Beloved C5 For Sale (failed MOT)

Unread post by KTY »

My lovely 2005 Ice Grey C5 hatchback has become economically unviable for me to repair for it's MOT so I am now offering her up for either spares or repair.
She's given me great service over the last 10yrs and mechanically has been well looked after with regular servicing etc. Externally she's in decent condition.
In 2016 she had a suspension pump and some pipes replaced by Citroen (£1600!!) and under a year ago had a new battery fitted with a 5 yrs guarantee. Lots of paperwork to support this.
She has the usual wear and tear expected of the 110000 miles she has done but if you are keen do it yourselfer I'm sure you will get many more years out of her.
Apart from anything I am an avid re-cycler. I'd like to think that her organs at the very least will benefit another poor C5!
As she is now an MOT failure she will need to be lifted. She is currently near Bentham, North Yorks/Lancashire boarder.
Offers over £200 welcome

What (if you don't mind me asking) did she fail on? Although I would not be interested, others might, and would want to know what needs to be done to her.

Do not drive until repaired (dangerous defects):
Rear Exhaust silencer likely to become detached (8.1.1 (b) (ii))
Offside Rear Brake hose ferrule excessively corroded and likely to fail (1.1.12 (f) (ii))
Repair immediately (major defects):
Nearside Front Position lamp not working (4.2.1 (a) (ii))
Central Rear Seat belt not functioning as intended (7.1.2 (c))
Nearside Rear Brake disc significantly and obviously worn (1.1.14 (a) (i))
Offside Rear Brake disc significantly and obviously worn (1.1.14 (a) (i))
Rear Fuel tank insecure (6.1.3 (a) (i))
Nearside Front Suspension arm ball joint excessively worn (5.3.4 (a) (i))
Rear Exhaust on a vehicle fitted with a diesel particulate filter emits visible smoke of any colour (8.2.2.2 (d))
Exhaust emissions exceed level of metered smoke for a turbo charged engine (8.2.2.2 (b))
Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):
Offside Rear Direction indicator slightly discoloured (4.4.3 (a))
Nearside Front Tyre worn close to legal limit/worn on edge (5.2.3 (e))
Nearside Front Shock absorbers light misting of oil or has limited damping effect (5.3.2 (b))
Nearside Rear SUSPENSION PIPES CORODED.
Offside Rear SUSPENSION PIPES CORODED.
That it's smoking, and supposedly DPF equipped, probably means it is a long way from being economically viable....

If you are near Belfast ferry you can take it over here and get your ticket. We don't do emissions tests: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-45643031
Although the list is long even without the emissions.
