Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hi, Iam hoping to replace the head gasket on my S2 Xantia this weekend.....well make a start :) just heard a comment by someone........ careful undoing the head bolts , because it is easy to snap them :( .....and then scrap it !! :( is there any truth in this.....A very nervous Froggy :shock:

Hi,
I've posted two posts and both show on the board with a grey arrow and a grey circle on the envelope, all other posts seem to have a red arrow and no circle. Have I done something wrong when posting? Does the grey arrow and circle mean something? I sent a message to the forum admin last week but have had no reply.

Hi

I have a Xantia 2.0 make year 2000 with auto gear box AL4. I notice that there is ATF leak where the gear box is attached to the engine. I guess there is an oil seal at the converter. I browsed the Citroen service for the part number but could not find it. Any one knows if there is an oil seal and its part number. Any idea for the leaking ?...

This is my first post - so please be gentle!

I own an 06 plate, C5 Exclusive and I'm having some trouble with it's headlight washer jets.

My car failed it's MOT because these were described on the failure notice as 'obviously defective' - because after squirting, they didn't retract fully into the bumper.

If they dont work they wouldn't know they were there are many many cars have blanking plates for them these days but dont fit them.

If you push them down and disconnect the plug on the washer pump for them they wont pop up.

If yours are leaking water the spring down wont occur as it relies on them being at full height to easily retract. In...

I got new wipers but I can't for the life of me figurr out how to remove the old ones. They are the flat type and seem bolted on. How do I get them off?

Also related. I used Halfords website to identify Bosch Aerotwin A310S as the correct type and then bought them from wipersdirect. Thing is it says Mondeo on the back?

I need to fit a new T.R.E. to my 2004 Picasso. Other than the problem of separating the taper on the old one, is there any other difficulty? I intend measuring as carefully as possible the current geometry, so I can set the new end to be just the same.

Hi All,

Fitted new pipes to the old Xantia plumbing and no leaks from them but the rear o/s cylinder is leaking from seal location it is the usual problem excessive wear to the cylinder its self.
There are 2 problem areas and will use the Dowty seal method employed by Chris (c.morewood) previously posted.

Morning folks

My 1.9 TD Xant has just started a faint droning that is related to road speed. I pushed in the clutch and noise remained, pressed on brakes and remained.

Threw her is some weaving and noise stayed the same ie didn't worsen under weight of cornering.

It only starts after driving a few miles, ie not when cold. Its not intrusive but...

Check the rear tyres for any unusual wear pattern (especially the inside edge) usually described as cupping. If so it is probably a sign that the rear arm bearing are ready for replacement.

May fans not working the middle relay corroded I had the car running in idle we got upto 95 degree on non of them kicked in we managed to get the corroded bit out of the Conneter
Do all 3 relays need to ve working for the fan to kick in?

i had a qote from main citroen dealer 150 pounds for the fan motors 50 pounds for the fans 5 to 10 pounds for nuts and bolts I then asked could i just put the fan motors on the old fans he said i dont know lol thanks bye lol

Morning All,

Just off out in the van this morning to be met with a clunk, and the rear suspension dropping.

I'm guessing it's torsion bar related - I've had a look, but both seem to be intact. Is it likely that one of them has twisted and skipped a spline or two, or is there something else to check.

Hi all :)

Just getting my Xantia ready for its MOT after a couple of years SORN. It will be up for sale soon.

The ABS light was illuminated - and turns out I had an open circuit front right sensor which I just replaced.

However the light is still illuminated. I just measured the resistances at the connector as follows:

Hi Guy's my first post. I took my car to this guy with a Lex... system to have my drl's enabled but the system pointed out this was not so on my model. 2009 c5 x7. It looks as if I shall have to hard wire them myself.

My 2010 C5 didn't have the DRL option in the instrument panel menu either. Followed these instructions in Diagbox to enable them and they now show up in the menu and work a treat.

There's a catch, I can't communicate with the BSI.

There's another catch - I don't want to spend forever on the car.

On the tachymetric relay, one coil pulls in just fine - but the other, which is grounded by internal switching of the ECU - isn't getting its required ground.

I've worried at times about capacitative loops but that's probably irrelevant on a fairly rugged piece of kit.

I don't even know what that means but I have ran direct earths to injection ecu's with no problems, it can save ECUs when jump leads have been connected the wrong way around or when a live has been shorted on the ECU casing, usually...

also when you have a version c you can find the updates for version 7 of diagbox and go up to 7.44 ( that's the latest I can find) if you need to do newer cars, its well worth the beer tokens

really easy to do basically the same as updating the firmware using scarymistakes interface checker, about 5-10 mins and its done, `

Hi,

I've just had my C5 Estate MOT'd this morning an it has failed with - Excessive play in the top steering column bearing. :cry:
There were a couple of advisories but nothing major.
Has anyone here had any experience of this item, is it a nylon bush?

Well it hasn't been removed in my ownership. I remember there was some play when I 1st purchased the car, although it was very similar to that of a previous Xantia and I never realy thouht it was an issue. #-o

Filled up with Shell Vpowr Nit + 67 litres @ £140.9ppl 25/04/14, now on empty (unsure whether to fill up with Vpowr again or go back to Texaco diesel supreme @ £136.9 I think or standard fuelsave diesel.

I notice the Xantia likes temperatures above 10C.. much better starting, fuel consumption and suspension.
I seem to have a hesitation on starting, more like a burp, below 8 or 9C which has disappeared in the last couple of weeks ( above 10C) The fuel consumption is also heading the right way.. its been 55 over the winter .. last fill nearly 57 .....

Need to change a fuse on my Xantia, the fusebox is located beneath steeriing coloumn and has a red lever.
I have tried pulling on the red lever but nothing gets released. Can anyone confirm the red lever
should open the fusebox ? I don't want to force it.

Hi All,

I'm hoping some kind soul can help me.

I have a 58 plate Xsara Picasso, 1.6 diesel.
Just recently it's been having problems with the air con, so it's had a new condenser fitted and a re-gas.

If the car is stationary on the drive and you switch on the air con, the compressor clutch clicks in, and the radiator cooling fan kicks in too....

Ok, here's an update.
I took it back to the garage. They got their charts out and they state that the amount of gas for a Xsara Picasso is 700g, which is what they'd put it.
The pressures looked ok.
In order to rule out the pressure problem, he's reduced the gas so that the system now has 450g in it, and we were going to so how that went and if it...

That fault will be a broken wire behind or feed to the fuse box!! One if the feeds has broke in typical french cable.

had this one an s2 .. no heated rear screen. One of the main feeds from the large fuses in the engine bay had lost connection. A quick connection had It sorted..

In an effort of looking at increased braking performance im wondering if normal Brake Fluid Compliant brake seals would last against LHM, or if they need to be specially rated?

Just trying to see if fitting other calipers would be an option, IE twin pot or 4 pots up front... Downside would be it would need parking in gear all the time! lol

Well the xm route is no good.

The 2.5 and v6 have the biggest front setup and they use a single pot caliper as well :(

Maybe what I think of doesn't exist in lhm land ;(

I'm beginning to look for Strut tops, mostly just the NS one for now, left a message on the top sticky thread but I don't know if folks always notice the sticky updates.

It seems as if it is possible to buy genuine strut tops from Citroen along with new cylindar protectors, £150 plus vat (£180 each side)!
I bet my car is only woth that much!...

....... to offer cruise on the last two years of Xantia hdi production..

after Bosch incorporated cruise into the ecu for what ever reason and Citroen did not bother to offer it on hdis. The option would of been a nice attraction on exclusive's at least and made a nice equipment package..

The same bits were available on the 2.5 XM from its start of production! a good few years before the HDi came along.

Try having the speed set at 60-70 Paul and engage resume at about 30-40.... its pretty dam sharp thats for sure as my bosch 2.5 seems to be able to build boost quicker when using cruise to build backup than the...

hi all I don't know if anyone could help I have a c8 that has a snapped cam belt that I cannot start the problem is it is in economy mode and the windows are down
does any one know which relay drops out when it enters economy mode as I thought that If I bridged this relay I could at least get the windows back up

Have you tried disconnecting the battery, this will sometimes allow you to power them up again (when reconnected)
If not, I took the door panel off a C8 the other day & just powered the motor up with a battery.

Its the first time its opened since ive owned the car as I havent got round to fixing the opening switch for it yet. Hi all, I've been driven about by my girlfriend in her 18 month old C3 over the last few days and we've found it to be pulling profoundly to the left.

Hi everyone, hopefully somebody can help point me in the right direction........

I'm currently replacing the diesel particulate filter on my C8, at the rear of the DPF is a small metal pipe which connects to the pressure sensor the official part number from Citroen/Peugoet is 1714J8(particular filter pressure pipe) . Endlessly for about 4 days...

Hi

After my recent service at Yeomans Citroen Fareham the car lost power a couple of times for a brief moment, hunted for a while and then went back to normal once it had warmed up. A short while later (days) the dreaded 'ping', actually it's more of a 'bong' noise came through the interior speakers and the dash displayed this Depollution system...

Hi guys, I recently changed the trailing arm bearings on my C5. I did passenger side first and plan on doing the drivers side this month when it finally decides to stop raining:-) I think I may have overtightened the main 24mm bolt that the trailing arm pivots on because I occasionally get what can only be described as a 'crack' similar to a rifle...

I had to cut the HP pipe (the one out of the large nut closest to belt) because it twisted upon removal for pump replacement. The pipe union was fused into the large nut, somehow.

So I lost about 3 of pipe and the union. I have a spare large nut with replacement pump.

What's the quick and economical way to replace this HP pipe going to the...

Got only propane and torch with me, no braze, no oxygen, no bits of sleeve and pipe for tail. :-( By the time I walk the many miles here in N Wales, to round up bits, I might as well pay the £38 required for a s/h one I just confirmed as matching part no. Which is what I did. Should be here by Wednesday. :-)

Sorry for the abrupt question, but if one had to drive a 1.9td ZX back to oxford from weston super mare, with a failed alternator and dead battery, how would you recommend removing the stop solenoid?

I've asked on another forum, and they say remove the solenoid, jump her up and just dont stall/run out of petrol....

I fitted a pair of mega bright LED arrays in the reverse light position, but this seems to have upset the parking sensors which now work at random and sometime beep when moving forward. Guess I will have to try adding a ballast resistor as is required with LED indicator lamps.

It sounds like there is just too much juice going thru to the earth and feeding back into the sensors.

i think the ones that are needed are SMB or ones suitable for CANBUS vehicles as these have the required bits in them to avoid issues like this.
