Engine Mount Replacement
Is swapping out an engine moutn a difficult task?
I've noticed when driving off from stationary or low speed there is a judder from the PS front. It can't be suspension related as that has all been replaced recently.
What also points to the mount is that when I turn off the engine the judder occurs again.
Is there anything else this could be?
Can this be lived with or should it be swapped out soon if it is the engine mount?

Re: Engine Mount Replacement
Depends which one...there are 3: RHS top mount on the engine; LHS top on top of the gearbox; bottom centre mount between the back of the block and the subframe.
The top RH mount is not too bad to change; although it depends on how it is fixed to the wing, and whether it is rusted in.
The top LH mount is a bit more difficult, as you need to strip out the battery and tray and stuff above it.
Both these require support of the engine whilst you do it.
The bottom mount requires removal of the offside drive shaft in order the remove the mount from the engine, and you can then press out the rubber bush. You don't need to support the engine though.
It's often the bottom mount that causes trouble as it gets oil soaked. You can tell if this is away as the engine will rock back and fore when revved.

Re: Engine Mount Replacement
Is the Xsara gear linkage by cable or rod? If it's rod, you can also witness the gear lever shoots fore/aft when you get on or off the power.

Re: Engine Mount Replacement
It turned out to be the airbox was not snapping correctly into its bracket. Couldn't get it to snap back down into position - no idea why.
Ended up bolting it to the bracket and the noise has gone, apart from a slight rattle which is very infrequent.

Re: Engine Mount Replacement
Thanks for the offer. I phoned up a local motor factor and they confirmed it was the 131322 for top and bottom.

Re: Engine Mount Replacement
No probs it should be: (MUL) RUBBER GROMMET DIAM 27X12 HT 24
They are 29 pence each inc. VAT from Citroen just for a comparison.

Re: Engine Mount Replacement
The words rip and off come to mind - it is always worth checking with the dealer for a quick comparison as in some cases they are far cheaper than aftermarket sellers or the bay of evil!
I would return them (you have 2 weeks regardless) - for the price of a stamp - there doesn't have to be anything wrong with them and they don't have to be in original packing if you've torn open the bag. I've just this second checked again and as you can see prices direct from the dealer are correct:

Re: Engine Mount Replacement
Damn!
Never thought - they were all of a similar price on Ebay so I presumed that would be in and around the going rate.

Re: Engine Mount Replacement
To save me mucking up again, can you tell me the part no./cost for the clips to hold on the panel covering the panel and the water bottle?

Re: Engine Mount Replacement
Can you be a bit more specific (“panel covering panel”) and which water bottle (screen wash bottle, expansion tank?)
I will need a VIN as there are different ones depending on engine type (PM it if you don’t want to post it)

Re: Engine Mount Replacement
Ok so if I understand this correctly, you need the hog ring clips, number 20 for the decorative engine side covers.
These are part number 715909 and are 25p each inc. VAT.
