Dispatch 'anti pollution fault'

Unread post by 12boreblue »

Hi Guys

I am at my wits end over this. Broke down the other week with diesel leaking from the rear of the engine, towed to garage, fracture in fuel rail.
Had this renewed, a week later drove it home. went to work next day, anti pollution fault warning came up. Took it back to garage, identified leaking seals on 2 injectors. These were replaced. Still the issue of the anti pollution fault, and now the van goes into 'survival mode.'

Garage said that the EGR valve is now showing faults, stuck open, stuck closed, etc. Could this be a cleaning issue? If so can I do it and where is the valve?
would be most grateful for any assistance as running out of money. Cost of repair is in the £400's Could this fault be related to the fractured fuel rail?

Thank you

Some more information may help those who know this car.

What year car? Which engine more precisely? How many miles?

It stands a very good chance the garage are right and the EGR valve is duff.

Also do a search on 1.6hdi turbo problems because the leaking injectors can cause this problem so you need to do an oil change or flush and change if the injector seals have been leaking.

Hi Bick

It has just been serviced, so am hoping it is just the EGR valve!

This can also be down to fuel supply.
Has it had a recent fuel filter change??
Also when was the last time it had an Italian tune up.

It has never had an Italian service to my knowledge, I presume the service included a new fuel filter! will check.

An Italian service is, simply put, taking the car out on the motorway for a nice long blast to help clear out the pipes. I did it on my C5 the morning of her MoT, and they only needed to run the emissions test once (I was looking at the speed limit from a bit on the high side).

Welcome!

You need to get it on Diagbox to see what is going on. List of members with the kit here: https://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/ ... 19&t=29178

Having said that, this engine is fussy about the fuel filter, so if there is no record of if being changed, then stick a new one in and see what happens. it might be enough to fix it.

Thanks for the reply.
I can't get the link to work- says I don't have access to the board yet- maybe because I'm a new member.
Will do some googling into this diagbox and see if my loca garage has one cheers.

I noticed that the post that Richard linked to is in the deleted threads section now - probably changed at the time when we updated all the AUP and the Diagnostic advice.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

Most helpful chaps!
The van is in the local garage at the moment, if they have no luck I will contact the nearest person.

Thanks again.
