Post by johntom »

Hi
How high should the lds fluid be in the resovoir on a 2005 facelift C5 hdi, is it the seam around the plastic tank or higher?
Thanks

You should only top up LDS when the system has been depressurised, for which you will need a Lexia, the level is then at the bottom of the basket.

Hi
I have lexia, if I depressurise, do I need to repressurise the system after adding fluid? If so is that done on lexia?

No, repressurisation will take place as the fluid gets pumped around the system.

This is what I was told and it worked for me :)

There is a proceedure to follow when checking the LDS level:-

Lower car suspension to Minimum and switch off engine.
Open bonnet and remove black plastic cover over LHS to expose reservoir cap.
There is an oblong window embossed into the front sloping side of the plastic top half of the reservoir which you are to use as a level indicator.
Use only Citroen LDS fluid, (about £12 per litre).
Remove reservoir cap, this may be quite tight.
If your car is Hydractive 3, the level required is to the top of
the window.
If Hydractive 3+ (you have 3rd sphere mid point at each axel), the level is half way up the window.
Replace the cap loosely but do not tighten yet.
Start engine and raise car suspension to Normal operating level.
Now tighten cap.

@KentC5, thanks for the instructions, the essential 'Replace the cap loosely but do not tighten yet', was frustratingly absent from other guides. Worked a treat, cheers!
