Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

A couple of things my Activa does differently to my previous more basic Xant are:
If you stop the engine with the door open, you get a sudden drop of the front suspension by 25-40 mm or so.
Also, during low speed manoeuvring, the steering will sometime go a little heavy, as though the main accumulator is running out of puff.

Has anyone fitted a flywheel conversion to an RHR citroen c5 hdi

My flywheel has gone all of a sudden and ideally I would like to fit a solid one. However I've heard that the 6 speed gearbox has to have a dual mass and also the crank snapping because of no damping on the clutch

Anyway just wanted to know if these were true fact or speculation as...

I thought I was imagining it, but definitely not this morning. This the C4GP with the 110 BHP engine. When cold it seems to hesitate as you change up into second and demand some go - this morning it took a good 2-3 seconds to pick up from idle as I changed up. However, after that it runs just fine, response and performance being similar to the 307...

Just wondering, does anyone know the 'right colour' green for painting the hydraulic parts on CXs?
Anyone got a link to where they bought some brush on or spray paint of the stuff?

Whilst I'm working on hydraulic bits on the car, I might as well give them a scrub and repaint - and I'd rather do it with the right colour stuff! :)

If you take something, a sphere would be ideal, in the colour you need, to most decorators merchants who offer a paint mixing service they will have a gizmo to scan it and generate the paint code. It would be polite to buy a little paint which they will happily mix up for you.

Hi are the wheels for the xsara picaso's the same as zanty's? my zanty has 15 xsara's use same size tyre's on picasso i know but wondered if the rims where the same as ive a set of alloy rims from pug 205/309 1.9 which are in factory white with speedline stickers! so thinking of keeping to wear on picasso.

Yes i think it is a factory colour as not a respray type as a hard finish plus has those speedline logo/stickers which never seen on silver ones was thinking they was for the 309 1.9 Grp N rally cars they ran as these came from round Dunstable area.but who knows.

Hi I have recently purchased a berlingo 1.9 d 2006 and wondered how difficult it is to do the timming belt and water pump ,looking at the Haynes manual it states you must use a electronic belt tensioner tool ,is there another way to do the job without the use of this tool .

Hi all,

I've been running my 2.5 very happily on veg oil for the past few months but yesterday I noticed it was leaving a small patch of fuel under the drivers side front of the car. I can't see any obvious leaks but I think it may be coming from the input shaft of the high pressure fuel pump. It still starts and drives great so i'm hoping I wont...

Hi all. Got to ask this question, although I'm sure that the answer has been in front of me on more than one occasion ..I have been listening for the regulator tick on my Xantia but I'm blowed if I can hear the so and so. What if any are the other methods of checking the accumulator sphere please. My hearing is not what it was which is not helping

Thanks for that, your pipes obviously have spinning connectors. The pipes I have do not have spinning connectors which means taking the calliper off I suppose .They are Citroen genuine parts. That is my dilemma . No change to braking means I will try other options first , this will have to come later, maybe just before it is retired. Shame ,good...

My xantia 110 hdi has for some while had a leak from the front suspension pressure regulator (where the front accumulator sphere attaches too). It has weeped for a couple of years but is now leaking badly. I have read you can take it apart and renew the o rings but really don't want to get involved in that as the car is in constant use and I know...

Mine leaked from the end where the plate to the gearbox is too. There's a seal in the end of the piston in the unit. Replaced the seal with help from this forum. It's not a bad job, drilling a little hole to get at the circlip worried me but it worked really well. As a temporary measure you can take the plate off and shove a seal in there, I did...

Hello guys,

My citroen xantia 98 reg is running hot, around 90 to 100 c° while driving..

I have changed the coolant temp sensor, the tstat & bled the cooling system so far..

Anybody have any ideas?

The front passenger seat is stuck on our C4 GP. Pretty sure it's got a felt tip pen stuck in the inboard runner. Looking around this doesn't appear to be an unknown problem, but what I haven't got to the bottom of is how to fix it! As the seat is almost right forward, the end of the release bar is obscuring the front mounting bolts. Any one got...

Got it back together - there is something wrong with the bolt on the bottom of the seat belt with the pre-tensioner, as I can't undo it - might be stripped or something inside. Anyway, you can put the seat back together in the car, then bolt it down OK. There belt is supposed to clip into this fitting, but I couldn't work out how to release it.

I have been getting strong whiffs of a curry type smell, these only occur when I adjust the temperature dial and fade very quickly afterwards. First signs of heater matrix leaks, or symptoms of something else? Car does slowly use coolant, haven't found any wetness inside the cabin...

I've recently established that my exclusive HDI has not had the diode mod done and I suspect it may need it. I've come across this on ebay which for an electrical dunce like me would seem to be the ideal soloution. onclick= window.open(this.href);return false;

Ordered one of the boxes Sunday, delivered Tuesday. It was easy to fit and only took about 20 minutes. The hardest part was reading the ID markings on the grey wires, almost needed a magnifying glass, managed with the aid of a torch in the end and then it was plain sailing. Help please! I have acquired my mother's N reg AX and want to change the radio/cassette to something more modern but, I can't get the darn thing out. I have the slim removal keys and pushed the spring clips on either side of the radio, but it won't budge. Before I get really physical with it, can somebody give some advice please? Wouldn't the best tool have to be a Diagbox (computer/notebook) with the OBD2 connection to the car? I know there are a lot of handheld scanners, that connect to the same connector, but for the PSA group cars, I think if a technician doesn't have a Diagbox package, he's not a specialist ... Came across a new product yesterday in one of the builders merchants I use regularly, now normally I'd poo poo a product that makes such outrageous claims to cure leaks, including a screw hole in a plastic pipe, in heating systems. radiators etc, with no chance of clogging, however, I've been using a sealant/ adhesive from the makers, and...

Hi

As said, tried it but would not trust it with anything other than a temp repair. On Rads, we would just turn it off with the valve and lock-shield, then de-pressurise....so not much use to us.

In cars, well anything that leaks needs replacing so why not use it.
My ONLY caveat is a leak into oil...??? Some may be tempted to use it without...

Can anyone help with sourcing a replacement n/s foglight/indicator cluster for my 1998 XM Exclusive? Mine seems to be disintegrating from the inside out.

I've tried eBay but the only one I found was o/s. Pity 'cos it was a genuine, boxed Citroen part.

Someone elsewhere has suggested a cut and shut approach with the existing one, but I'd rather...

Hi, is it best to source your wishbone bushes from main dealer ? rather than motor factor ? will main dealer bushes last longer ? thanks in advance Terry. :?:

There's lots of pattern ones out there for about £20 e@ or less, quality unknown, Genuine ones are about £35 from Citroen. The genuine ones may well have alignment marks on. As Sparksie has said, the alignment is critical, any bush wont last long if it's positioned badly.

I have a 97 relay 1.9 Can anyone help me with the procedure for how to change the fuel filter. Not done it on this van and I think its probably about time I gave it a go.

There are quite a few versions of filter on these, the most common is like a screw on oil filter & is situated behind the air filter behind the n/s headlamp.
Remove the airfilter lid 4 Philips type screws, and the filter can be seen. Undo the wiring clip that joins to the water sensor in the base of the filter, and simply unscrew the whole...

ok,
so I have now got myself a 2.2 se exclusive and am very pleased with it,never seen so much service history........one thing to note, looking in the book, it says if the parking sensors when reverse is engaged, makes a short beep,followed by a long beep,this indicates a fault.....does anybody know what this is?? is it a big job?? not having it...

I didn't have problems with them yet but if I were to find the broken one I would ...
Parking sensor(s) caused service text warning with a sharp beep sound in my car. Until I got the new replacement part I disabled the parking sensors from the button on the lower dashboard. Today I replaced the broken sensor (the one next to front left fog light)...

Although I solve the problem with the heater matrix, new one came. On the road to work when I wanted to change in the fourth gear the gearbox made a crunchy noise.
Now I can not use anymore the fourth gear, the shifter jump out.
I will repair this by myself and with this occasion I will change the clutch kit.

The power steering will bleed itself (as already happened when you refilled the reservoir). Replacing the pipe will be messy as hydraulic fluid will run out of the damaged pipe and the line that feeds it. It's vital to clean off before starting work and to make sure absolutely no dirt gets into the hydraulic system. Check the size(s) required and...

I thought I would share the news, a couple of weeks ago the radiator goo stopping my Xantia heater matrix from leaking finally let go, nasty sticky steam on the windows and red water in the passenger footwell, :cry:

I am in the process of fitting tow bar electrics when the nearside tail indicator stopped working. The rest of the electrics are all working including the other two nearside indicators.

I have checked the multi plug at the light cluster and there is no supply. The rest of the lights in the cluster are working.

I'm not sure how to proceed....

Has anyone had trouble getting a windcreen replaced recently? I have just had a phone call from the company who are doing the work today to say that they are having problems finding me a screen. They have tried four suppliers without success. The one fitted on the car is a thermal (heat reflective) type with a rain sensor. Just wondering if...

Hi.
I have changed the electric suspension pump on my 2003 C5 2.0 HDI. When I pressurized the system and the car came up, it went to the top and won't come down. Could it need matching to the ECU before it will move now.
There is a warning SERIOUS SUSPENSION FAULT and the control button brings up the message 6MPH which as you know is the highest...

I have worked out the wiring diagram for the back lights but I am having trouble getting a feed for the reverse lights. The only feed i can verify is on the tail-gate, but i'm hoping i don't have to run a wire all the way from the tail light cluster to the lights on the tail gate.

Any suggestions would be welcome. :lol:

There's a 16 pin connector just below the C pillar trim that has a reverse light feed in it, used it a few times for parking sensors. It's been a while but from memory it's the drivers side the connector is behind, if no joy check passengers side.

Had a road tyre moved from rear offside to front nearside today and noticed the steering wheel was a couple of degrees out of straight. What have they done?

Cheers Ian. The problem is, the steering wheel was out when they started, and its still out! The other thing is, I'm off down to Surrey this weekend and time is short. I can't get it back to them before I go, and it will be another 3-4 weeks and possibly 1500 miles before I get back. I'm losing the will to live.

Hi

Slightly confused about this, my Xant TD is going for its first MOT since I decatted it last May after the pipe failed just fore of the cat. I fitted a straight through pipe and the car runs better with good torque and better mpg.

There appears to be an MOT update stating that is a cat is missing from a vehicle that was originally fitted with...

any foreign body inside the case can cause the belt to break or jump teeth with catastrophic results

I guess that having the undershield fitted might help prevent foreign bodies getting where they shouldn't, although my TD has never had one in my 16 yrs of ownership. Also wonder if not having an undershield reduces the life of the auxillary belt...

Our Laguna 3 has the electronic handbrake and it's fantastic on that, never gave any issues at all and would pick an electronic handbraked laguna over a normal one anyday.
For what reason?

Don't you know how to pull a handbrake on ?

Can you not do a hill start with a normal handbrake?

Hi im thinking of scrapping my 97 P reg 1.9td zanty estate as heater don't work right head gasket has a slight blow(been like it for 4 years!)get bit of pressure if going up hills! but as said been like it since engine went in and been everywhere. does let water in the tail gate as was rear ended before i got it why i got it for £32.50 cat C.but...

when i fitted a new door sill to my friends Picasoooo, on cutting the old one off i found all the sill drains were blocked solid, with the same rubberised under body coating citroen coat the underside of there cars with,

so the sill fills with water and in turn rots the sill away from inside out

Just in case anyone is interested I tested the USB connection in the centre console in my recently acquired 11 plate estate

You can not only connect a USB stick but also an ipad - coupled with spotify premium you can store 3000 songs offline and play the lot throughout the cars audio - tested works ok
