Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hi

I went to start the car this morning and the temp gauge warning light was on (and the stop light). There was very little water in the raditator so filled it - but the lights stayed on. The temp gauge was at zero.

Any ideas?

Thats a typical low coolant warning , I've had that on my Xantia due to a mysterious slow loss of coolant. Just diagnosed it to a leaking expansion tank cap. It was a very slight leak , from top up to the warning light would take 3-4 weeks.

Hey all,
I need to change the front pads in the Green Goblin (xant V6), I've had a look at the BOL, it only has a guide for one caliper type, the type with the retaining pin and flip up top, I did pads many moons ago on my old 1.9D which had such calipers and it was a doddle, however my HDi had totally different calipers, so I chicken out and went...

but i have welded severl ZX's that have gone in a bad way, mostly inner wings and front outrigers at the mow,

Since they are ratteling quite badly, I have decided to replace the injectors on my Xantia 110hp HDI.
Through Ebay I have gotten hold of a brand new set of injectors, that, though from a later model, supposedly fit my car.
However, before I take anything apart, I like to hear if anybody can confirm that a set of injectors part no: 0445110044 can...

Not long at all...

I THINK But not certain, when you switch the engine off, listen under the bonnet, and after about 30 seconds, a relay clicks in and activates what sounds like a pressure releaf valve, I had no problem with fuel spurting every where..

ITS ONLY the 8v engines were injectors come out OK, the 2.2 16v are BAD news in this...

Hello all, just wondered if anyone knows any likely causes, other than the obvious hole in the exhaust.

Bit of a concern given the toxic nature of fumes so I have booked the car in first thing tomorrow to have the exhaust checked.

Having lifted the car up and given it a once over myself though, I can't see any obvoius holes/splits, the cat...

Been under the bonnet and fitted a new gasket £6.20 not bad. The old one looked a bit knackered in places. Also noticed a breather pipe under the plastic cover and not 100% sure if this was connected - it is now. Been for a quick drive and didn't notice the smell. Earlier this year I bought myself a ZX Volcane turbodiesel off ebay, as a bit of a birthday present to replace my old 106.
At first, it was great. £500, a year's MOT, good condition apart from a few dents, economical, fun to drive, cheap insurance.

Im half way(ish) through replacing my leaking pipe, however i have a problem in that ive never done flares before, and the flares i can produce with the tool dont look the same as the one on the pipe i have removed!

The way I understand it , there is always pressure in the hydraulic system , but if the suspension is fully lowered there is no hydraulic load in the suspension cylinders.

now before we go any further my dad used to own a 1.9td lx which i thought was amazing and never let us down apart from when the linkage to the height adjuster had came loose which i fixed myself lol.

Hoping someone has an idea what this problem is.

The car every so often is flashing the management light on and going into limp mode. When you switch off it runs on for a few seconds. Start up and the light is still on and the car wont rev over 3000. Do this a few times and then with the light still on 2 or 3 times later it will rev right up and...

does anyone out there know if it is feasible to raise the pressure from 0.6bar to 1bar on the sd engine to give the same output of the td. if it is possible how would i go about it and what changes / adjustments would i need to do.

Hi all,

Just bought a 2001 synergie 2.0L automatic. (love it!)

3 times yesterday whilst driving the display on the dashboard indicating what the gears are doing NPDR etc, started flashing rather than just highlighting D and it appeared to be stuck in 2nd, I turned off the engine and restarted and this seems to reset it all to normal...any...

Just sheared one of the long retainer bolts for the rear disc pads. Anyone know where I can source one on line or know the size and the type of the bolt to do a search or is it a long treck to the nearest Citroen dealer.

the seal on the plastic return to pump from distribution block went, citroen say the pipe comes as a whole £35, where as the pipe itself is fine it is just the seal on the part that goes into the distribution block that is gone, is there an alternative to buying the whole pipe? thanks

Umm, I'm thinking you are speaking of the pipe that runs from the large hex outlet on the pump (the one nearest the pulley) to the accumulator and it is clamped across the front of the front bank and runs down to the accumulator sphere block. This is not normally a plastic pipe though. It indeed does not have a seal at the pump end but does have a...

I can see that the Ram needs to come away, but what about the attaching point for rhe RAM, does it screw off with the track rod end attached??...

Well, this turned out not as bad as expected..

I tried the real world way, but there was no way enough room, then to top it off, it remove the ram, needed two supply pipe undooing, which I had NOT enough space to swing on a spanner to undo them..

SO Rack out! which was not as bad as expected.. I dropped the subframe on the drivers side, removed...

Leak off pipe has decided to start leaking again after replacing it with stuff from the motor factors. This stuff seems to be a load of crap. Is there anything on the market, that can just be bought in lengths and doesnt cost the earth that can be used as a replacement?

Having had the door hinge re-welded on car, got the car home to discover that the aircon and main cooling fans were no longer working - nor demist fan - evrything else OK, and no fuses blown. Took it back to the body shop, who first claimed that removing the OS front wing could not have disturbed any wiring. I insisted, and eventually they got it...

I realised after last my post that your car's an HDI, whereas mine's an S1 TD. I've been poring over my BoL, but it only covers Series 1 up to 1995, and doesn't even cover the aircon option, so I've little to go on.

On reflection, think I'd first be checking for power at the ignition switch before playing around with a +ve jump lead. Of course,...

Thought you might like to see thes pic's

The day before a trip to Cornwall... typical!

New tank on order 8th October - Brilliant start

Strangely the coolant level light didn't come on... I just happened to notice a slight rise in coolant temp.
The stub which broke off was suprisingly fragile.. will be more careful next time.

What is the normal temp gauge reading for a Xant HDI 110 ?
Mine runs a shade over 80 in normal use at motorway or A road cruising.

My 1998 1.8 16V ran cooler - indicated about 70°C. I always thought this was low but never did anything about it.

what's exactly is the name and purpose of this oval rubber bulb on a pipe from the fuel filter, that lies just above the radiator on a xantia? (Mine is on its way out).

Hi, the engine cooling fan on my '99 Saxo 1.4 (auto) does not appear to come on. I've had the car a year now and I,ve never heard it running at all. The switch is new, the fan operates when the switch is shorted and the thermostat is new too.
No, I,ve not left it idling for a long time just to see. But does this sound normal or not? It does not...

I've looked up and down the forum and can't see much about this so I'm posting a new one.

The rear end of my Xantia 1.9TDi doesn't rise, I had this problem before and had to fit a new plastic part, which has something to do with the suspension levelling, and immediately solved it.

I went under it and, like before, the plastic part had popped...

Was the two linkage arms REALLY free to move, thats the one connected to the Rod that goes to the lever in the car, and the other that actually moves the height controller arm?? THESE MUST BE FREE OTHERWISE IT WILL BREAK AGAIN! maybe not now, but maybee in a few thousand miles..

I didn't get the lower ball joint out of the hub yesterday evening, as planned.
On this one, the metal yielded to my chisels, metal too soft, and joint too hard stuck. I 've always managed before, hard stuck on my BX too.
I popped it down today to my local engineers Tiplers, a walk away..how lucky I am. Two cut out slots remained intact out of...

I've seen a few threads on this subject with lots of disussion on whether it can be done, if its legal, what size of exhaust etc. However I haven't seen a definitive aswer from anyone who has done it answering the question. Is there was a commercial/off the shelf exhaust available to enable me to decat? most people seem to use the custom built, or...

The clutch pedal on my Synergie has started to play-up. When pressed, the pedal often just 'cracks' and drops to the floor with no upward pressure. I have to reach down to lift it back again at which point pressure is restored but it is 50/50 whether it does it again. I Think that there must be some kind of tensioner or adjuster adjacent to...

Looking for oppinions on the C6 ?
I'm waiting for the depreciation curve to take them down to £5 or £6k as I quite fancy having one !
What is fuel economy like ? Reliability with all the toys they are fitted with ? How are they to work on ?

I am in need of a new tyre. I went onto the National Tyres website and entered my Reg no and it correctly came back with the make/model/year and stated that the tyres are 185/65 R15 H. If I enter the same information on Kwik Fit I get the same.

Now the tyres on my car are 185/65 R14 H. So, am I in the wrong here and what are the...

Early Xantias did have 14 wheels, they had the wheel trims with quite a few holes in. Later Xantias got 15 wheels, those have the flat looking 5 spoke wheel trims.

Some slightly later petrol Xantias still had 14 wheels, diesels had 15 after a certain date.

Yours being a 95 car with certainly have 14 wheels. All S2 Xantias had 15 wheels, no...

Hi,

I've just purchased the above car with a genuine 48,000 miles and everything works perfectly apart from the heater/cooler blower switch.

When the switch is turned, there is no response.

The hot/cold switch works fine so no problem with the heater matrix etc.

I've checked all the fuses and they seem fine.

Could somebody please let me know...

Whilst you've got the Hydroflush in take the opportunity to flush it through the brake pipes.

I was going to today, I had one of the front wheels off and was looking for a broom handle when it started to rain, at that point I decided to stop and put it back together.

I did find something nice, it's had new dics's and pads on the front, and...

Hi people!

Can someone give me a quick overview of replacing the alternator on my 1996 Xantia Activa it has the 2 litre engine.

I had a leak on the pump above it and after fixing that it seems the alternator didn't survive a lhm bath :(

The fan you control for heating and demister etc wont come on sometimes it does but most of the time it is not and coming up to winter those misty windows will be back but no blower to get rid!.....Is it the relay switch? what to do and cost please!!! Oh its a 1999 xantia

Developed massive hydraulic leak from (i think) the supply pipe where it meets the regulator.... this has happened before and was cured by replacing the pipe and the stud that was missing which supported the pipe to the gearbox. It seems that the slightest movement will crack the...

This regulator is from a scrapyard where I personally removed spheres. Nice training for a beginner. Regulator came as a freebie as well as some pipes,clips.

i know its not car related but we dont have a section for general chat,

we currently use Virginmedia, 19. odd quid a month, and for that we get suposedly unlimited internet and any time STD land linee calls all in, but they sting you for 0800, 0845, and 087 numbers dialed,

they also seem to keep slowing our service down from 5.5 to 6 meg down to...

I've found some information that normal ADSL is a maximum of 8Mbps down and 1 Mbps up. This is from the original ratification in 1998. There are later variations of this which up it to 12/1.3 and even 12/1.8 over ISDN.

I have a 2006 facelift model C5 VTX+, the reference number on the top of the headlamp is X3 H7 H1 DTG

The car has just failed the MoT on the nearside side light and nearside headlight not working on dipped beam.

I've taken a pic -

I am trying to buy a replacement xenon and side light but am having difficulty finding out which are the right...

Hi, Ive got a 2001 citroen C5 2.2 Hdi Auto, 164k miles. bought this car a few months ago and didnt really know what i was letting myself in for!, the in car display was showing, DIESEL FILTER BLOCKED, FUEL ADDITIVE LOW and then would flag up ANTIPOLLUTION FAULT and go into 'Limp Mode' and would only return a maximum of 25mpg even on a run, so.. we...

Frankly had it been me I would have knocked the filter out of the exhaust pipe filled the EOLYS tank with diesel and reset it, the bonus with this is it would give you a power boost of I estimate about 4BHP. The problem with cleaning the filter is that to do it properly is beyond DIY while you can pressure wash some of the carbon out the Cerine...

Last week someone was kind enough to put a link on the forum for I've been looking at the EYTC code for Hurricane Grey - the colour used on my C5 and I can't understand all the various choices - which is why the aerosol I've had made up doesn't quite match the car. Hi Folk, looking at two balljoints, I see that the collar just below the thread insert is round without flats, by design, unless my eyes are decieving me.
How are they best removed, according to your experience...apart from the usual soaking in plusgas and heating, I mean how to get a grip on them?
Is there a special tool?

Thanks guys, I suspected so...hub off, then, Yes I removed hub carriers when doing the BX..and then employed a stilson and chisel where necessary.
The special socket looks very nice, thanks for that.

These balljoints haven't gone, just I damaged the rubbers with my forked tool.
I'll see if I can get some replacement rubbers first..not so easy.
