Peugeot 208 advice and experiences please..

Post by mickeymoon »

We are looking at replacing our cars in the near future. The missus likes her 207, but would also like something newer before it starts going wrong (and while we'll be able to afford it).

As the 208 is about the only French modern I'd ever buy, I was wondering if anyone here would have any direct experience with them , specifically the 208 1.2 VTi Access+ model, which on paper looks ideal for her to use. Looking at 2012/13 models, 5 doors.

We were considering a C3 Pic for her, but to be honest, I don't want an MPV, a mini-MPV, an SUV or anything that makes me feel older than I already am! I like a big boot(y), but the only French Estates in my price range are 407s and C5s. 407s, and I mean to offend no-one, just aren't to my taste AT ALL looks wise, either estate or saloon and the C5 doesn't do it for me either, and the fear of leaky struts, racks and the myriad other C5 specific issues put me off anyway.

I know what I'm buying, but I'm not telling you lot or I'll get lynched!

They're not as big inside as the M59 model and they're an MPV thing, and I don't want one!

Fair enough. I get the past an mpv thing. I nearly bought a Picasso lounge, only 4 seats too of the range but it's an mpv so bought the 407 coupe instead. I can see you in a bmw 535d lol

I could see myself in a 520 D M-Sport Touring of 2009/10 vintage, but modern BMW Interiors are just horrible. They're comfy enough, but they start to look scruffy really quickly. No BMWs here I'm afraid.

The Meriva has gone, the Berlingo is back at the moment!

My new vehicle will be German, diesel, and estate.

So I got it right then. Insignias are German really lol

Although more likely to be audi. Which would be ok, my daughters one is proving to be a good car, and my seat which is near enough the same thing is a cracking drive.

What ? ....you have been misinformed on those.

Struts, we know why they leak, eg after being HUNG without removing the LDS cap.....
Rack, inspect the seal before purchase and protect with waterproof grease after you get it.

What other myriad of problems are there ?
