HDi fuel filter change

Post by bobins »

I'm looking to change the diesel filter on my C5 (X7) - I've done plenty of fuel filter changes on my previous Xants and the actual changing of the filter isn't a problem for me, but I see in Citroen DocBackup that they reference temporarily fitting a T-piece pipe after replacing the filter and purging the fuel lines with the bulb primer for 1 minute - I presume this is to shift any crud that may have ended up in the filter housing straight back to the fuel tank. A simple question - does anyone actually bother to purge their filter housing with this T-piece pipe (or a bodged version) after replacing the filter ? Just to clarify - this pipe seems to direct the output of the filter housing directly back to the tank and not via the injection pump.
Sadly no longer a C5 owner :(
