Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

my first post
ok belt decided to shred itself due to alignment problem on tensioner pulley .

taking that tensioner off was interesting however its not a good design realy the bush through the middle has got needle bearing marks indented in it -amazing how it could have done this to a hardened shaft

Hello, I have this Sreg diesel 306 pas, non-T... heater blower fan was working fine, cold wether, had it on most of time... next day, suddenly not working at all... dead. I've recently bought a 1998 reg 1.4 306 and since buying it I've found out that they are prone to running and idleing problems. My problem is slightly different, it idles and drives 100% however every now and then it will cut out completely. If i'm stopped at traffic lights for example most of the time it will sit the idleing fine but sometimes it...

Hello, I am trying to change an alternator on a Sreg pug306 1.9 diesel PAS. It has eccentric belt tensioner...I cant undo the allun hex in the centre/off centre...I have been bashing away with impact driver and am now begining to damage it. Am I missing something...is it left thread? Any help would be really gratefully recieved.. cheers.

I think these freezing conditions are effecting my car. After about 3 hours of locking my car up for the night i look out the window and see the lights are flashing.

how do i disconnect the alarm. i see under the bonnet there is a key for the alarm and it is set to off.
so is there a fuse i could pull out or something?

I cannot recall the proper procedure to disconnect these, it will not be a simple case of a fuse for obvious theft reasons.

I have a small leak seaping out on the inlet manifold on my 306 hdi (towards the right of the manifold)

I just wondered if there was a gasket that could be replaced?

Also what could cause the oil to seap out of there?

from the pic it looks more like the joint between the inlet manifold and the elbow rather than between the inlet manifold and cylinder head

which is good because that also looks a lot easier to change than having to take the inlet manifold off.

I'm not familiar with the 90bhp engine, is there a rubber section joining the turbo outlet to that...

During the week, Robyn, my daughter, switched on her rear wiper whilst the screen was covered in ice. Being as the rear wiper arm is just flimsy plastic, it promptly broke at the boss where it attaches to the wiper motor spindle.

Our factors don't stock them Main Dealer Only Mate...

I'm a little confused about the union nut that goes into the rear cylinders on my 405. They seem a bit bigger than the standard 10mm union nuts I've bought. Does anyone know what size these are and where to get them? No mention on Servicebox, and I don't see any other sizes readily available online.

I have just changed from 2000 V reg 1.9td Dispatch van (like Expert) to 2002 (52) 2.0 HDI.

So far everything is ok except the heater.

On the older van the heater blows really hot, very nice and cosy.

On the new van the heater barely warms up. The fan works ok and the dashboard controls seem to work (different directions/fan speed/hot-cold)....

yeah sorry, a multimeter, if the motor is good, and the switch is working which it must be as the relay clicks and the washer works then there must be a break in power between the fuseboard and the motor itself.

Had to jump start my '05 206 this morning. After doing this the engine kept revving to around 4000 until I touched the accelerator when it dropped to 1000 revs then jumped to 2500, and keeps doing this. Do I need to reset the BSI or is there something I'm missing?

My 607 HDI auto is desperately slow off the line when the engine and/or transmission is cold.
After five or ten minutes it's fine, and above maybe 10 or 15mph it's fine as well.
It's as if the transmission doesn't allow enough torque converter slip for the turbo to do anything.

I have bought an old 2002 Dispatch (same as Expert), but the front seats are torn and dirty and so not as good as the front seats on my 2000 version that has just failed MOT on emisions and is not worth the repair costs., but was very clean up front.

It is the three front seat version. I have looked and there are some allen key style screws...

I was replacing a rear wheel bearing on my 1998 106 1.1 and discovered the thread holding the hub on was quite badly damaged. Someone told me that the thread is splined in from the back and can be replaced with a new one. Is this the case? The Haynes doesn't mention this.

Rear stub axle pins are available from Euro car parts or GSF car parts.Just hammer the pin out (with a very big hammer!) and same in reverse,15 min job!There are lots of different lengths so make sure you get the correct one.

Hi!

I've also got a problem with the cruise control on my 406 HDi - that doesn't work either!!!

I bought the car in Newton Aycliffe and driving it down the M6 from Tebay (J38) to just before J32 at Preston I know for a fact the cruise control worked fine then!!!

I've got some of Pugshot's blue wiring manuals but they're only for the D8 phase 1...

You may have to join two of the wires together in the plug to bypass it then.

With other PSA cars of the era, it's been as simple as disconnect resistor, throw away... Bypassing the relays is a good plan on 2cvs, though - might do it here, as well - it helps to keep things cool and saves embarrassment when a relay has a little lie-down and...

Hi peeps.

Thought I'd waste a bit of time today to try and fix my central locking. Simply dosn't function at all. When I use the fob I can hear a relay clicking so undaunted I scrabbled about under the glove box and managed to remove the CL Unit. The thermal fuse had gone but resoldering made no difference.

I did think about the 306 unit (the on thats fitted under the drivers seat but that's combined alarm / immobilizer as well as the 'memory' for the remote locking) , although that one does come apart quite easily.

I was finding it difficult to start my 405 td in recent cold mornings so i decided to replace my glow plugs. I've never done glow plugs before but i assumed they were as easy as spark plugs.

Hi!

I've heard about the horrendously expensive failure that can occur in the fuel injection of HDi engines due to swarf deposits etc., can anyone give me a concise list of where to check for this problem please?

Is it worth getting a new lift-pump/tank unit assembly (£75 or so fleabay, haven't checked on GSF yet!!!) as well as a new fuel...

The problem (was) initially (on some at least) caused by a bearing breaking up in the high pressure pump. This led to said swarf reaching injectors and then returning to the pump and filter, hence you see swarf in the filter.

Hi!

My '406 has 101,700 on the clock and as I have no idea as to when the TB was done, I'm preparing to replace it!!! 2.0 HDi 110, engine code RHZ, ECU setup Bosch EDC15P (I think!!!)

1) How much damage will occur if it breaks?!

2) Can anyone offer me the correct GSF stock codes? Do I need any tensioners, auxiliary pulleys, etc., and what about...

Quite apart from all the clutch and gearbox woes I've chronicled on this forum about the Pugshot 406 HDi 110 I bought in the summer, I've now got a much more mundane one I'd appreciate help with - LEAKS!!!

Are you sure its not the windscreen?

Remove the the side trims that go down the side of the windscreen and then run your hose pipe all the way around the windscreen while someone is inside the car looking for water leaks.

Brother-in-law's 406 2L GLX Estate (97) has developed a pipe leak between the tank and the fuel filter. Peugeot part number is 1573XA but they say the part is no longer supplied.

Is is likely that scrap yards would let you have such a part ('ealth'n'safety etc)?
Does the pipe run involve removing the tank or anything silly like that?

I don't have access to my tech data but I think that piece has the click connectors and is simply a S type shaped piece of plastic from the tank outlet to the filter, as the filter is quite near the tank really anyway.

You should be able to get at it from under the rear seats (remove plastic blank in floor)

I don't think the tank will have to...

I have a '91 405 with a slipping clutch. The cost of a 3 piece kit here is 3 times what one costs in the UK so I'm wondering if it can be adjusted for the time being at the cable. One mechanic says it can another says it can't :? It's been slipping slightly when accelerating uphill for a couple of weeks now.

My '406's Factory-fitted CD changer has just developed an interesting study in skipping and jumping, with the music beginning to sound like a pmneumatic hammer-drill and long periods of silence, altho' the elapsed time indicator on the centre display still continues to work!!!

Both commercially pressed and home-burnt CDs suffer from this,...

Hi there

My Mrs has an 02 plate 307, 5 door in a metallic burnt orange colour. It's a rapier so has got alloy wheels (5 spoke 16inch) She's talked about changing them air something bit nicer and bigger so I may get her some for Christmas. Just wondered what wheels might suit the car?

Would even consider standard Pug wheels and getting them...

For the sake of ease of fitting (and probably insurance purposes) I would suggest fitting different 307 alloys.

The DTurbo ones (I think) are 17 and some were (rare!) available in anthracite too.

Managed to get a bosch fuel pressure regulator for £200 cheaper than peugeot.

Its a genuine part too. Just by going on bosch's website and looking for local distributors.

Also got a maf sensor for about £10 cheaper than peugeot and thats also a genuine part.

So now ill get the job done for £200 as apposed to £400 which would possibly have...

1989 Pug 205 1.9 GTi. The speedometer drive pinion is ok, but the large plastic gear in the housing which the offside drive shaft passes through seems to be damaged.
My head hurts! I have had a new cable on before I realised the problem.
Anyone know where I could find a new plastic drive cog?

Ive just got my car back from its diagnostic at a pug/cit specialist.

He told me there were a few problems. 1st ill quickly explain the symptoms.

Sluggish when turning over. Engine revs drop when braking until pedal is lifted. Engine 'over run' a few times when ignition is turned off (this is what set the management light off)

Just spoke to the garage, they said the part is £293 for the pressure regulator and £100 for the maf flow sensor and about £75+VAT fitting.

I know they are straight forward jobs especially the maf sensor but its keeping the regulator absolutley clean that would be difficult and I would rather leave that to an expert.

All in all im looking at...

Hi all just had code reader on my 406 hdi and it's showing this >

Record1 -> 406 -> Diesel engine -> RHZ BOSCH EDC15C2 -> Read Codes
INTERMITTENT FAULT. ADDITIONAL HEATING CIRCUIT. SHORT-CIRCUIT TO POSITIVE.

anyone any idea what it is ? duff glow plug maybe ? it's not putting the mil on

Yet again I have what will probably turn out to be a stupid question, but here goes.

I have just been out for a short drive in the 406, I thought the car felt a bit odd (sorry can't define what I mean) at the front left, I had a look at the front left tyre when I got back, and noticed there is a yellowy brown line running right around the centre...

Right I have now got brand new tyres on the front, and the car feels so much better; The tracking was slightly out and has also been corrected.

Even with the warning that the tyres may be slippery for the first 100 miles or so they have more grip than the old ones.

In the end I went with Kumho tyres, which the tyre place recommended very highly....

Basically when I'm stationary in traffic and want to move off it seems like if the accelerator doesent work. I need to put it to neutral and try to rev it up sometimes it works straight away sometimes the accelerator pedal just does not react!

In common with many modern diesels, the HDI will not allow you to rev the engine if you have pressed the brake pedal for more than a few seconds. The idea is that if the accelerator pedal sensor has a fault which causes unintended acceleration that the brake pedal will override it.
Also I think that the brake pedal has two switches in case one...

Can anyone tell me if the windows on an 2002, 406 are multiplexed or conventionally wired and what would cause them to operate intemittently? Do they suffer with faulty switches like the Citroens?

Seeks to idle at 1100prm when hot but will sometimes idle at 1300 or anything inbetween and is not happy at below 900 when hot.
If I reduce the 1100prm idle it will continually stall when idling cold. Any ideas please?

I had to fit a new steering rack gaiter on my 607 because the old one had split (glad I did because it was wet inside).

The new one came with a metal clip but I couldn't fit it. For the moment it's on with tie wraps.

Is there a special tool for these?

This is a pic of the old one but the new one looks the same

Yes, I think boot clamp pliers is what you need, although that clip looks a bit different to the ones I've used :? I got a set very cheaply on ebay to do my CV boots.

I have a 2001 306 2.0hdi. It runs well usually even with 200,000 miles on the clock

Recently when braking I noticed the revs would drop to the point where it would feel like it is going to stall. When I take my foot off the brake the revs return to normal.

Is this due to a vacuum pump or servo problem?

The engine warning light came on recently...

Hello, I have a 2002 2.0 hdi 110 with what sounds like a noisy thrust bearing as there is a squealing noise when depressing the clutch pedal.
Will a solid flywheel and clutch off a '98 406 2.1 td fit the car and bellhousing which is a pull release same as the hdi 110?
I would prefer to do away with the dual mass flywheel if I am replacing the...

Citroen list a different part number for the 2.1 TD flywheel vs the 2.0 HDi 110 (which uses a solid flywheel in the Xantia) - but the same clutch. So i might fit - there's probably only one way to find out!

I have a 99 1.9d partner and about 2 months ago the headgasket went, i think the block had cracked and the whole cooling system filled with gunky oily paste - my mate who used to own the van put 6 eggs in the system to try and cure a radiator leak - big mistake.
