C5 '52 ESTATE REAR BRAKES

Post by johnway »

Hi All,
Yes it's me again - this time with a question about C5 rear calipers. Mr Haynes says that a new fluid pipe seal is required when reconnecting the fluid pipe to the caliper and then tighten the union. Seal ? What seal ? I know there are pipe seals on the LHM unions but surely not on DOT4 brake systems? I found the usual flared pipe and union on the rigid brake pipe but no seal or have I missed something here? Thanks in advance for any advice,
Regards,
John.

I Blame it all on my Dad!! (Sadly had to give up driving & his 2nd BX) but Mum still has a C1.

Dont have the manual, but is sure seems like a mistake referring to pipe seals in the C5 brake systems :D
The writer is presumably still thinking in Xantia circles ...

Thanks AndersDK - you have hit my suspicions on the head !! I have just noticed that the Haynes C5 manual 2001 to Mar 2008 does not cover the V6 or 2.2 diesel - shan't be buying either of those then. All the best, John.
