2001 C5 Auxillary Audio Input- solution!

Post by Andy F »

Hi everybody,

I remember ages ago there being a thread on if or how it was possible to connect an mp3 player to an existing 2001 C5 headunit.

I have done much research into this and have finally bought a system that actually workeds! All the web sites i visited didnt seem to list a Connect 2 system for C5s older than 2005.

However, the Connects 2 CTVPGX010 - system for Peugeot 206, 307, 406, 607, 807 Aux Interface works on my 2001 C5 sx. My system is the RD2 or 2295b unit that nowhere seemed to have heard of. The box from

Plugged straight into where the multichanger should be and worked without having to have it enabled at the dealers, which i was concerned about.

Its brilliant being able to listen to Mp3s just like i can on the standard unit on my Xantia 1995. My how technology has moved on! :D

I hope this is of use to someone

Cheers
Andy

I have a CD changer in my C5 and the RD2 radio head unit. With this interface do you think I'll still be able to use my CD changer?
Cheers, Kev

I'm in the same situation Kev. As the unit uses the CD changer interface I doubt it.

As you unplug the multichanger wiring to use the box, you can only use either the multichanger or the box

Very handy thing for you to post up.

I have one of these connects2 adaptors in the 2002 C5 we have, it does work very nicely. I routed the wire behind the dash, under the centre console and out through the rear ashtray - which is just behind the handbrake. I put a small hole in the base of the ash tray to get the wire through and its kept hidden in there by the lid on the box. So its neat and tidy and most importantly, not on display. When I want to use it I just sit my Ipod in the ashtray and plug it in.

I have been meaning to get one for my current C5, however I have not done so yet. Its worth bearing in mind that the facelift C5s require a different model of Connects2.

Also, there are the basic connects2s, which simply act as a jack headphones plug and play what comes out of the Ipod etc. Or there is the more expensive and advanced one which allows connectivity to the Ipod from the cars radio, allowing you to change the tracks on the Ipod through the radio controls, very handy as you dont need to use the Ipod buttons.
