Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I had a 'gearbox faulty' error a few years ago on my 2005 c5. ( gears jumping, all dash lights on etc. ) An auto gearbox specialist repaired it and it has been ok until recently when the same problem has occured.
The repair was the replacement of 'pressure solenoids' ( I think ) and it cost £720! Of course the guarantee has expired and I...

There will be a breather on top with a plastic 'cap' that should pull out.
Filling is easier through that - not that I have done it on any of my Citroëns :(

Alternatively remove the reversing light switch and fill through that hole.

Looks like my turbo is past it and it's time for a new one. I have a Synergie 1.9D XUD which gives me the pool of any turbocharged XUD out there (306, 405 etc).

But are the turbos on the newer 2.0 HDis the same (or compatible) with mine?

If anyone could confirm with Service Box the vehicles I can take the turbo from I'd appreciate that

My 2010 C3 Picasso only has the 3.5 Aux port, is it possible to replace with the combined Aux/USB port, is the wiring in place and connected to the radio/CD to do this?

Depending on your radio/nav unit, but I doubt it ... if the radio/nav unit has the USB capability, it would definitely have it factory fitted ... depending on the actual unit, it might be possible to add the usb cable, but the options are very limited ... the USB BOX solution could be installed in the place of a CD changer (either PSA onre, or...

Bodged it by running a jumper from the RHS terminal of the Brown connector to the RHS terminal of the Black connector on the ignition switch.

Presumably there is a broken wire somewhere (it is the brown connector that has lost power) but I have no idea where. May try and trace it sometime, may...

Here's hoping somebody can offer advice, I have been given a Leather steering wheel for my C3 Picasso VTR+ and would like to fit to my car, but question is how do I remove the airbag module to get at the nut holding the steering wheel. There is a big metal clip on the new wheel which I assume holds the airbag in place but not sure how to...

Thanks for the information, looking at the new wheel I realised just one big clip holding the airbag in place operated with a flat bladed screwdriver. I managed to get the airbag off but was unable to determine how to disconnect the wiring it all seemed to be designed not to be unclipped so back to square one. May speak to local...

I'm lacking turbo boost at the usual 2000 or so revs that I'd normally get. When it reaches high revs (nowhere near redlining but still labouring it) it has a slight but sudden power drop. Everything's fine and as normal except for it becomes defeated by steep hill or high speeds, needing me to accelerate more and/or drop a gear. Anything below...

My starter motor is showing signs of being on its way out and I can harvest one from a spares repairs Peugeot 405. They're both the XUD engine so I'd assume they're one and the same

Can anyone confirm one way or the other?

Hi all,
I'm having a couple of issues that have reared 6 weeks before holiday. Latest one.
2008 C5 X7 2.2Hdi Exclusive Tourer.

This morning went to scrapyard for my Mum's Mondeo. Came out of scrapyard and Tailgate is open and car unlocked as mirrors were deployed. Drove up to another scrappy 10 mins away. Took toolkit out of boot and closed it....

Mine has tailgate gremlins too (randomly opens sometimes when I open the drivers door, or unlock the car etc.)

I haven't looked into it yet, but the advice on here is that the loom (wires) between the body and the tailgate are probably damaged or have internal breaks in them, because they're very thin wires (due to the multiplex system). That's...

Hi

One of my greatest fears became a reality today as I suddenly experienced an extensive coolant smell in the cabin. I initially tought that the small leak from the main radiator is the reason but as soon as I switched on the blower the steam was on the front screen. I read somewhere from the manual that handbrake cables need to be loosened...

At first I removed two golden bolts and one screw in the front side to split the heater box but I soon understood that there is one more screw at the backside of the heaterbox that is almost impossible to acsess. Somehow I managed to remove it but I am not sure I can get it back again. I am going to bypass the heater...

The suspension's not an issue, i've a spare arm in the shed but what's the possible cause of the 'rear brake imbalance'?

I was under the impression that this couldn't be a fail due to the design of the xantia which directs more pedal pressure to the front...

firstly what day/date was it failed as you get 10 working days to get the re/test, this is not including weekends and bank holidays,

if the garage try a clean up first, ask them if they could put it back on the brake rollers/tester before logging it back onto VOSA's computer/system,

because once its been logged on you loose your free retest,...

s someone got an XM power steering ram laying around they could measure the diameter of its body,

as although i have found a good used ram leak off rubber collar for my BX, as the little stub/spout fell off whilst i was doing the dreaded N/S rack gaiter,
and this collar is NFP from the dealers now, but the XM one is still showing as available

hi guys been quit a while but had one or two things going on with the picasso now fixed again it's that stupid brake light switch it seams to keep moving in it's plastic holder so super glued it in ,,, now about the gear box thing i would like to fit a automatic gearbox to the car! as my better half has a bad knee and ankle has any one ever did...

I would say that it would be very difficult and expensive to convert to automatic transmission, there are many parts that need to be changed over, and the automatic transmission for that car would be electronic controlled so wiring harnessses, and the engine ECU would also need to be changed.

Much cheaper to find another good car with automatic...

Or should I just get the parts and get a garage to do it (I need it done on a shoestring and asap, too much month at the end of the money at the moment)?

Last week I sat into my 2010 C5 after lunch and I notice the Lion logo appearing on the Screen where normally I saw the Citroen Logo. Anyone got any ideas about how this happened? Or how to resolve? Hello,

I have been plagued for years by Noisy auxiliary/serpentine belt Tensioner pulley's, when the pulley has been replaced
it has been stripped down and greased fully before reassembly, but it somehow dries out again within a few months
and the bearings get noisy again. This noise seems to travel through the whole car it is especially bad...

Had clutch failure on the new (to me) Xantia, thrust bearing was pulling out of the spring plate, seems to be a failure of the spring clip. Really need the car this week to collect a load of parts and probably to sleep in over the bank holiday weekend. My fellow mechanic has been dragged off on holiday by daughter No 1 so I was on my own, never...

Just detail on C3 rear bumper removal as I have now done it, as usual simple but a couple of hidden bits. Also as Richard said no need to jack up the car to fit towbar or bumper. I just noticed the car in the video is on two jacks and not one axle stand, not one to do on a windy day in case it blows over.

It's unwise to go on circuit pressure to determine the amount of charge, the pressure will vary too much depending on temperature which is why aircon systems are filled by weight. However you could get hold of a re-gas can and put a few extra psi in the system to see if it works but proceed with caution because you really don't know how much gas...

So my xantia woes start again ... battery not charging >:(

The battery light came on, and goes off if I rev the engine high enough, the lights goes out. The battery is not charging and I can tell you the car lasts 30 mins without the battery being charged.

Ok, I give in, how do I get a wire through the bulkhead on a 2006 C3. Lots of grommets but I can't seem to push a wire through, even using my trusty wire coathanger tool.

They do look similar to the tool we have, ours differ in that both jaws have the cut out in them, and they don't open as much as those ones. I think they're a pair of cutters to remove the insulation from around a cable, but they seem to work for the type of clips that hold the LHM pipes to the tank.

Whilst I'm happy to fix my own C5 X7, I'm reminded that Citroen advertised a 100,000 miles warranty on these cars when they were new - can anyone remember? The cooling fan on our 2006 car was broken when we got it in 2010 (found out the hard way!). Strangely, Lexia thought (assumed) it was running, so the aircon will work until the pressure sensors are tripped.

I've got a Valeo fan for a C3 here...it just didn't fit our 1.6! The Valeo part number is 696238 - let me know if it's any use to you....

Ok so less than 1 week into a new relationship she's let me down, driving home last night clutch went straight to floor and stayed there on the Xantia Hdi estate. managed to drive it the rest of the way in 2nd gear. When reverse gear is selected the heater blower sounds like it has gotten faster, but there is no change in fan blades on the control unit.

im not saying there is nothing wrong with your C5 brakes, but the big difference between them and the ones on the XANT, the XANT's brakes are powered by the hydraulic system, so your foot pressure only opens a valve to let the hydraulic pressure through to varying degrees,

were as the C5 has conventional brakes and your foot creates the pressure...
