Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hi Everyone

I wonder if anyone can help with this.

I’ve got a 306 2.0 HDi (love it, best car ever). I lost the bolts (the ones that screw into the roof rails) that hold the roof rack on and don’t know where to get replacement. Anyone got any ideas where I could get replacements?

I had my car on a diagnostic laptop the other day and apparently injector number 3 is always open and needs replacing on my 306 1.6HDI. I went to try get it out last night, moved the wiring back so I could access the hex nuts, got the nuts off the studs that hold the injector on, removed the electrical clip and the fuel input nipple on top of the...

So it seems that one of my injectors has failed, I had a diagnostic laptop on it that came from a dealers, 3 of the injectors had almost identical values on-screen but the injector I would call number 2 (second from the left) had a much different value. It wasn't coming up with an error code as apparently its a mechanical error not an electric...

Hi all, I have a 2003 Peugeot 406 s 1.9d I have changed what I belived to be a faulty actuator with a working actuator. In fact, both actuators still work...but both actuators only move to the lock position. When I press the fob to unlock the car doors unlock but not the tailgate. What could be causing this?

I've damaged the brake hub on my 207 whilst pressing in a new bearing. Peugeot want £105 for a new one (!) so I'm hoping to find one from a scrappie. I'm also wondering what else this part was fitted to - suspect Citroen C3, but what else?

The Peugeot part code is 424750. Can someone help by cross referencing via autodata or similar?

Ok it seems I have the usual EGR valve issue with my 05 plate 307 1.6 hdi. I have seen these blanking plates that are offered and have a couple of questions.

1) will it make the engine emission light go off on the dash if I use a blanking plate
2) will there be any power loss by using a blanking plate
3) will I need to disconnect the wiring...

1. It depends on engine. Some owners have needed to delete the EGR from the ECU, so combined it with a remap and / or remap and DPF removal.

I've fitted two plates on the 1.6 110bhp engine in a 57 plate 307 and a 54 plate 407 and not disconnected any electrical plugs.

My current car is a 2L 90bhp 307 and the EGR valve it...

i have problem with my Peugeot 508 after 3000 km I found a lot of powder come from brake pads at the wheel and every time I clean my wheel I found this powder what is the reason and is it a problem or not

it is quite normal for brake dust to build up on wheel rims either steel or alloys,
it is more noticeable on alloys though,

this may occur more depending on the brand of pads you have fitted, i would suspect a cheaper brand to cause this more often

Basically the speedo on my 306 XSi only works when it feels like it. I had thought it may be the speed sensor, but when I was sitting in traffic the other day, the needle began to hover at around 10mph even though the car was not moving. I'm now more prone to think it might be a faulty speedo, but would like a bit of advice before I start guessing...

Any more ideas? Would the sensor itself work intermittently, and give false signals at standstill? Do I need to be tracing wires looking for frayed bits shorting to earth? Should I just leave it and put up with it? AAAARRRRGHH!

Hi guys, my 406 hdi has developed an intermittent lumpy idle, sometimes very lump lasting a couple of seconds,its kind of hunting noticeable both hot and cold.
ive put a can of very expensive diesel egr cleaner through no real difference, Also have some injector cleaner in the tank.

with the foot flat it powers away smoothly no problems

Whilst working away from home my wife told me that just lately my XUD engined Partner had been losing power and would cut out. On my return I found out that it wouldn't idle. Suspecting that the car had been run low on fuel, I changed the fuel filter & put some injector cleaner in the tank but it was no better. I managed to get the engine to idle...

I've just had an idea - I work on aircraft and when we've had leaks in the pitot-static system (air getting out) we use a fluid around unions which show bubbles escaping. If I sprayed something like WD40 around the fuel pipes, would this work in reverse by showing an change in idling?

Hi, 2004 hdi partner is very slow to start first thing in the morning as the weather gets colder,had the battery checked and it,s ok ,once started, it will start every time ,I put a jump battery on it this morning and it started first time ,is there a problem ,with starters, earths ,battery drain?,,thank you for any replies

although if its the same size bush as on the likes of BX's and Xantias then GSF sell just the bush i think for around £8 or there abouts

Hello to all.

We have done a major transplant between 2 Peugeot 206s.

Donor car is 2003 Peugeot 206 1.4 hdi, with aircon.

Receiving car is 2002 Peugeot 206 1.4 hdi , with sunroof, no aircon .

We changed everything - engine gearbox , bsi , ecu front struts - almost everything except the cars own wiring loom. We also have not moved the aircon...

All problems now fixed and a very calm dashboard.

We changed all the wiring looms from the 2003 car to the 2002 car and changed and rebuilt the rear axle too.

We also moved over the ABS block and all the brake pipes (as they were different)

ABS light stayed on for about 1km but is now functioning properly.

Approximately I viewed thw whole forum but unfortunately could not find a solution for my problem, the problem is with the unstable condition of the car when the accelarating pedal is released, as soon as I stop pushing the pedal and take my foot off the car losses it's control and kicks like an animal , this condition is doubled...

Difficult to say, but if things are worse with the AC on, then I would look to see if one of the pulleys, or the alternator or PAS pump are partially seized, causing a sudden retardation in engine speed. Unless something is causing the engine to try and stall?

One thing that's really bugging me is the road noise. I started to notice it a few weeks ago and figured it was probably the cheapo tyres which were pretty worn out anyway, so I had them replaced with Michelin...

Dammit, why is the 305 so troublesome. This is starting to get annoying.

my friend has as in title

since he has owned this car at random periods the rad fan will run for quite some time, even in the engine is not up to temperature,

then it might not do this for months,

i fitted a cam belt kit and water pump about two weeks ago,
on running it up to temperature i said to my friend in my experience and others on here,...

heya , my friends car has a problem - the fan isn't coming on!

its a 56 reg pug 206 , 1.4 petrol. she says the thermo sensor has been changed. any idea`s?

Hi all,

I hope you can help on the above 02 model.

I parked the car up one night in the week went to sleep in the back woke ( camping with kids) up in the morning and when hitched up the trailer it went into limp mode.

Hi guys,

I've got the 406 hdi 110 as a few of you may know. Recently the car has been doing this strange this where it seems the car cuts out for a split second and then its fine again, while driving you can feel a real jerk when this happens.
also yesterday the engine just stopped when i went to change from 1st to reverse, i still had the clutch...

They're not really known for giving trouble - it's on top of the gearbox, bit difficult to access AFAIK as it's buried under a load of wiring.

Dear Guys,

my father's 406 HDi 109 BHP, Mk2 prints a message Coolant too hot and beeps, although the engine temperature is fine, e.g. immediately after cranking up a cold engine. The coolant thermometer stays always below 90 degrees. The thermometer gives believable readings, so the coolant too hot message is somewhat ill.

hi me again car running great but seem to be getting hassle with my radio/cd player.
it has the multiplayer disc & single cd head player in,but its all working manually,& thru the joystick.
but no sound & it just works now & then had the head unit out & cd player out & checked the wiring but carnt see anything wrong

just bought an old 52 plate 406 hdi estate,quite a nice car...prob need a new indicator stalk as the one on it quite loose (turns straight to turning left,after turning right) anyway, the problem is the auto lights function.... When I refitted the cable on the gearbox last time it has started to act up.
Now the clutch is biting extremely high & it slips in every gear ! : :cry:

Hi I'm new to this any help would be most welcome I've have got a 2004 boxer the cam belt snapped so I changed the broken rockers and put a new water pump on and timing belt kit. The engine turns over by hand fine. But when I went to start it there was nothing and the engine light is on. I've checked the starter motor and that is fine.

I checked the starter motor off the van so I could rule that out. I have just checked the earth lead from the gear box touched it and it come off so hopefully will be that thank you for the help will keep you updated

I have just bought a Peugeot 206 1.4 hdi 54 With 88000 miles. It passed its MOT yesterday but when I put my cheap code reader on it showed P1351 as a logged fault and then again as a pending fault? Is this something to do with the glow plugs? Any help would be appreciated. Lee.

Hello to all.

On our 206 , 1.4hdi , when we finally got into to Engine Ecu, we selected diesel - then it asks which injection system - and it give a list of about 10 - for example 8HZ BOSCH EDC16C3 Euro 4

Servicebox with our VIN input does not give enough detail.

Can anyone tell us how to discover exactly which one we have ?

Well its all a bit of a mystery, I will give a list of symptoms and let me know what yall think...

I suspect that this problem has been discussed before.However I can't seen to find a definitive answer.I have 1997 406 2.1 executive with duff speedo - not working.
Suspected sensor and remove for inspection/test. Getting some output which looks like it could be waveform?Can't find interface box so could prob be with speedo head?

Just fitted a replacement engine, it ran properly for around 30 seconds and the started blowing large amounts of white smoke.
I have done a compression test with a cold engine, can't let it warm up as the neighbours will complain!
I had readings of 500, 520, 475 and 450 psi, which is in OK if you believe the Haynes book.
I suspect the lump is OK,...

Finally resolved it by changing the glowplugs. We ignored that advice many times, thinking it had to be something more serious, but it was that simple.

Hello to all.

We have swapped a 1.4hdi engine from a 2003 Peugeot 206 back into a 2002 Peugeot 206.

We have also carried across the engine wiring loom because the 2002 wiring is questionable.

The 2002 car had a sensor on the gearbox for the speedo, the 2003 engine does not have this,

How did the 2003 car feed its info to the speedo ?

The 4 doors on my car have always had a good click clonk when you pull the door handles inside. But now the drivers side it made a loud bang click then the handle inside change. You now pull the handle all the way and the click just about opens the door?

The outside door handle just like normal like the others just the inside one.
