C5 suspension problem ...again

Post by alex666 »

Hello guys. My stoped working few days back. I checked and motor was not running at all. Just want to confirm I checked all right:

-motor have 12 V on main connector, ground is o.k.
-when apply 12V on control pin motor should run but it does not.
-control wire from a control unit is always low regardless whatever I do (but true car is complettly down and can also be that I need to reset it via tool to get it work beack)

My conclusions is both needs to be checked.

So I started with a motor. I took it appart and there was some amount residue from brushes. I clean it up and a specialist took care about the rotor. It's still won't run under 12V supply and control signal so I guess transistors are faulty. I can easy change them (as thats what I do professionaly :) I searched over the forum but could not found scheme of that transistor board. So if anyone have it or can just post transistor codes I would be glad (save time for cleaning color on them :):))

Next is conrol unit. anyone try to repair it in the past? any suggestions would be appricieted :)

Hello Kenny. Everything stopped .. motor don't run, even with 12V and control signal 12V. Control unit keeps output low, power rele works o.k.j

Quick question, have you checked the Maxi Fuse in the lower fuse box ?

Yes fuse is ok. 12V power on motor but no run when I add 12V on control pin. Also no 12V from control unit. I beleive faulty transistors are reasons. Will work on that tomorrow to confirm or not.

follow up:

today I checked up the transistor drivers. I clean them up. They use two pcs of IPS0551T power mosfet in parallel. I found out those to work o.k. So why they do not work in car??

Instead in car I test motor outside directly connected to accu. And it worked like a charm. Real question is why do not work with a power cupplied over connector? IPS0551T have a control logic that do not turn Fets on if voltage is to high or to low, or current is to high or temperature is to high. The only thing that could prevent working could only be voltage to low. I measured it on motor power connector and it was 11,5V while on accu is 12,6V. Seems the logic consider that to be to low and I need to find where I lose more than a volt. I meausred also on power relay and it is to low already there. Will check back on cables tomorrow and report results..

Final repirt. SOLVED :)

I dig into installation today. Problem for voltage drop was the fuse contact. Seems like motor drawn higher current but not enought to burn fuse. But it did burn a contact a little just enught to prevent good current flow. I clean up everything, reset errors in BSI, apply some over preassure to LDS reservoar and .. all worked..
