Hi Everyone
Just a quick question, can you replace the bearings on the auxiliary drive belt idler pulley?
Getting strange noise when traveling and have used screwdriver to listen to the drive belt pulleys and it's either the idler pulley or alternator.
However no effect on lights or warning lights so I am starting with the cheapest.
Have removed idler and it does spin freely but you can hear the whirring grinding kind of noise?!
What are your thoughts guys, anyone had similar experiences?
Thanks in advance
Regards
Danny

You probably can, but by the time you've messed around sourcing a bearing, removing the old one without damaging anything and then fitting the new one....just slap a new part on. Sometimes you can cause yourself more grief than is necessary for the sake of saving a couple of quid, and that's not taking in to consideration piece of mind.

Re: Citroen ZX 1.9D Auxiliary idler
I replaced the bearings on the idler of Vel Satis. The whole assembly was about £140 and an SKF bearing was only a tenner. Some assembly's with brackets attached may not have a bearing that will press out though. There is an idler on the ZX with the dog leg bracket?
