MK1 C5 2.2 Automatic Gear selector

Post by mickthemaverick »

The blind which surrounds the gear stick and keeps the slot closed as you move the selector up and down has disintegrated on my car. I have searched the usual breakers and auctions but to no avail, however I have discovered a complete gear selector for a 2008 C4 and the slot shape is the same as mine, so does anyone know if the blind from that unit would fit my mechanism if I swapped it out? Cheers

I wonder (but I do NOT know) if the part would be the same as one from a Peugeot 407 automatic? The C5 and the 407 do share quite a few parts.

Thanks for that Marc!! Back to the drawing board!
Moizeau, I think you are right about the 406 era but I thought that car was sister to the Xantia rather than the C5. Could the 607 be an option do you think?

Neither 405, 406, 407 or 605 are compatible. But more than that, I’ve done a search over all models and no other vehicles are listed for this part number.

Just to tidy this up, I found a breaker with the gear parts I need and they should be here this week. Thanks for the comments! :-D
