Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hi all you MOT experts. I need your advice please.
I have a 2001 806 HDi. I use the car mainly for camping trips (but also for everyday use). I'm on my own so only need one seat for me. So, if I take all the other seats out, and seat belts, will this be ok for the MOT?

Well had a good Christmas day but....

The inside of the screen was very misty, possibly due to the passengers window being left down a bit in the storm we had a few days ago, inside was rather damp. OK, if we are talking the heavy duty one piece forged steel arms, then Partner/Bingo ones are wrong (too short by 10mm each side). These arms can have bushes replaced, but not the balljoint.

If we are talking the pressed metal arms then you can use a Partner/Bingo arm with 306 balljoint fitted. Pressed metal arms are the same left to right, only...

Hello my 306 hdi for a while it's felt like it needed an engine mount. So been driving smoother when letting of the pedal and same when putting my foot down. I have the dreaded issue with injector number 1 with the needle lift sensor has packed up!
Really loud diesel knock, sometimes really lumpy/ smokey/ slow....

My question is, how do you change the injector ? I Cba with garages... I'm no mechanic, but not stupid!

I have a very low mileage 97 106 diesel which has had a heavy clutch, which judders and was very fearce in taking up drive. Eventually it got to the point where it had started to drag and was becoming undrivable.

Keys including blanks are officially unavailable, your best tack is possibly to have a blank billeted up. You might ask the 605 forum as it contains a few clued-in obsessives, but they're pretty strict on their French.

My wife’s Peugeot Partner 1.9d 2004 has driven me crazy since we’ve had it.
Lots of small faults. :?
The central locking on the rear side door wouldn’t operate. This turned out to be a loose plug/connection inside the door.

COM2000 unit, indicated three times then the headlights turned themselves on. Had this repaired by a guy in Bradford...

Usually this fault on a DW8 engine is a faulty advance electrovalve on the front of the injection pump but it usually happens with another symptom where the engine rattles like there is no oil in it but when you switch off the engine & back on again the noise is gone, is it doing this ?

Hi all,
I acquired this vehicle about 1 month ago and since the cold weather I have only just noticed the problem with the heaters.
The problems are:
1. The heaters only blow lukewarm air
2. The heater for the windscreen only doesn't blow out any air although the button lights up
3. They make a funny noise whilst running.

I have a 2001 2.0 hdi with 213,000 miles

The mpg is only 37 average. This is services every 6000 miles so the air and fuel filter is clean. It doesnt feel down on power and runs well.

Is there any reason it could be so low? Im not heavy footed, the brakes arent binding and tyre pressures fine.

Would a plannet peugeot diagnostic tell me anything...

I know you will say put the Lexia on it but mine won't work, its stopped talking to the computer. The car has very little go until you get to 1800-2000 rpm then takes off like a rocket. No lights on, tried cleaning the EGR to no effect. Any suggestions?

We have recently had our Engine ECU stolen from a 2002 Petrol 2.2 Puegeot 806, and there are currently 3 connectors loose (Grey Black and Red). My question is where can I buy from and if I buy 2nd hand (Ebay) what model do I need and does it need programming or canI just plug it in? Really at a loss to what the best and most affordable way to...

You have three options I can think of.

The first is to order a new ECU from a dealer; your VIN will determine exactly what the part number is. I have no idea of price new.

The next option is to find out what type of ECU it was (most likely one of either Sagem, Magnetti Marelli MM48 or Magnetti Marelli MM6LP) and have a used one permanently...

After changing the cam belt the check engine light lights up if I push the gas and put the engine on load around 2000 rpms. It doesn't come on if i accelerate from scratch, only after deaccelaration and then accelleration again.

I drained the fuel system, removed the starter and disconnected the battery during the belt exchange.

Any ideas?...

Malcolm is correct, one of the solenoid windings is in series with the motor. Fit a new pair of brushes if possible or check that they are not stuck or greasy.

Hello
I have just brought a 407 1.6 hdi, it has an oil leak from where the oil return flange connects to the bottom of the turbo, i pulled the turbo fitted an original gasket and its still leaking, pulled the turbo again the mating surfaces look good but had a lot of oil on the surfaces which indicates the gasket didn't do its job, fitted 2...

Morning all

Has anyone any experience of removing/replacing this unit on a 405, which apparently regulates the cooling fans on air con models.

I have a fan issue with one of my 405s, and want to remove this Bitron sensor from another identical car which is being scrapped.

Trouble is I'm getting different stories about where it lives, Haynes say...

Found them! They're actually round the back of the thermostat housing, and thus very difficult to see. Removing the battery and shield helps get to them.

My 306 hdi estate has a problem where the revs drop when braking but only in cold weather. The car has been fine all through the year since last winter. It only did it for the 1st time last night when the dial read 6degrees?

Hi guys,

I have a Peugeot 206 1.4 (miles roughly 60K on replacement engine), just wondering what temp these engines should run at and how long should they take to reach full running temp?

Mine seems to take a while, and only reaches about 75 after about 8 miles, it sometimes gets to 80 but takes forever, sometimes 20 miles!

The van's electrics are playing with me. Indicators, The right one works very intermittently,sometimes as it should, sometimes fast sometimes just front, or rear. In other words has a mind of it's own. Left indicator usually works properly. A few days ago all indicators stopped worked all together, Then today repaired themselves with no help....

My new Pug 306 Diesel HDi is perfect. It seems to tick over a bit faster than my previous car at about 1100. Does anyone know what the normal rate is and is it easy to turn down?

It should start around that when cold then drop down when warm. A faulty MAF could be the culprit (and won't show an engine warning light).

Planet should tell you more.

It's a 2.0 HDi peugeot 807 with a 5 speed manual box. Same as the Citroen C8, Fiat Ulysse and Lancia Phedra.

Lost 3rd gear yesterday. Changing down approaching a roundabout and it just wouldn't go in. All the other gears are fine. I presumed it was a cable problem so when I got home I disconnected the cables at the gearbox end and tried to select...

The way I looked at it was that it is essentially the same engine as in my Xsara, both being Hdi 110's (although the 807 is 16 valve) and they are both a similar age. The Xsara has had a solid flywheel from new, so I was confident getting one put in the 807. I do hope I'm not going to be proved wrong.

Edit: Just realised the 807/Xsara gearboxes...

I can't remember the steering nut size, something tells me its 16mm but I'm not certain sorry.

The speedo cable can be a right £$ £$ £ the factory used an elastic band if I remember correctly to fit it in place. Not really sure of a sensible tip to do it. :( I've never done one.

Just a mention of a little trick discovered by accident recently

Cleaning the brake nipples on a 106 (Bendix Discs & Drums) with a rotary drill mounted wire brush seemed to free them up.

Prior to doing so I know that at least one, if not two; were stubborn after the usual wire brushing, penetrating oil, etc; and getting them open without...

ok i have checked for voltage at green cable comming from f7 in the bsi unit and have no voltage at all so i have now come to the conclusion that its gota come out i have voltage at f7 so fuse feed is good but on looking as far as i can tell the diag socket has to be removed to get the bsi to come forward enough..... if this is the case how on...

Start unplugging the connectors at the front, every time you unplug a row of connectors it lets the BSI move forward a little bit more until it comes all the way out. You don't need to move the diagnostic socket at all. Same again when re fitting, plug the back row in & push it back in a bit at a time.

I've just lost the use of 4th gear on a 2008 407 2.0 HDi (136), it is the 6 speed box - well at least it was! The car has 145,000 miles. In the last week, 4th was very hard to select and 1st and 6th were a bit notchy. After replacing the cable assembly (gearstick to box) it was smoother going into all gears but wont go into 4th anymore, 1st and...

Got this in for repair after a few others have had a go at it. came in with the following

Non starter
No wipers
No stereo
No central locking
No comunication with diagnostic scanner

Any way sorted the wipers stereo c/locking out and got scanner to talk to ecu it was just fuses so says a lot about whos been looking at it. Still got the non start...

Two things.....

1.... if your front footwell becomes wet, check the plastic stoppers, about an inch diameter; underneath the car, just behind the wheelarches, I've twice found these to be broken and to be the cause of wet front carpets (on 106 and 405).

Morning all, could anyone point me in the right direction with this one?

The STOP light and water temperature light come on at random times in my 1995 405 2.0 petrol, usually for a few seconds and then flicker off again. The actual gauge shows a perfect temperature which is stable and the car certainly doesn't overheat. Water level is OK.
