Post by jbyt23 »

Hi,

i have a problem with my citroen xsara phase 2 (2005). The car wont turn off normally. The only way to turn off the car is to put it on reverse gear. any idea??

Thanks

Need a bit more details like fuel type & engine size.
I’ll have a guess that its a 2.0 HDi diesel?
Have you checked fir any fault codes.
Any work been done on it recently?
When you stall the engine & take the key out do all the dash lights go out?

Engine: 1.4 petrol
No fault codes
The car was "sleeping" for about 4 years.
Some electrical work was done to reconnect all lights..

It is likely that a wire has been connected to the wrong place, the wiring really needs to be re-checked.

There will (probably) either be a direct feed from the battery to the ignition circuit that should not be there, or the alternator has been connected wrongly, feeding its output to the ignition circuit instead of the battery.
