Squeaky noise

Unread post by Si7 »

There seams to be a squeaky noise every time I put my foot down on the clutch I can here it with and without the engine on it seams to be coming from the slave cylinder clutch area I tryed a spraying a bit of grease in there but no good, I have taken it to my local garage who has said he thinks it could be my clutch itself and to replace everything its £850... Any ideas.

It could help to know which car you have the problem with. :D

That definitely will help (although I cannot offer you any further advise). However, if you post up the VIN (which will, for security reasons, be obscured so only Moderators can see it) a Moderator will be able to look up your car and then give you better information than I can.

I have the VIN already.

It's possible that it is simply the spring: See item 9 on the diagram - it's the declutching spring. Some thick grease may help.

Just checked that spring defiantly seems to be under the bonnet the noise only happens when pressed down on release there is no sound at all.

I wonder do these suffer from metal fatigue at the pedal mounting bracket? Any distortion would produce a creak when loaded (pedal down) :?
Has anyone seen the plot? :?

Is there anyway I can regrease the clutch slave cylinder without taking it of as there is a rubber overit to protect it. It seams to be attached some how.
