Torque Settings for S1 Xant Diesel Injectors and Glow Plugs

Post by Rhothgar »

Hi Guys,

Up to my elbows in grease and oil.

As is the keyboard now.

Does anyone have access to the following information?

Torque Values for:-

Injectors into Cylinder Head

Glow Plugs into Cylinder Head

on a S1 Xantia 1.9TD SX.

It seems my running problem may have been down to a lone glow plug that was dead. Have yet to get it back together and check the waxstat but it is definitely NOT the injectors.

Hoping someone can almost answer the values of the top of their head!

Many thanks, Rhothgar

I've never used a torque wrench for tightening these and never had any problems.

Anyway here's the tech data I have to hand for an XUD (it does not list different values for XUDT nor for 1.8 / 1.9), I assume its accurate:

Glowplugs: 22Nm / 16 lbf ft

Injector (Bosch): 90 Nm / 66 lbf ft

Injector (Lucas): 130 Nm / 96 lbf ft

Injector pipe union nuts: 20 Nm / 15 lbf ft

Hope that helps.
Andy.

When you have disturbed injectors Roger, it's vital to renew the firewashers and copper sealing washers.

A duff/deformed/upside down firewasher can upset the injector spray pattern and reusing the copper washers can encourage leaks.

The glowplugs won't be the cause of running issues unless the body and tip is very badly damaged. Glowplugs only help the engine to start...

Did you sell your D-Turbo on Ebay the other day?

Used to have one. Awesome car. I would love one again and stick an HDi 136 engine in it. I would be a shame to bastardize one as they're so rare but so light too!!!

I did sell it ( :( ) but not on Ebay no. It was a genuine early (for the UK, I know they were sold elsewhere a few years before) D-Turbo not the strange later MardiGra one so had the proper sports seats / factory tacho (GTi Style instrument panel) vacuum sunroof (worked and no leaks or noise)

I'm still missing it.
