Confusing AM6 gearbox oil

Unread post by Bandit12 »

hi Guys

About to do a partial oil change on my AM6 autobox so looked on fleabay and found 2 apparently identical oils (both JWS3309) but very different prices.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/181247273760?ul_noapp=true

https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/371711619574?ul_noapp=true

both appear to have the same spec though neither list Citroen in their suitability. Should I use the cheaper one or go with Opie oils and mobil?

Any advice is appreciated

Is what i bought for mine - i did 3 x 4 litre changes. Mine was brown with an odour (i suspect i will need to replace the valve block). However the changes for me have helped. Dont forget to level set it after your fill

The Mobil one is the one recommended by Aisin Warner but in mine I used the Comma equivalent from my local motor factor, came at about a tenner a litre.
I didn't shop around for the best price because I run an account with the factor less than a mile away and have done for forty years.

Thanks guys I'll order 5 litres of the westway 3309 and see how I get on. And yes thanks for the reminder about setting the level. The whole procedure is a bit of a faff but I'll take my time.

I used this
https://www.tecmotor.fr/huile-transmiss ... ne_vidange
The last change was still darker than the Volvo chap's first! Needs doing again soon (and possibly a block at some point. 5th to 6th can be lumpy when cold, 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 1st when hot)
5 litres won't go very far, that's only one good change with a bit left over

Notice the BX is still top the list but sadly gone

Had a shift flair a few weeks ago, thought the box was going to explode! My issue is a double or triple down shift - say 6 >3 or 5 >2 . Double (6>4) is alot better now. But i am looking at doing the block. Are the chinese pattern parts any good? The price difference to the UK ones is massive.
