Unread post by froggy »

Hi, my wifes 306, she is having trouble getting it into gear, when she puts her foot on the clutch there is a click coming from a nylon , plastic fitting attached to the cable. any thoughts ? cheers Terry.

There is a self adjustment mechanism built into the cable. Normally those old Peugeot clutches get very stiff with age that puts strain on the cable.
What is the age and mileage of the clutch and what engine does it have.

Is it the cable? Xantias have a sacrificial clip that holds the cable to the clutch pedal, designed to break before anything else does.
Usually a sign that the clutch is shot so it isn't particularly good news. Nightmare to replace too, allegedly.

At 122K I think you have had your money`s worth from that clutch. New clutch and cable and I bet the clutch pedal will feel like silk. I would recommend a Peugeot genuine cable, I`ve had problems with some after market ones. Most factors can supply the O/E clutch kits like Valeo or Luke.
