Does anyone have any good info on how to remove starter motor from my C5 with 2.7hdi engine?
It seems that fuel filter might be one to remove and electric housing along with ECU and all air inducts...

Official way is indeed to remove the fuel filter. But I've seen pictures on this procedure on a C6 with the same engine where the fuse box was removed instead. 1 bolt to remove without being able to see what you are doing, but otherwise seems to be a practical way of doing it....no diesel smelly hands

Yes, fuel filter, engine cooling pipes and electrical harness. I have the procedure for the 2.7 X7 and have emailed this to you now as there was only one for this model.Finguy wrote:Does anyone have any good info on how to remove starter motor from my C5 with 2.7hdi engine?

. . . & I thought it was pain having to remove the aircleaner & disconnect what I assume is the MAF sensor on the C15.
Against that you don't have to work at arm's length - or from underneath, as you would on a conventional vehicle (a little contrition after my recent little rant/sulk about working on FWD vehicles generally).

Old starter removed. No need to remove fuel filter as it really doesn't even help any if removed.
Pretty easy task overall but have to take a note how the wiring for ECU etc are connected...
Nice that you can do this without lifting car or crawling under...
