BE3 gearbox parts distributers?

Post by romie »

Hey, I'm after a BE3 fifth gear and its synchro.

Other than the main dealer, I'm finding it difficult to find other part sources.
Any links?
Thanks

Couldn't find anything on ebay

A scrap gearbox from a similar vehicle is still your best answer Romie ;)

Chances are the 5th gear assemblies will be good; it's not usual for them to wear a great deal... It's third gear that normally goes...

Hi, hmm.
Just the fifth gear and the synchro from the main dealer comes to: £273
I agree, I think it would be more advantageous to have another gearbox and grab donor parts. But I'm concerned that I'll end up with not the right ones?

See, even directly for my VIN number, there are FIVE different part numbers for the fifth gear alone!! :o :o :o
Citroen themselves were having a very hard time just trying to find out which part number I needed! :?

What do you think?
It's possible I could change the fifth gears mating cog, but I've not had to remove that as yet and I'd like to just change the worn two parts if possible.

ah, this is interesting.
There is a part substitution for 2333 43 (fifth gear)

Any ideas how I can tell for sure that my gearbox is the BE3 and not one of the others?
Is there a number on the gearbox somewhere to fully define it exactly?

Thanks

Romie,

In service citroen you print off the profile for your Xantia when it came out of the factory which lists everything including your gearbox type.

I did my daughter's focus gearbox and it was 1 and 2 gear gear shifter which had worn.I'll try and find the company again and see if they do Xantia boxes.

Romie,

I got my daughter's bits from autogears. I had quick look but couldn't find Xantia synchros etc but maybe worth phoning them as Peugeots also used the same gearbox. As you have the specifics for your box, they maybe able to help.

Just found this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-CITRO ... SwymxVMQVa

They may have your gear and synchro

Also have at look at this lot http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-CITRO ... SwymxVMQVa

Hi, yes I will. Thanks!

Yes I saw the first ebay item a while ago. Unfortunately it is the wrong part number. it ends 42, mine ends 43. Ratio is different and so is physically different.
And so is the second ebay link you sent.
Oh, they are actually the same part if you look at the ebay numbers in the links you sent.
Thanks tho.

The part numbers I need are:
Citroen Original fifth gear and synchro: 233343 and 238804
Citroen Substitute fifth gear and synchro: 2344E9 and 238832

Citroen part numbers:
Fifth gear
DRIVE GEAR
233343
01 5EME 47DTS (47X31)
LE-2006
Substitute part number:
2344E9

Synchro
MANUAL GEAR-BOX SYNCHRONIZER
238804
01 5EME 22X24
LE-2015
Substitute part number:
238832

I was looking around on ebay for gearboxes.

I see posts with different 'codes' mentioned.
Like this: "PEUGEOT 406 & CITROEN XANTIA 1.9 TD GEARBOX / TRANSMISSION 5 SPEED CODE 20TA49"

Any idea where do I find that code number?

Is it anything to do with these codes?
GEARBOX (CHARACTERISTICS): BE3
TRANSMISSION : BVM5

Thanks
