Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I am new here so sorry if this info is on here and I missed it , just bought a lovely Xantia but it has 17 alloy wheels and 205/40 profile tyres which came from a Peugeot I am told .

I don't like such a thin amount of rubber as this and wondered what other Citroen or Peugeot cars have wheels with the correct ET or offset for a Xantia...

most the psa cars of the same era have the same offsett, 15-22 is the general range, the newer models have a higher offsett 25-30,
if you can get a set of steels or alloys from a Xsara/405/6/some 206/306's had 15's/saxo etc they will bolt straight on, some of the C3/4/5 wheels will fit but may sit a little inboard as they were closer to ET25,...

Hi

My Xantia want start, checked the fuel pump and notice that there is no fuel flow. I checked the terminals of the fuel pump connector while the car switch is on and can not read 12v on any of the terminals. My question is when the switch is on one of the terminals should be a constant 12v ?

Thanks Jim. Just to emphasize when it first happened ( April 2016 ) hitting the pump with a wrench sort it up till now. It happened again two weeks ago and the only temporary cure was to feed the pump with external power source in reverse polarity i.e. the source + to the pump's - and the source - to the pump's +, causing the motor to spin...

Hi Guys.
I recently bought a 2.2hdi with a blown turbo.
I stripped the air and exhaust pipes out and cleaned, changed the filter. flushed the oil and changed it, new air filter and vaccummed out eveywhere I could.
Fitted a replacement cartridge and started the engine.
Starts first time every time and sounds good, But !!!!!!!

My 2.0i 1990 XM runs 99% of the time very well but randomly the engine goes lazy. Sounds like she runs only on 3/4 cylinders. On idle, she goes off. Revs stay under 1300. Torque goes weak.

The car had been sleeping for 2 years, then I bought it and used it for 6 months, and in the last month, it started doing this thing. The car then was not used...

Hi, It's hard to be sure without seeing it in person but one thing that can occur if the Lambda sensor is faulted is that the fuelling can be too rich (or weak) and it's possible that this caused something simple to happen such as spark plugs getting too much carbon build up. It's worth popping out the plugs and checking the gap and cleaning them...

Hi guys,

I'm sorting out a Xantia '98 1.9td Estate and as I'm not familiar with the ride hopng you can tell me if the spheres are getting old or not.

Suspension goes all the way up/down now I have serviced the front/rear height correctors. It does so pretty smoothly and fairly quickly (well within a minute).

On normal height it rides and drives...

Can anyone advise me how I might replace a heater water hose? I haven't removed my old one yet as I need the car on the road, and cannot accurately measure it or draw it. In fact I can't see the end where it attaches near the wing on some sort of union - only feel it.

My present hose has a drip where it attaches to the engine water intake...

Thanks Richard. I managed to improve things with the heater hose, trimmed a 1/4 of tired rubber off the end and fitted a jubilee clip which did the trick - plus the insurance of a smear of plumbers mate (not so nice for disassembly and re-assembly, I know).

However I still have a leak in the vicinity of the intake housing, either the short...

My 1995 TD has developed a 'jerking' when I decelerate and wont just 'coast' along in any gear when i take my foot off the gas. I have to drop it down a gear and then accelerate back up through the gears. This is becoming a painful daily drive as I do a round trip of 16 miles taking SWMBO back and forth. Any ideas?? If it's of any help. I had a similar problem on a 806. Even when being towed on an a frame, no one in the 806, enine off and the ignition at position 1, the brakes locked on solid, to such an extent that the tow vehicle was struggling to pull it.

That's why I said you need to go back to Yatour so you can ask them for the right cable for the new C5! I don't know what help you expect, as you haven't posted your car model or the Head Unit that it has. There are plenty of place that sell interconnects for Head units, so I suggest you contact one of them.

Yeh that's what we found when we hooked up the Lexia. The results suggested everything was good, all sensors correct and working. But not so 2 hours later. The first crucial suggestion was, having the Lexia connected when the fault showed, which makes perfect technical sense but perhaps a little awkward in reality (my Lexia-owner had gone by now)....

I have noticed a coolant leak from my Xantia this week! Keeping it topped up sorts it out, but at about 1.5l a day, gets boring fast...

I had a look underneath it after driving 18 miles to work, and it was all pretty damp

presumably because whatever is leaking gets thrown around whilst driving. When it was stopped, water was dripping off...

Been looking for a new car and the C5 took my eye however the wife was has a habit of buying cars that have an AUX socket to plug the iPad into to use spotify.

I noticed on an older C5 VTR+ the radio had the option on the source button for AUX2 which looked like a phono headphone socket on the display but we couldn't find the headphone...

The X7 is just Citroen's internal model code name for this particular C5 model. We often use it to distinguish between the Mark I and Mark II or 'Facelift' model. The C5 X7 is also called the Mark III and generally refers to models from 2008 on although they started production late 2007.

Hi,
This has probably been covered before many times in the past
But I seem unable to find a decent solution to it.
Both my Mk2 and my fathers mk1 do this.
When the engine is hot after a long run the engines want to rev up above 1000 rpm
for some reason, we have tried pulling the throttle cable back by placing our feet under the pedal

HI All

Well I sussed what was wrong with my initial input shaft seal replacement- i overlooked the release-bearing guide sleeve O-ring seal. It was mentioned in Haynes, but I assumed it would be something loose and as I couldnt find it assumed it wasnt there- somehow overlooking the squashed rubber seal on the guide sleeve itself.

Mmm well in my case it seems to have been the problem. I was checking how I'd put the garter seal in the old sleeve because I'd had my doubts, but it's position was identical to the pre-inserted seal in the new sleeve. All very mysterious ☺

It's the plastic at the bottom of the door !! The price of the plastic clip (from the same supplier) varies from about £3.50 to £9 - guess their clever software works that out depending on demand. Liverpool or Heathrow!

Oil every bit of the mechanism you can see (and everything you can't see too) and see if it improves.
I oiled the whole lot on my '94 and it sped it up and quietened it down a bit, mine had a nasty squeak rather than being sticky.

I have a 2006 auto C8 SX HDI 16v with what is looking like terminal gearbox problems. A while back it started going into default fairly often. Pressure regulator valves/electro-valves were diagnosed and these were replaced very recently along with part of the loom that was found to damaged. Having done the work and filled with transmission fluid...

Hello,does anyone know how difficult it is to replace front trailing arm rear bush on C5 2010.I have replaced anti roll bar link rods as there was a knocking noise coming from the front end when braking in slow traffic or when on uneven road,when you look at front wheel whilst someone else is braking you can see the wheel jerking and a knocking...

Just to let you know,had the car in at the local garage this morning as was unable to locate which joint it was and after looking at it on a ramp it turned out to be the lower swinging arm rear bush that had completely collapsed.This allowing the swing arm to knock when braking and driving down bumpy roads,hope this is of some help to others.

I was wondering whether to service the xantia this year as I only clock under 3000 a year, all the filters I use are Mann and the oil is Total quartz 5/40.
Would I be okay to service it every 2 years or every 6000 miles.

Now my car uses fully synthetic oil I change it once a year, my mileage is not enormous but there are a lot of short trips involved, I have seen two decent cars scrapped or sold on for peanuts this year due to damage caused by neglected oil servicing.

Hi Folks,

Im wondering if you can help me.
I'm trying to source rear wheel Discs, Calipers and a fitting kit for my 1997 Citroen Xantia 1.9 Turbo Diesel Estate but I'm having trouble finding them. ( I have the Pads )

Wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction?

My mums Xsara is a 2.0 HDi 90, recently it started to produce more black smoke than normal. It also seems to have lost some of its already limited 90 horses to the point where setting off from a junction in 1st feels like its in 4th and the car chuggs out black smoke until it builds up momentum.

What might be going wrong?

So, after numerous issues and finding out the Head gasket had gone, I put a remanufactured engine into my 2003 Dispatch. I could have bought 3 second hand ones for the price but thought it a safer bet as everything was to original manufacturers tolerances plus a one year unlimited mileage warranty. Since installing it I've been back to garage 3...

I agree with just about everything that BX wrote above with the exception of reboring. Beans Engineering, which used to produce BL Gold Seal and Silver Seal engines, used to bore and sleeve all blocks and then bore out the sleeves to use standard size pistons.

I think that might be classed as remanufacturing rather than simple reconditioning...

Hi,

I have two blank keys for my Xsara and when I took them to get cut last week one place said the 4 sided keys are high risk and not many cut them, has anyone had any joy getting a SX9 blank cut?

These are two different things. The central locking buttons and components are NOT the same as the chip that allows the car to start.

My 99 Xantia HDI is less supple that it was, eternal cheapskate that I am I have noticed the laminated spheres fitted to the plentiful C5s in the breakers, will they fit?

I don't think the 'flying saucer' spheres fit directly (also they're specced to run on LDS fluid not the LHM in Xantias) as the size of the thread on the sphere fixing is different. There was a chap on one of the French forums who drew up and made a set of sphere adapters to fit the C5 spheres on to previous Citroens but you'd have to make them or...

Hi guys, have had diesel additive low on screen, have had 2 ltrs pat fluid put in tank, will Lexis clear ecu and stop message, if so what is best version to use on 2004 C8 2.0 hdi executive. Have got spare laptop just need advice before buying. Live in Walsall West Midlands anyone local who could show me the ropes or clear nag.

Can someone remind me of the procedure for removing the rear spheres on a xantia? Just the 2 suspension spheres on a basic LX model. I recall that the rams go loose if all the pressure is relieved, which means the pipes get stressed when twisting the spheres free.

If the ram persists in trying to turn then ballast in the boot is what you need, my personal record is a family of four perched in the boot while I belaboured the stuck spheres!

Aargh - I've been struck by the curse of the leaky X7 steering rack :shock:

I haven't been using the car over the last few months but had to take it in for its MOT yesterday.
Oh dear - it's dribbling LDS from the offside of the front undertray and leaving a trail down the drive.

In my case it was the 5th Gear and the Syncro worn. Used a great Guy, P and R Gearboxes in Crawley, Sussex, UK. He stripped the gearbox for me and checked it all over and replaced a few bits, and I had change from £250. I have now put it all back together, with new driveshaft's and also did the front discs and...

This is showing a LMH leak from the accumulator assembly on my 93 xantia sinker, it appears to be coming from behind the arrowed plate, is there supposed to be an O ring or gasket behind the plate ?

Hi Guy's
Was looking in the engine bay and fond a small container fastened to the side of the inner wing on the drivers side of my C5 X7. The bottle seems to have what seems like oil in it. It has a large pipe from the bottom which goes down the engine bay and disappears. What could it be. I would put an image on for all to see but I don't know...

I was about to fix up the front brakes on my old Picasso 90 HDI from 01 with Lucas calipers
BUT wear & tear included a large amount of road salt (DK) have done it's job well
The air bleeder screws all way around are more or less gone, the visible part at least :?

As I've just removed the locking nuts on my C5, I needed 4 of the chromed caps to fit over the replacement nuts. Cheapest I could find them was £7.50 for 4 on fleabay. Then I looked on AliExpress and found these - .....under £3.50 for 20, including delivery.

I was a bit sceptical, thinking they'd be like shiny tissue paper, but no...they're...

Bit of a basic question but can someone please tell me do the brakes, steering and suspension all work off the LHM fluid as I am trying to trace a leak, first noticed that the little yellow disc was at a low level and the STOP light stayed on, many thanks :(

Is it possible to fit a new water pump without locking the crank and removing the auxiliary belt?
I mean, could I simply remove the top cover timing belt cover and release the tensioner, then fit a new water pump?
