Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

i think it would be easier to chop the front of with a petrol curb stone cutter,

just last week had all the down pipe/cat/FAP off,
now i fine it all has to come back off just to get one bell houseing bolt which goes in from the engine side, its head

Currently stripping all useful bits of my 98 1.9 406td estate before iit goes to meet its maker and its got about half a tank of fuel in. This would obviously be better in my wifes citroen than a tank at the breakers.
Whats the easiest way to get it out?

Hi Guys
Any thoughts on this one would be appreciated. Turn ignition on and the engine management light comes on plus an anti pollution warning on the radio display. I only have experience of this fault with diesels!!

Ive had this problem for ages now but just as im messing around with our cars im trying to get to the bottom of the problem.

I fitted a in tank lift pump a while ago after a catestrophic fail and its been great.

However from time to time when I turn the ignition on it fails to start. It keeps turning over but not starting. Since ive moved house...

Hi All
A friend of mine asked me to look at his daughters 206 as it had a knock coming from suspension. She was relieved of £500 by her local garage who said her McPhearson struts were worn and causing the knocking. Allas it was not them at all I lifted up car and gave the front suspension a thorough looking oveer with pry bar found no worn bushes...

Take it back to the garage who charged £500 to replace struts that have not cured the fault,I`ve never had 206 struts knocking they should not get away with it !!.As said above,favorite is front drop links,but that is more of a click than a heavy knock. this car is a 2005 307 HDI 110 in limp home mode with 18MPH on the display,

i have had the FAP out and steam cleaned it and the cat (not jet washed), and attemted to fill the fluid tank,
this would not take any fluid at all.

Mothers got a 307 SW 1.9HDi on a 53 plate, cars only done 40k (she bought it with 32k), she mentioned its been slow starting, so I suggested counting to to ten after the glow plug lights out which has meant apart from the latest cold spell its fired up First...

I'd probably go with the slow turning too, especially this weather (talking of which my battery is about dead too) :D , it does need to crank at a decent speed really.

I guess it could be bad main battery leads / earths or a bad starter motor but that's a bit unlikely.

Chaps, a guy at work has just told me his 110K 206 ought to have a service, as he has not touched it since 30K ..

It was icy i deforsedmycar at work. Then driving home i could hardly see. The main beam as gone. It was fine everother nite. The fog lights are working so the dimm lights. But when you put full beam on theres nothing. Just the same as the dimm lights

I have a 206 1.9 diesel year 2000 been shutting off intermittently (which would allow restart after an hour or a few days depending on how it felt) now gone permanent. It's either the stop solenoid it's self or something triggering it probably the ECU which would be my guess as getting nothing on diagnostics. I'm thinking along the lines of...

I had an advisory on the MOT to say they were missing, but as the poor old thing was made in 1992 I can't really complain.
Are the rear bump stops common across the range, ones for the 205GTi seem plentiful enough on ebay but will they fit the humble 205D?

Not true. I've had various post 1991 Rovers in my time pass the emissions tests with no cat. Just had to be warmed up prior to going to the test station.

A car can fail emissions test with a cat fitted just as some cars can pass with no cat fitted.

Hi There.
Im just looking @ an advert for a 1998 806 Roland Garros with 96000 miles. One of the problems is the heater does not work. they have been told its the waxstat (has A/C). Does anyone know if this is the case OR what it might be. Also does this 1.9td have a bosch pump, thanks tony.

Could well be stuck (open) or missing thermostat along with other causes. As Peter has said will be obvious via very slow temp gauge movement.

Other causes are clogged heater matrix due to coolant change neglect or an airlock in the heater itself (not that uncommon if someone does not know how to bleed it)

The lovely, slightly-shabby 309 I'm trying to sell at the moment has a slight issue. It's a pain in the backside to start and often refuses altogether. Once started, it runs like a dream (as long as your dreams involve the metallic symphony that is Simca valvegear), pulls beautifully and starts from hot, or slightly cold with no problems at...

Well, it started pretty much fine this morning. A routine which seems to work is zero throttle, zero choke. Start, it'll not quite catch and splutter. Pull choke out about one third, start and it'll catch and be fine. It's an odd starting routine but I shall see if it continues to work!

I have a problem, the rear tyres of my 406 Hdi have worn badly on the inside edges, this is obviously partly my fault as when I replaced the tie rods last year I didn't realise that the camber was adjustable via the eccentric washers on the inner end bolt, anyway I have now adjusted them fully out to reduce the camber, the n/s one is...

Thanks for all the info folks, having looked a bit more carefully at the book I find there is a seperate adjustment for the camber and the tracking but the error is definatly in the camber setting as you can see the angle of the wheel is something like an inch out top to bottom, you can actually see it leaning, looks like a Xantia with duff...

hi all summer my 1999 406 td started fine until november when ive had to keep turning it over until battery nearly flat but eventually it starts while its turning puffs of grey smoke comes out then when it goes after a good rev white smoke followed by black then the car runs all day fine until next morning when it all starts again.

Peugeot 307 door lock motor electrical connection.

I've tried and tried to disconnect/unclip the electrical connection from the front motors in the doors with failure.

Anyone know how these thing unclip, to remove the lock motor assembly. With pic or link elsewhere showing hows its done.

OK,

Finally found the problem, the actuator/motor is duff. Connected a bulb and meter to the lock connector pin 3 & 5 as numbered. Hey presto, theres life, so the lock is duff.

Anyone know of the part No. for the L/H/F (passenger dr) and R/H/F (driver dr) locks.

I have button I can press in on the left-hand stalk of the steering wheel but i dont know what it does. The one on the right works the centre display (e.g. range, mpg, etc).

Hello all,

I bought a 53 plate Peugeot 307 SW 2.0HDi 110 estate car from my friend in Birmingham last Saturday. It could also be the speedo electronic mudule.. this is in the passenger footwell, above the carpet in there..
mine had failed twice and causes the loss of speedo and trip.. common fault with 406 coupes, so I imagine also with 406 saloons..

i have a brake fluid low warning come on, i think i saw somewhere that its a sensor on the handbrake thats causing the problem or is it a sensor somewhere else. also where is this sensor located exactly.
the rear suspension also clonks, i think its bushes on the wishbones (or whatever theyre called) i also think ive read that they cant be replaced...

John, find out if your Mégane has BVA model DPO - this is the same gearbox as Peugeot and Citroën apply to similar drivelines - but under their name of AL4. It's what would be in the 206 most likely.

Hope somebody can help me. My dad put £15 worth of petrol in his old 306 1.9 td. I'm going to disconnect the priming bulb from the pump, and pump the tank out, but apparently he ran it and it cut out, so the pump ( a Lucas unit ) has petrol in it. what should i check first
my freinds 05 reg 307 1.6 HDI Quicksilver with VAN/CAN electricary, turned up at my workshop today after just a short very gentle drive for about 2 or 3 minuits from stone cold,
when he turned the engine off the rad fans kept running for quite some time,

I have a problem with the gearbox on the Coupé. All of a sudden with no warning at all, this problem has arisen.

Quite often, I find that on trying to select 3rd (going up or coming down) that it doesn't want to go in. Obviously this means that when I let the clutch out, it just pops back out. 3rd is by far the main culprit but it has happened on...

the thing about reverse is that it is the only gear without synchromesh. If the clutch is dragging slightly the syncros on 1-5 can mask it but the crunching reverse gives the game away.

I'm not sure about this engine moving theory. If your foot is on the clutch then surely the engine is disconnected from the wheels, and so there is no torque...

Bit of a nightmare scenario, while en route to Portugal from France, recently purchased Peugeot 406 HDI began overheating. I pulled over at a service station, bought a container of anti-freeze/coolant, poured it in, waited for the engine to cool down and then hit the road again.

got some (+ a stalk) for my 806 for fitting , was about to start and i notice 1 small detail - the lights are bigger than the cut outs on my bumper.... , erm , is this right? the lights measure 4 inches tall and 10 inches wide , (thats the front of the glass) , yet the cutout is 8inches by 3...

am i doing something wrong??

Viewed from the outside , the driving lamps are slightly shrouded by the bumper - so 100% of the lens isn't visible ( nor does it need to be ) as the lamp assy fits from the rear , since it fits flush up to the rear of the bumper it gives a much neater appearance than having a gap around the outer rim of the lamp.

Hi, friends got a 307 and his clock display does not light up, took the clock out and can see one large plug plugged in to the unit.

There is another small plug on the same loom that does not plug into anything but seems to get power when the lights are switched on.

Any ideas?
Has it got the right clock fitted?

My Pug 406 1.9TD Estate had to complete it's journey home tonight on the tow pole at the back of a RAC van :(
Got all the lights on the way home, stopped instantly, lifted the bonnet and there is play in the belt, too dark to do much investigation. The belt is slack but doesn't appear to have snapped so it could be a pulley / tensioner, hard to...

grab a cam from a wrecker and some (oiled) cam bearing caps.. the difficult bit will be seeing how free the cam is to turn, with all of the valves in there.. as one lobe will always be touching a bucket... but it ius quite obvious.. either it turns or it doesn't.. when the caps are...

Morning all - the car is a S Reg 406 1.9 TD Estate - went to the Mot and it failed on two rear panhard rods, front anti roll bar drop link and front ball joint
I haven't a manual and can't access a piture of the rear suspension or the manual on the web ( and haven't even been under the car yet )
The panhard rods and drop link look pretty...

My drivers side works OK.
The passenger side, when operating the drivers switch would go down and OCCASIONALLY not go up.
No problem because it would go up from the passenger side.
Next day or so it was probably OK!!

This has got worse until the passenger side window wont work from either switch. Luckily it is up!!
