glow plug change 307 sw 1.6 hdi 90

Post by no1pars »

hi all

just pulled the glow plugs out and they were a bit unwilling to come out due to carbon build up.

I have been looking into a glow plug reamer to remove the carbon build up before putting the new plugs in.

I cant seem to find anything suitable for this engine???
Has anyone used them on their hdi engine and can they recommend any

thanks in advance

If you eventually managed to remove the glow plugs without breaking them I think you will find that the new ones will screw in OK with the application of application of some copper grease to the threads. Try it with one of the old ones first, if you can screw that in and out a few times I would be surprised if that doesn't loosen them up.

ideally wanted to use a reaming tool to remove the carbon but measuring the glow plug end it is less than 4.5 mm thick so i presume the reamer would need to be at least 5mm thick.
I have no idea as to how big a reamer i would need but i would hazard a guess at 5mm.
I thought there would be a reamer for these engines with them being so popular....
