PAS flexi question

Post by ksanturion10 »

Hi everybody,
I'm wondering if the cap end encircled into the enclosed picture could be unscrewed without any destructive method?
From what I've red into the forum, this should be the so called "PAS flexi" pipe.

No, I think that those connections are crimped and cannot be re-used.

You haven't said what your actual problem is, but faced with a leaking hose, you probably need to find a good used example, or take it to a hydraulic specialist for repair.

This one I found from a Xantia sedan (hatchback) 1.6i model, and it is in very good condition, compared to mine, which is now not holding the pressure at its far end (closer to the wheel). The thing is, that the bends over the metal sections doesn't match and I was wondering if I can replace only the rubber section. It seems I will have to find exactly the same pipe from another car with the same engine :(

Hi again folks,
does anybody knows, what is the working pressure for this "PAS flexi" pipe?
I'm wondering if there is constant return of fluid to the reservoir trought the steering rack pinion return pipe, or it returns only at the travel limits?
BTW, the rubber pipe was OK, the steel pipe broke in my hands while trying to dismantle it from its holders to the body.

The pipe in the picture above looks like the high pressure hose from the pump to the pinion valve.

Is your car is fitted with anti-sink or not, (does it have a single outlet or dual outlet pump?)

I'm making pipe from the one in the picture and the one I broke from the car.
I'm using 250 bar working pressure connection fitting and was wondering if it will do the job.
In the Haynes they say 140 bar to 175 bar for the hydraulic system as a whole, so I think it should be OK.
