Given the number of 'After-sales campaign' notices concerning Takarta Airbags I have been made aware of when looking up parts from PSA for members, I thought I would post a link to the following documentary that may be informative concerning the issue with these igniters.

According to Takata, the chemicals in the airbags’ explosive charge can...

Disruption to Parts Service

This has caused some problems for organisations like ours and the Team are currently looking at the best way forward. This...

C3 Electric Sunroof Sticking

The factory fit electric sunroof on my wife's C3 VTR has become very sticky and now won't even open. The motor starts to run but then stops when it can't actually move the mechanism, probably as it has a cut out to avoid damaging the motor.

Something else to check is the accumulator sphere. This is used to provide backup pressure should the main pump fail. What you do is to park the car on level ground, leave the engine running, and pop open the bonnet. If you listen carefully there should be an occasional clicking sound. This, ideally, should be over 30 seconds between clicks (the...

If that picture is the worst of the rust, they might well skim clean leaving enough thickness to have a useful life. The BoL will tell you what the maximum wear (per face) should be - I say you'd want to take off no more than 50% of that. No need to skim the outer face IMHO.

by agaafear » 19 May 2014, 19:26

First post

My C5 1.8 has 53,000 miles and runs well. However, recently, I notice that when I'm driving on a light throttle or let the throttle off to reduce speed, the car starts jerking quite strongly. In traffic this is quite annoying. My friend who works for Citroen did a diagnostic test using Lexia and Intermittent Fault, Richness Regulation appeared. It...

When the spark plugs were changed were they replaced with identical plugs, or 'compatible' plugs?

There's also been a load of fake NGK spark plugs doing the rounds over recent years - they're extremely convincing to look at, but go dodgy after a short time. I'm in no way suggesting you've fitted dodgy plugs from NGK or anyone else - but it's...

C5 multiplexed Towbar lights

by The Hatter » 19 May 2014, 09:26

First post

I have a 2004 Mk1 C5 estate with what looks like an original Citroen towbar and the complicated multiplexed wiring.

I have a problem with the indicators when I hitch up a trailer; the trailer indicators don't work, the car rear indicators don't work, and the car front indicators (and instrument panel lights) flash rapidly. The car is fine with...

Last post

If the box you've found has seven screw connectors at one end with a variety of coloured wires at the other, then what you have is a Smart7 bypass relay. That powers the lights on the trailer without over loading the car's wiring.

C5 2002 HDI Injector ECU

by Alamow » 24 May 2014, 11:57

I have a C5 2002 HDI that will not start.

When running global test with Lexia the Injector ECU shows an immobilizer fault. I am not able to clear the fault as each time Lexia returns a communication error. I am able to clear faults and adjust all other ecu's.

When checking the Injector parameters the table is empty. When I try and configure the...

Nemo paint colours

by xantia_v6 » 21 May 2014, 09:46

First post

The Nemo is made by Fiat, Are the paint colours standard Citroen range, or are they Fiat colours?

I am asking because I need some touch up paint for my E type, which is not quite the standard Jaguar Signal Red, so I walked around a car park with a sample from my car, looking for the best match, which turned out to be a Nemo, but I did not have...

Oops, my location was still showing as NZ, but I am now back in France! I thought I had updated my profile, maybe I forgot to save it.
No Halfds her either, but I did find a book of colour chips in the local Feu Vert, so I think I have found the right shade, but won't be sure until I have sprayed some on the car.

Radio Codes

by Captain Slow » 17 May 2014, 12:01

Is anybody able to access/provide me with/workout the code for the original Philips tape deck in my car please?

Last post

Just pop in to your local dealer and ask. Like most things they have an RRP, but in the case of radio codes the cost to the dealer is minimal, normally part of their annual software subscription.

If you're polite and the dealer is helpful there is a good chance they'll tell you for free, the only word of warning on older cars, the radio could...

Citroen C5 Mark 1 - retrofit sat nav?

Hi chaps.

I've just bought a 2003 Mark 1 C5 V6 Exclusive SE for very little. It needs a bit of work, and just this evening I've been offered another C5 V6, this time just an Exclusive, although it does have full leather.

Would it be easy to transfer the nav from the SE into the other car? Or are we looking at some ridiculous task?

Cheers

Last post

Unfortunately, the newer Exclusives don't have full leather as standard, it's still an option. I've tried to find a definitive list of standard specifications for the exclusive model but it's nigh on impossible. I still don't know what constitutes the Exclusive tag, but it isn't full leather or Sat nav. Plenty don't have that, nor window blinds or...

Worn keys will also rotate in the barrel.
Sometimes pushing it in firmly will effect a temporary cure.

Can anybody tell me where the thermostat is for the cooling system for a 2001 C5 3.0 V6? or where the sensor is?

It seems to be overheating had water steaming and pouring out of the cap on the headertank and dripping down into the wheel arch :( . It did in the winter do a little trick of going to max temperature for a short while when very cold...

guys
when i put my head lamps on i don't have any light in the dashboard,
I'm assuming its a bulb .. what sort of fix is this are they any instructions anywhere

cheers

I would start checking fuses. On the Xantia there is a fuse for the instrument panel. If yours has such a fuse, it would be reasonable to assume that if the fuse has failed the instrument panel would stop working.

Headlights

by captainslow72 » 14 May 2014, 20:16

Hi all when I lock my Xantia 96vsx the head lights come on for about a minute then go off, after while they come back on any ideas as to why and how to sort it? Thanks

Last post

It's the suspension pump cutting in and out. It causes a very quick voltage drop which shows as a headlight flicker. There's nothing you can do about it. They all do that, it is completely normal

Xantia S2 Electrical Maladies..

by Northern_Mike » 22 May 2014, 16:21

Heater blower, heated rear window, passenger side electric seat all not working. Common cause or all unconnected? S2 V6.

Have checked some fuses. No longer appear to have manual with a listing of which is which. Gave up when it started to rain.

Xantia S2 have a power relay for heater blower under the carpet in pedals area.
Maybe this topic will help you: onclick= window.open(this.href);return false;
If the relay is working, remove the carpet under the glovebox and check the connectors and power supply wires from blower and brushes from engine. In many cases the red power supply wire is...

HDi fuel filter change

by bobins » 22 May 2014, 19:38

I'm looking to change the diesel filter on my C5 (X7) - I've done plenty of fuel filter changes on my previous Xants and the actual changing of the filter isn't a problem for me, but I see in Citroen DocBackup that they reference temporarily fitting a T-piece pipe after replacing the filter and purging the fuel lines with the bulb primer for 1...

Hi all,

After 2 changes of Esso LT71141 in my C5 (year 2007), I don't find improvement in my gearbox smoothness hence I will be considering either Amsoil or Redline ATF in my next ATF change (probably in about 2 weeks time).

The 2 mentioned brands are widely available here, whereas Esso LT71141 is harder to come by and its price is on the high...

2.0HDI injectors

by isisalar » 17 May 2014, 14:09

Hi guys,
Have lately been using exclusively V power, and combined with giving the engine a damn good thrashing, performance has steadily got better and a ticking injector is now silent. A couple of weeks ago I tried taking it easy for a week but the ticking returned. This week after a few motorway runs it's better than ever and I'd like to keep...

Thanks for that Peter, that is cheap for used injectors, they're normally about £25 e@.
zs&tas, I agree about the Shell fuel, especially the V power, it's definitely cleaning out things and the car feels better every fill. As for Redex etc. the only one I've found that really works is Slick 50 fuel system treatment, give it a try, you wont be...

Plumbing a sphere tester

by Old-Guy » 21 May 2014, 20:43

Hi, sometimes when i lock/unlock the car with the fob the drivers door doesnt lock or unlock, sometimes it works fine, it still works fine with the key but is a bit fiddly at night in the dark finding the keyhole any ideas to what the problem could be many thanks in advance [-o<

Last post

I knew somebody who had an issue with his remote being intermittent. It was down to the transmitter crystal in the keyfob. I believe it was a 20MHz crystal (I am NOT certain of this) and when he replaced the crystal the problem went away.
