above 70 degrees, the heater is quite warm if not red hot and all seems well, also she warms up well thought even after about 5 minutes.

Should I worry?

Left it running for half an hour today, the fans didn't cut in and the gauge stayed about 75 degrees! Hester is warm and the cars running well and returning 45mpg+!

Few weeks ago I have purchased a Citroen C5 Tourer 2.0 HDI 160 Exclusive Auto made in January 2010 with around 60000 miles on the clock, equipped with the Hydractive 3+ suspension.

Well I know now why I got an error code 0341 after the ancillary belt broke - so did the cambelt!
Now I am not sure if any serious damage has been done to the engine/valves etc
The engine turns over ok but not sure that means much as the cambelt would not have moved anything else.
Or am I making an assumption?
What is the next best step?

My wife is getting a new C4 and the dealer has recommended a paint and interior treatment called supagard. Looking at the brochure this seems to be some sort of clear coating which is supposed to keep everything looking better for longer.

Anybody have any experience of this and whether it's worth having on a brand new car.

I'd buy a selection of products and do it yourself, for around £100 or so you could get a decent selection that will perform miles better than the superguard, here's a link to a forum and retailer I use. There's a wealth of knowledge on there and there's nothing better than getting your car looking good and standing back and thinking I did thank....

I have a Xsara Picasso 2.0 hdi, when I pull the washer stork back I get the jets on front windscreen as you'd expect but when I turn the end of the stork for the rear washer THAT too operates the front washer, Had a look at the washer bottle all seems fine. Hi guys. My battery earth clamp has disintegrated...2 cables off it, 1 to engine bay, does the other main cable go to the gearbox? Would Citroen have one? Or otherwise anyone know the dimensions so I can get one made?

Would rather change the whole thing than just the clamp if possible.

The Zx 1.4 petrol I had wasn't much different to the 1.9i volcane I had, probably late 20's mpg very early 30's. The 306 would be a good choice too, I drove a 1.9td years ago with mega mileage on and really loved it. A 2.0hdi would be a cracking car.

Ay up!

Just wondering here. The button for scrolling through the TC functions on the right hand stalk is there and pushes in. The dash display is rhe type wot comes with the TC. However, you can push the buttons as much as you like but all you get is date, time and outside temperature. With the original radio, it also told me which station it was...

Well, we finally have some useful snow in Croatia, and more coming on the way, so I decided to test the car how it handles on about 15 cm of snow, with ice here and there below it ... big open space (over 100,000 sq yards if I recalculated correctly), asphalt surface, no risks of damaging the car, no other vehicles or other obstacles ... Well it appears the source of my slowly lowering LDS level is the dreaded rack seal :(
from what the garage say it appears that Citroen in their wisdom didn't put a 'boot' on the UJ which then rusts away in sympathy with an old Lancia :-D and the easiest option is a recon rack.

Anyone got a supplier/knows of one/ is one ??

It it with regret I find myself having to pick you brains. My C5 Estate 2005 1.6HDI .
This morning whilst preheating my car I noticed that the gage for the suspension was on amber level and yet I had not moved it. I touched the key pad on the center console to lower it and that was that. I had not noticed if the car lowered its self...

I have a 2002 xsara 1.6 SX and the central locking has never worked on the fob but only with the key in either front door, this has now decided to lock sometimes but most times it locks and unlocks itself straightaway and the boot lock has stopped working altogether, I have checked all the wires in the door jambs and only the wire for the electric...

I've got a leisure battery installed so as not to drain the starting battery when using internal electrics such as lights, stereo and cigarette lighters. I have a voltage switched relay to charge it, and use spade connectors into the outlet on the fuse box to wire up the electrics off the leisure battery. Those are solved problems and I'm not...

Yea that sounds like a workable theory. Could the answer to that though lie in one of those relays in my glove box? Maybe if I bridge, or disconnect one of those it'll remove that voltage detection part

Need to tackle the speedo/tacho faults on my C5 this weekend (2 weeks of risking speed cameras with no idea of actual speed is enough for me! :lol: )

My plan is to buy a replacement binnacle from a breaker and hopefully swap the tacho/speedo drive units over while keeping the rest of my original unit (rest seems to work and I wouldn't want to...

Hi ! Got on my Xantia little problem. When neutral, without moving After rise RPM to about 2500, it begin to fluctuate up and down. Before and after that amount RPM stay still without fluctuate.
New spark plugs, throttle body cleaned, new air filter and fuel fiter.

car is running at 90*c in the video which is just fine, the design of the gauge simply makes it look high, centre of the gauge is only 80 which is very cool for a petrol engine... Anyway back to the issue & yeh more than likely it is a dirty ISCV and a good clean should have it back to normal :)

Car: Xantia, made in 2000, with two litre petrol engine.

Problem: Sometimes when signalling a right turn, the signalling light seems to not work, and the relay clicking sound is much faster than usual. :?

Symptoms:
When signalling a left turn, everything is fine.
When signalling a right turn, then most of the time it works. But...

Well today's shopping trip for parts was only partially successful, we've got filters, wheel cylinders, brake fluid & cleaner but nobody had 180mm lucas brake shoes in stock, nor did we manage to get a lower balljoint for the nearside...

I'm confused as to what vehicle the front hub carriers & balljoints are actually supposed to be for now,...

Not a great deal diameter wise, but it makes a fair old difference in % of circumference on something this size. I'll certainly have a look but really don't think this is the case as the slot in the clamp on the offside that I did a while back wasn't closed up, plenty wide enough to get a cold chisel in as a wedge to help the new one slot in place...

I have a 1999 xantia across the water in Dielette, we Live in Alderney CI. All the lights failed one evening with only the emergency lights working and we blinked our way back to the harbour. It is not unusual to have wires fail due to corrosion, particularly in the big harness that runs across the front of a RHD car under the radiator. It is possible that there was another break in the same wire.

If you can identify where the break is, it is probably best to bypass that whole section of cable.

Most models have options for bigger wheels/tyres to be fitted either at the factory or later.

My question is, as a different rolling diameter will affect the speed calculation, can the wheel/tyre sizes be changed via Lexia?

I was getting rather fed up with my car (08 2.0 C5 Tourer) spending most of it's time in economy mode when the ignition was off.
It also seemed to be rather random as to how long you got before it switched to economy.Had the (original) battery checked and was told it was fine.
No need at all to replace it etc. Decided to replace it anyway, and...

Not got my Activa back on the road yet, side tracked by various other cars and installing a 4 post ramp (needed so I can set up the suspension on the Activa :wink: ) but I need to do some towing and move some stuff around and there's only one thing for that as far as I'm concerned - a hydraulic Citroen estate :-D

I had a coolant leak - hose from the Y junction running back down side of expansion tank cracked and sprayed coolant all over diesel pump area and down block. It cracked just at back of jubilee clip holding it to Y connector. I made a repair and had engine...

Well that's over 2 weeks now and the old girl hasn't missed a beat :-D
Starting well every-time with no needle jumping or eml issues so the longer it goes like this I can only conclude that it was down to the coolant that has now well dried out 8-)

As title really...........

Leaning towards an earlier >2002 diesel.
Any tips/info please?
Do they all have DMFs (Dual Mass Flywheels)?
Are they reasonably accessible to work on? I heard somewhere that glow plugs are down back of engine??

Hi , I've searched this forum for an answer to my problem to no avail. Help, The heater on my 06 plate C5 1.6 estate has decided to refuse to blow hot on the drivers side . The passenger side works OK and the drivers side directs air to the correct vent but only cold . All help gratefully received , Or I sell it to an Eskimo taxi driver in Africa....

Greetings all.

A year and 9 days ago, I had a local pug indy replace the front-to-rear suspension pipe on my '01 C5. Apparantly it had corroded somewhere near the front.

To my horror it looks this morning like the same thing has happened, in the same place, just after the pipe bends up out of view into the engine bay, fluid lost all over the...

Hi All,

I bought a job lot of Xantia stuff off EBay last week and it the parcel was a Lemforder Droplink (stabilisator)
But its unlike any droplink I've seen for the Xantia.
I know of 2 types the type for my Mk2 where the link are in a Z shape the type for the Mk1 where one end is Z and the other straight.
But this one is straight at both ends....

Hello,

My father is contemplating buying an Xantia 3.0 V6 Auto and I wondered what sort of issues should be looked out for? Both Xantia-specific and specific to this model?

Fuel consumption doesn't really matter as would only be used for shows, rallies, summer driving and stuff.

Any rust issues like series 2 XMs?

They're a lovely car, but finding one with a good gearbox is going to be hard now that there's so few left and the mileages are high...

Indeed but a gearbox overhaul, if caught early, is well within the scope of a task that can be carried out at home without needing to involve the professionals...

So the front tyres on my Xantia are getting pretty close to the limit, so will be getting changed soon.

Before I just shop around for a reasonable deal, does anyone have any particular recommendations or cautions? I know the Saab for instance is quite sensitive to what rubber is on it, but not all cars seem to be as radically affected.

Slightly strange request, has anyone got any helpful pictures or advice on how the CD Changer is fitted in the Xantia Estate? I know where it goes and I have the changer out of my old hatchback with the bracket etc but I assume that there is a different bracket for the Estate. If it is mounted the same way as in the hatch, ie the disc cartridge is...

You could make your own. Not standard Denso tape as I mentioned though. There is a fireproof version, but not freely available. I have sealed the joints in my ecu boxes with black RTV sealant. The are at the rear of car under the floor.

2008 2.0 16v hdi ... x7.

Issue: rear nearside indicator has stopped working.. its NOT the bulb.. stop and tail work.. just nothing on the nearside indicator line at the REAR only. Mirror indicator and front works..

any ideas for me to look at tomorrow please? Or am I gonna have to wire in a new feed to the rear??
