Front light bulb problem

Unread post by goggi10 »

Hi,
On my Citroen C5 X7 2012 yesterday on driver side main light bulb H7 died and i didn't noticed at all, until police stop me and i got ticket. and the problem is that bulb died and i didn't got any message on central console that something is wrong or SERVICE light. Is it possible that the C5 doesn't have any sensor that can tell you that f**** bulb died. my goddamn Peugeot 106 2000 or fiat bravo 2009 tells you that the bulb is dead. Can someone just tell me should i receive service message when bulb is dead or is it is yes someone has messing around probably with BSI. am i right.

Thanks a lot

The Police are very strict over there in Belgrade as are a lot of other European Countries. 😳

Back to the bulb issue, there are no bulb failure warnings on the X7 for most of the bulbs, so no, this is not something that somebody has changed in the BSI.

The circuits I know are monitored in the BSI, as I have replaced some bulbs with LEDs for reversing lights and the DRLs, however this does not provide any dashboard warnings.

Yes, one of my X7 headlamp bulbs went. Only noticed it when I stopped in traffic and saw only one reflection on the vehicle in front.

It could be useful to have a spare bulb set or two in the car, just in case (and, with any luck, a police office might take a more lenient approach if he/she tells you about a bulb out and you are able to resolve it then and there).

I thought there would be a warning if a bulb went? Even my old mondeo from the 1990s had that? Is this really normal fr an x7?

I don't think Citroen have ever given a warning. I've been driving Citroens since 1990 and I've never had one.

It's a strange one.
Apparently the Peugeot 407 displays bulb warnings on the MFD and I know for a fact that the BSI is aware of any bulb failures as they are logged as faults that can be read via Lexia.

It must have been a conscience decision to remove the feature from the X7 for whatever reason.

On the subject of cops, we used to go regularly to the evening motor auction at Leominster, cops used to lay in wait in Hereford for buyers returning through their patch with untaxed or faulty cars they'd bought.

One night we got onto the river bridge and the cop car flashed my pal and pulled him, telling him that he had a brake out, pulling his notebook from his pocket, my pal turned and said "Do the lighting rules apply to police cars?" "Your car's got a headlight out."

Cop turned round, looked and said "Oh s**t!" and walked away quickly. :-D

Early XM's had a light out warning but only the Mk 1's up until about 93.

Maybe because French electrics are très quirky as it is and and have enough criticism without adding a bulb-out warning to complicate matters further! :-D
