C3 Electric Sunroof Sticking

The factory fit electric sunroof on my wife's C3 VTR has become very sticky and now won't even open. The motor starts to run but then stops when it can't actually move the mechanism, probably as it has a cut out to avoid damaging the motor.

Had a similar problem a number of years ago and the dealer did some fiddling around and lubricated the mechanism. I suspect the mechanism just needs a good clean and lubrication but the Haynes BOL is no help as it just says it's too complicated and difficult and to take it to a dealer.

Does anybody have any thoughts on how difficult this is or if possible can they post any instructions on how to do it.
