Hello to all , still on on Xsara 1.4hdi rebuild.
Its almost ready , booked for its CT on Tuesday - cheap 100euros car but had to do an engine transplant.
Doing the final tidying and want to get the airbag light to go out so its get cracking with the Lexia.
As we have mentioned many times, our Lexia is very very difficult to get working - its a as yet documented sequence of pluging/un-pluging cables , changing USB ports etc.
However, we select vehicle . out/in usb cable, select Lexia , type RPO and VIN and do Test by Function.
Go into protection and select AIRBAGS , cables out/in, ignition off/on and it checks vehicle configuration.
It comes up with BSI, Instrument Panel and Airbag check screen - communication with all 3 and we have cleared the faults on the BSI and Instruments.
Every time we click on AIRBAGS it says "No Dialogue with ECU" .
It does this every time - dialogue on first screen with all 3 items but no Dialogue when you click on AIRBAGS.
Also , when you turn on ignition it says "passengers airbag neutralise" on cars central screen.
Any ideas ?
Oops , a clue here - when we bought the car the gear-lever gaiter was off - maybe a previous genius was in there at the airbag ecu ?

Could this be the French informative message telling you that the passenger air bag has been turned off in order to fit a baby carrier?xsaras4ever wrote:Also , when you turn on ignition it says "passengers airbag neutralise" on cars central screen.

Re: Lexia Question - Airbags
It's possible that someone has been in there and disconnected the ECU, hence warning light and no communication with the ECU. If investigating - just be very careful and disconnect battery for 10 mins to be safe, as you don't know what has been done to it - if anything.
On the USB matter - I'm assuming you're using XP - sometimes you have to plug the VCI in and leave it for some time in order for XP to detect and install the USB driver - and this should be done on each USB port.

Re: Lexia Question - Airbags
Hello again and thanks for the replies and yes - problem fixed - sort of......
In truth, we had forgotten about the key switch for the passengers airbag.
On the dashboard there is an airbag light, and just above it the light for the baby-carrier (a seat with a ball on it with a seatbelt).
Only the airbag warning light was illuminated but when we checked the key switch it was set to "ON".
We turned it off and hey presto - the airbag warning light was also extinguished.
Maybe a faulty key switch ?
Anyway - we are happy.
CONTROLE TECHNIQUE tomorrow morning.
Thanks Again

Good to hear. I always like zero cost fixes.

Yup, I had the same message when connecting Lexia to my ´01 Xsara 1.9D van.
The airbag light on the dashboard on my Xsara is still constantly on. A friend of mine suggested replacing the plastic connection terminals under the driver´s seat with simpler ones. He said it is a re-occuring problem with all Xsaras. I did that. But the problem persists.
I have jiggled the wiring under the seat and that seemed to resolved the problem (with the plastic terminals and with the metal terminals). For momentarily. After a while, the light comes on again.
The car took a small blow to the front left fender. I am not sure it that might affected its "thinking", i.e. ECU.

Re: Lexia Question - Airbags
Also , disconnect the battery , put rubber gloves over the terminals , cut the connectors off under the seats and solder the wires. You just cannot beat solder in this situation

Thanks, xsara4ever! Again!
I was trying to avoid having to solder the wiring for the sake of having to remove the seats later on. But, I think it is inevitable to solder the connection.
