GC4Picasso - headlight bulbs

Unread post by Old-Guy »

Sorry chaps (Richard)
Another question: the (much-maligned) Handbook shows how to change the various bulbs (pretty obvious), once the headlight unit has apparently been removed.
Please can anyone tell me either how to remove the headlights or, if they don't need to be removed, get at the back of the headlights?

In my old Xantia (no ECU box inside O/S wing) the O/S wasn't too bad, but the N/S is virtually impossible unless you remove either the battery or the headlight with its inevitably corroded screws (best left alone).

Hi. I have a 2007 C4GP. i changed the bulbs on that with the headlights still in place. A little bit tight on passenger side but still doable. The bulb hold rotates 90° to release. Hope this helps

On ours os is easier if you unclip the screen wash filler then lift the clip out - don't forget to refit it though.....or you have to cable tie it back on! Ns needs the removal of the air intake pipe - 10mm bolt into the wing under the pipe

Thank you gents. I don't need to do the job at the moment, but having worked out what extra I need to make up a comprehensive bulb kit, now is the time to find out how to change the headlight bulbs, NOT in the dark and rain 50 miles from home!
I'll have a look under the bonnet (our GC4P is bound to be different to yours) later and see if I need to add any tools to those already in the car.

I'd also recommend some latex gloves - I've just got back out from under mine after doing the DRLs and the gloves were shredded!
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

Personally, I prefer Nitrile gloves (Polyco Bodyguards GL890 medical examination gloves); I'm still working my way through a box bought (£6.50) about 18 months ago from a local motor factor (APD). Better than most, disposable gloves; some I've used just tear as soon as I grip hard and snag far too easily. I keep a few in the car for those occasions when there are no gloves/bags for keeping hands clean when filling with diesel.

I've had a look under the bonnet. The N/S might be a bit tight (the under-bonnet fuse-box is a bit close) but being the 2011-on 8V 1.6HDi (DV6C) the air pipes are different to the previous 16V 1.6HDi (DV6TED4) and don't appear to be in the way. On the O/S, as Richard says, the washer bottle filler-neck is in the way, but as it's corrugated plastic, it's flexible and easily moved out of the way though a bit of string/wire to tie it back would probably save some swearing.
