Hi
In need of help.
Its been doing this for a while but now Im having starting problems.
I need to give it some throttle to get it started but still drives well.

Any ideas?

Is the EGR electrically operated on this engine? it sounds to me like an electrical servo struggling/slipping. Could also be a relay chattering but sounds too "heavy" for that IMO.

To be fair, the only way you'll get a definite answer is to plug it into a PP2000 equivalent. Generic readers might not pick up anything or mislead, and working without is working blind effectively.

However, my "stab in the dark" would be to look into the EGR, idle control valve or (if it's drive-by-wire) the throttle housing. As said though, it's stabs in the dark without codes. The starting problem could equally be down to a CTS or other fault.

Cheers for the reply.
I changed the battery and its starting alright now... still lumpy for the first 5 or so seconds though.
the clicky noise is still there too.

Some cars cycle the EGR after switching off in an attempt to stop it seizing up. It could be that something has come adrift in yours or that it's just become noisy for some reason.
