Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

As I am sure we are all aware, the above engine in the car uses oil at the rate of around 1 litre per 1500 miles. The same engine is found in minis and I believe some peugeotss. Today i got some small collision and my cover under front bumper was broken - and now it needs to be changed to new one. Well, relief cap is set to 1.4 bar overpressure (=2.4 bar absolute pressure). At that pressure, water boils at 126.6 deg. C, so I think there's no need to trigger the warning light at 105.

I also measured the instrument cluster coolant temp. sensor. The blue one that has only one terminal.

@ 21 °C it's resistance was 2863 ohms.

I have just had my BSI repaired and virginised after it threw one wobbly too many. I now have the task of fitting it back and matching it back to the engine and alarm ECU's. As this is a one shot only procedure do any of the erudite membership have words of advice on how not to cock it up? I have a four digit code which I obtained from Citroen and...

HI Forum

I've been offered two Xantia front seats for 80€. How compatible are the Xantia models in terms of front seats? The model the seats would come from is a later Hdi type- mine is a 1996 TD. Are they all the same? How easy are they to fit?

This is for my son in law who has a 2006 Citroen C8. My daughter parked up today, opened the rear offside automatic door and now it wont close. Would anyone know if there is a procedure to close it manually as it is stuck open at the moment. When he presses the button inside it beeps and tries to open, you cannot even push it closed.

I had a stuck door (open) - one of the cables had frayed/snapped and then got drawn in to the motor body and snarled the whole thing up so the door wouldnt close. As its all tensioned, as soon as the tension isnt there it goes wrong (A bit like the spare wheel mechanism!)

Hi.
Recently got a 2.0hdi c4 vts.love the car but after a week the clutch slipped the garage I got it from chaged the clutch etc.
But I'm just wondering if it's normal that when the cars in 2nd 4th or 6th you can pull the gear lever back another half inch to and inch.
It does spring back where it should be as it seems to be under tension.

Hi all,

Not for me, but a friend of a friend.
They've had the cambelt let go on one of these apparently.
Does anyone know if these are an interference engine (and therefore mangled mess of valves/pistons likely)?
Or not? (in which case hopefully just time it up, stick a new belt on and away they go).

A few days ago the upper radiator hose split and ive been lòoking for replacment for two days now, i top up about 10 litres of water a day to keep the car going.

Ive tried duct tape but that was no good so i bought special heat tape from halfords and that worked for about an hour....

Ive gone to eurocarparts even citroen dealers but no one has...

My C5 is leaking from the steering rack. Steering shaft is dry so it's most likely aluminium return pipe, which apparently is quite common to leak.
Anyway, the problem is that I can't find any information on the actual cause of leak. Many tried new seals which often doesn't help. Some say that it's micro cracks on the aluminium pipe, some that...

Only high pressure pipe is made of Carbon Steel. This one is not leaking.
Leaking pipe is made of aluminium and with aluminium rack there should be no rust. There is also no oxidisation on mine, so I'm running out of ideas.

Just finishing off a motorway run in the V6 24v, when suddenly engine started to hesitate and be jerky. No warning lights, no unusual temperatures.
Now, on starting there is a very dodgy sound coming form the middle right of the engine (when looking at it). A quite nasty 'broken buzzing' type sound.

Being a 24v this is going to not be an easy or...

Evening all, my 52' Picasso 2.0Hdi has an intermittent starting / running fault which I believe its due to an intermittent fuel pump relay - car turns over but fails to start, no sound from the pump in the tank / cuts out while driving. Go back to car later and it'll run fine for days?

I've replaced the fuel filter and couldn't see any metal...

If it has com2000 (which a 52 reg most likely will) then the brown 'double' relay is an integral part of the under bonnet fuse box & not a separate part.

I've replaced the fuel filter and couldn't see any metal filings, and due to intermittent nature am I correct to assume pump in tank is fine?

Went out to impart a bit of TLC to the V6 which has been standing over winter and is getting decidedly 'mossy' around the window rubbers due to the deluges up here only to find an oily looking leak on the ground in the vicinity of NSF and also to find my interior drivers mirror has dropped orfff!!

Can anyone advise me as to the likely source of this leak on my 2003 C5 HDI 2000cc turbo, it appears to be from somewhere just above the water pump,I cannot identify exactly where or from what even with a small mirror, such is the congestion in that area. I dont know what to strip first frankly.

Hello guys!

One of my friends has a Citroen Xantia 2.0 16V Petrol (RFV) with Bosch MP5.2 control unit.

The car stumbles and hesitates badly especially under high load acceleration.

The car has a fast idle @ around 1100 RPM. (maybe vaccuum leak).

When the car is warmed up, the MAP reads 420 - 440 which is quite high and despite high manifold...

My thoughts, for what they're worth:-
Clouds of white 'smoke' is unburnt diesel (do not breath in!).
XUD engines are indirect injection and when cold will only run cleanly if all 4 glow-plugs are working.
Clearly (gedit?) no air getting is in before the pump, but being a Bosch could well be the dreaded leak-off pipes (don't forget the blind end)....

Hi, a quick question sort of based on my previous problems with sensodrive.
Has anyone done a manual conversion of these?
I can easily do the mechanical part as I've access to a lift but wondered what would happen to the ECU for the gearbox and actuators.

I fixed my c2 at a big cost, but had no confidence in it, so sold it. I saw it for sale within a year with the gearbox broken again. It had done less than 10000 miles and needing another grand spent on it at citroen again. I will never buy one of these semi automatics again whoever makes them or what they are called.

I'm in the middle of renewing the timing belt on my C3 1.4 litre 8 valve KFV engine and one thing puzzles me, probably because my other cars have always had a chain.

All the instructions (Citroen, Haynes and Gates the belt manufacturer) say that the engine should be rotated by hand four (Citroen) or ten (the others) times after...

Thanks xantia_v6. I have taken the plunge and done it. You're absolutely right! The result was that the belt aligned itself more centrally on the water pump and camshaft sprocket wheels.

I would have achieved the same result after re-assembling by turning the engine on the starter, but I suppose that the turning by hand is a sensible precaution...

I've got hold of a Lexia clone diagnostic reader with leads and software, but I'm facing some problem getting the software to install properly.

Can I install Lexia as a standalone pice of software, or do I have to install Diagbox for it to work properly, for use with a 2005 C4 VTS?

When having some new front tyres fitted yesterday I took a pry bar with to check the lower arm bushes, as I'd noticed some noise and harshness from the front.
Verdict, they are shot! So, is it cheaper to fit just new bushes, or the whole arm? Any recommendations for best price and quality?

My bro in law broke his XM a while ago and bought a Xantia Hdi estate.

Today the clutch went bang and pedal went to the floor. The RAC man said he thought it was a hydraulic clutch and messed around in the footwell. The pedal is now sat at normal height again but is VERY stiff.

Any ideas would be most welcome, as would some sunshine. :(

I had a warning about two weeks ago on the display in the C5 which said airbag fault, it beeps and the service light comes on. Not the spanner to say it needs servicing but the service writing lights up orange.

I just lost 3/4 of the power in my C5 V6 and the Anti Pollution Fault alert is showing
I am guessing that I need a new fuel filter, at least that is a start point.
I cannot locate the filter and am having to work outside in a swamp.
In order to minimise my immersion can anyone point me to the location of the filter please

There's no external fuel filter, only fitted in dusty climates. If the polution fault comes up and you've lost power it's most likely one or more of the coils have failed. Change the lot as one will follow another when they start to go. ECP do them.

My Xantia 110 Hydraulic clutch stopped working. Can change gears with engine stopped but cant change gear when engine working. Hydraulic clutch oil was also low. Topped up the DOT 4 oil. Still cant change gears. When clutch is pressed it feels very hard and stiff towards the end of the travel.

My C5 has left me rather puzzled when it comes to tyre wear, namely the rear tyres wear out faster than the fronts which for me is a first for a front wheel drive car. I've had the alignment checked a number of times, I check the tyre pressures regularly using calibrated gauges, the car rarely carries more than just me, I never drive the car...

Hi, my c4 2005 automatic has suddenly developed a fault out of nowhere. It has always started on the 1st turn of the key, the problem was a week ago and the car cranks over but won't fire up. I called the AA out who couldn't repair it but did say it was likely to be fuel related as he couldn't hear the pump coming on, my car has only done 45000...

chaps, as part of my recent engine change I had to reseal the sump on the 2.0 163 C5 .. it leaks slightly, but is annoying and I need to sort it tomorrow..

The sump sealant came from GSF but I haven't got the part number etc to hand..

So my c5 never rode brilliant but it was ok, more recently the back end in particular is quite crashy feeling, at high speed dosnt seem so bad but low speed I dont like it any more, I was thinking spheres but guess that would affect high speed too so I am wondering if I need new shocks at the back ?
