Suspension Height

Unread post by KennyW »

Hi All,

About to sort out my front suspension height on X7, but I need to know if mine has an suspension ECU or not.

As instructions state once height is within the correct parameters i.e., 130mm -190mm optimum 160 mm, to input into diagbox and allow the car to do the rest.

My X7 has electronic suspension in the global test but this always comes up No communication in red. Does this mean not fitted ?

VIN attached for VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] info

Kenny

On 4 Cylinder X7 Hydractive models the suspension ECU is incorporated into the BHI (Suspension ECO_tech) or similar name
On 6 Cylinder Models, there is a separate suspension ECU (CSS).

It is essential that the ignition is on when adjusting / measuring height data.

Also - be aware that there is a ghost fault for the suspension ECU when using Diagbox. This is triggered as a result of the diagnostic kit interrogating the suspension ECU and leaving it in a particular state.

Thanks for the reply Marc, but please excuse my ignorance what is the BHI ecu ?

I've to deal with ghosts as well !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the heads up Marc.

Kenny

PS I've just found an article on BHI ( Built in Hydroelectronic Interface ) which has helped me understand the principals behind the suspension.

Ok, so on the 4 Cylinder models the BHI consists of the motor / pump, the hydraulic block and the ECU in a combined unit. It is the same for the 6 Cylinder models, except that those have a separate suspension ECU that is similar to the C6 - but does not have the AMVAR function.

The 2 height correctors on the 4 Cylinder versions feed their data into the suspension ECU built into the BHI.
The 6 Cylinder versions (2.7 and 3.0) have 4 height correctors (one on each wheel) and these feed their data into the separate suspension ECU (CSS). So the height sensor data channels on the integrated BHI suspension computer for 6 Cyl models is disabled.

So the only one you need to worry about is the Suspension_ECOTECH
