The heater blower won't turn off. It runs permanently at the highest speed. The misbehavior began without event.
The control panel behaves as it should - even pressing 'off' causes the panel to go to sleep, and the little light beside the 'off' button still lights - yet the blower still runs!
The temperature control also works fine,for which I am very thankful, yet enough is enough with the sound!
Does someone have an idea of where to begin?

The resistor pack in the motor has failed. This is quite common. You need to remove the blower motor and then remove and replace the resistor board. You can now buy the whole board for about 7 quid on Ebay...
