Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Got a 2000 sx model and when do full lock turns I get a strange clonking noise, sound horrible, had a quick look but can't see nothing that's causing it, anyone else had this ? Worried incase something brakes :-(

It's possible that the CV joint / driveshaft needs replacing if it's clunking on turning - more noticeable on full lock driving off. Best to get it on a ramp at your local garage to confirm.

If there is no running faults with the car i doubt the EGR valve is faulty. If it was stuck open it would be down on power, if it was stuck closed it would run normally & it wouldnt bring the management light/anti pollution light on on this engine.

The dreaded clutch clip has failed again, so it's release arm nylon bush failure (isn't it?). I'm getting too old to struggle with heavy transmissions so the job is being delegated to a local indie who have a Peugeot-Citroen specialist. It's going to be very expensive in labour (for someone who hasn't paid a garage bill for 20 years!) so it seems...

Failed the MoT on rear wheel bearings - looked into it a little bit, and am starting to get a bit worried.

Okay, so you need to buy the whole hub, not just the bearing - GSF do them for 40 odd quid or something. But I'm worried about replacing them.
Haynes says that you need a puller - has anyone done this job? What sort of a puller do you need?...

Earlier in this thread, reference was made to removing the part of the bearing left on the stub axle after removing the hub, and the careful use of angle grinder. I can vouch for use of angle grinder, having used one when I changed a BX rear hub many moons ago - it had done circa 200k. I fitted a new hub from scrappy.

I have a 2.0 Hdi, 2005 Berlingo which has recently begun a weird coolant problem..

The red 'STOP' message comes up on the dash coupled with the red radiator symbol. This can happen even when the car is cold. I lift the bonnet and see that the expansion tank is showing coolant to be low. So I unscrew the top and at a certain point there's a rush...

So, bit the bullet and went for a remanufactured engine rather than a second hand one (head gasket gone). New clutch plate, new heating matrix, new radiator, injectors sent off for testing, fuel pump tested and reprogrammed, etc, etc.

First morning yesterday and it was cold and it didn't want to start. When it did it sounded like a pig. Banging...

The mechanics are being sorted, the interior is scruffy, needs a new windscreen seal and a paint job. No use discussing costs as for me, seen for the UK perspective cars are expensive but maintenance is cheap.

Hi All,
I have a Lexia clone and a while ago I used it to change my tyre size from 15 to 16 . I have now put 15 back on but computer is saying 4 tyre pressure monitors missing. My 2.0 lr 2002 C5 does not have tpms fitted, I can't find how to change it in my Lexia.

Hi my car is down on power eml is on and has a warning of depollution system faulty . I had a diagnostic done and it came back as turbo solenoid faulty does anyone know where this is located on the 1.6 hdi engine as I can find pictures of what it looks like but can't find it in the engine bay. All fixed now traced it back to a break in the electrical cable so cheers for idea of checking the voltage. Repaired the break and Repositioned the cable so hopefully it won't happen again. Cost £95 for a part I didn't need in the end but at least everything's working how it should. Really appreciated all the help everyone offered.

Hi guys,

I've owned a C5 2.0 hdi VTR 110 2003 for just over an year now. I'm relatively happy with the car so far. Fitted it with a ronbox for improved fuel consumption and some extra power.

Recently, it has developed weird vibration which comes and goes, I can feel it when standing at traffic lights on idle/neutral or when I try to maintain...

OK - as you can see it could be many things, so I would have to suggest getting it on a Lexia and run a full global test, clear the faults and re-test. Post back any faults you have to aid further diagnosis as without this we are really just making guesses. you don't want to be spending unnecessarily. :)

Hi

I have a C4 THP make year 2009. My car comes without Xenon headlights. I can get a pair of C4 original Xenon headlamps with the ballast. The car has ESP system. My question is if I mount the Xenon headlights will the directional option work ? Since the car comes with ESP there is steering position sensor.

My indicator switch has a dodgy connection when I indicate to turn right. The problem only started recently. If I press hard it will work, otherwise sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. Have thought to dismantle to either i) check for dry joint somewhere, or ii) clean contacts with methylated spirits.

Hello. Car had been starting, running well. Had a full load, people and shopping, stopped for 2 mins to get the post. Car wouldn't start and with ignition on the dash lights were flashing and the speedo and rev counter madly bouncing up and down. Disconnecting the battery didn't help. Hi guys,

I've got my eye on a 2.0 auto petrol, fuel consumption aside, is this config a reliable one? Does anyone here have any experience with the 2.0 EW10 engine? What autobox is it mated to? as its had to find any info on them at all. For example, cambelts, gearbox oil etc, what should I be looking out for as it has covered around 100,000...

Ok according to the brochure at the time of the 08 model there were was only 1 box fitted to the petrol (both Saloon and Tourer Autos) and that was the AL4 4 speed sequential auto-adaptive automatic. As soon as you have the VIN, I'll send you the spec sheet. :wink:

From 2009 the Petrol was only available on the Saloon and that went to a 6 Speed...

Hi all I have a 2003 relay with a leaking fuel pump,she starts and drives fine but has an annoying leak..I have seen that seal kits are cheap enough but can't seem to find any information on replacing them, has anyone any experience of changing the seals, also is a puller needed to remove the pump sprocket from its taper? Thanks in advance

I've done a couple of these.
If you're brave, do the whole lot, but some of the o-rings and nylon washers are very fiddly, as is reinstalling the three piston / spring assemblies. Be methodical, take your time and lay each assembly out in order as you dismantle.
Otherwise, just remove the end cover (I'm guessing it's leaking from the end seal...

Came back from my daughters having being there a month or so DIY , tried to turn over engine of this car using ignition key as I always do periodically as it stands there on the drive unused most of the time. Clunk not turning over at all, thinking it may be the battery not having enough in it to turn the starter over I did a conductance test...

Edit: just read you have started the engine.

Shouldn't be that bad I have currently an old TU engine TU9 ML/Z which had been standing 15 years still without moving and it was a dry dry engine. Well stored in very good condition with only 11.000mls.
First I put new engine oil in it.

Then did put a ratchet on the crankshaft and oil and turn it...

Which glow plugs do you use for WVO? I mounted NGK plugs and they were dead after just 4 months. I am running 70%WVO and 30% diesel. I would rather pay a bit more for plugs that will last at least a year. Changing them is a fiddly job...

Personally, I never rated NGK ones very highly... Try a set of BERU ones...

Can somebody be so kind and measure the boot space for a Xantia Estate, please see colour code below, as i do not have a Xantia estate to play with, or any local to me.

Green = lowest part of roof to floor
Blue = Top width of boot
Red = Bottom width of boot
Yellow = Front to back
Purple = Widest part of boot

Hi all doing a routine check this morning I noticed that the orange disc in the sight level glass was up in the top of the glass, I checked it with the engine running and the lever on high position and the disc didn't move, its got me puzzled as its never happened before in 7 years, any ideas would be much appreciated,,, Cheers, ps no warning...

Just changed clutch in the car. Put the battery back on and the drivers side indicator light on the side and front are on constant along with all the side lights, front and back. When I put the ignition on, after about 10 seconds the headlights come on. The windows, horn, central locking, indicator or wiper stalks dont work. Ive tried resetting...

Well done on getting it started. You really need to get it on a Lexia now to see what is going on - this should allow you to test if the lights etc can work when activated direct from the BSI, and to see if the BSI is receiving signals from the COM 2000 / other switches. This will then give you a pointer as to whether you need to start stripping...

Hi,
I have a Citroen C3 Sensodrive, which we have used quite happily for 4 years now.
On Sunday night it developed a noise, which I think maybe the clutch, but neither the local garage or myself are sure.

I originally thought that it was from the auxiliary belt,but all seems ok there.

The gearbox is working absolutely fine, clutch actuator is...

Hi

I have a C4 with AL4 and THP engine ( 140 bhp ). Today the Anti pollution system fault appears. But the check engine that is illuminated and the message itself the car drives OK. The car make year is 2009 and it has only 20K miles. Any ideas ?

Although the rear spheres are best crack off 1/2 a turn or so whilst under pressure at high setting, I am guessing this method should not be applied to the rear antisink sphere, because the supply pipe needs to be detached first. Is that right?

Excellent. Well, I got it off OK , and I had soaked it in plus gas for a few days (while I waited for arrival of a 3.5mm die for flare tool to tackle a supply pipe replacement). I think it made a great difference to have soaked it like that.

Then I found I'd been sent the wrong sphere! Put the old sphere back on! Huh… my fault for not checking...

About to take it all apart to fix the broken bulbs, does anybody have a source for the correct bulbs in the heater panel ?

Any good guides for their replacement, I understand the unit needs to come out/taken apart. ?

Hi,
I have a 59 plate C5 3.0 HDI Exclusive Saloon and the AC fan has started to make a clicking sound as if something is caught in the fan blade. It doesn't affect anything but is very annoying when driving for any length of time!

Can't help you with the AC noise - but here's instructions for the Pollen Filter:

Pics shown are for a Left Hand Drive - for a RHD, the relevant trim is on the left hand side (clutch pedal side on a manual).
1) Remove the trim as stated above, shown as (1) on Picture below:

2) Unclip the Pollen Filter flaps shown as (a) on the picture.

Evening folks just been stung buying a 2002 C5 2.0 Hdi SX, spent two days working on it and the final straw has just come when I had to phone the missus to come and let me out as I was locked in so if possible I would appreciate some help as i have tried the obvious stuff.

Hi all, my Nan has a 2008 reg xsara Picasso. When indicating right, there is a constant beeping coming from the steering column. This also happens when the headlights are turned off.

Have got a friend who has a c5 type 2 06 plate 2 hdi rhr and on start up only seems to fire on 2 cylinders and emits lots of smoke?Once warm it runs fine apart from a slight misfire at 4000 revs but still pulls like a train.
The injectors are new as are the glow plugs and the ecu has also been sent away and checked,when put on his snap on...

The jury is still out on whether it's actually worked, but before I did the above procedure I could provoke clutch slip in the right conditions at will, and I've not been able to provoke any slip since I did the procedure. I'll give it about 500 miles of problem free driving before I celebrate :)

Can someone please tell me how bad this is? i know its somewhat normal for a C5 to have damp struts, but as seen in this picture, its actually a 'drip' you can see where its running down, all the wheel arch is soaked in LDS fluid. looks in the engine bay its not coming from the top, and its not coming from the return, can only assume the strut...

Are you sure the leak isn't from the return pipe near the point where it is pushed onto the steel pipe at the body. It is not normal for things to be that damp.

The feed and return fuel lines come into the engine bay, along the top of the timing end of the engine, under the plastic trim cover, then they attach to the engine side lines with plastic quick release connectors. The tabs you squeeze to release those pipes can sometimes seize up a little bit, preventing them from sealing properly. When you remove the hose, squeezing the tabs in and out a few times and maybe removing and refitting the pipe to the spigot a couple of times is usually enough to get them to seal again.
