307 CC high clutch?

Post by johntom »

Hi
I have just bought a 307cc 2.0 petrol, the clutch pedal bites right at the top. I've heard peugeots tend towards high clutches, but surely right at the top isn't how it should be? can anyone advise how their's is ?

My 406 Hdi was like that when I bought it, 60,000 miles later it still is.

I did a 206 2.0 petrol clutch last week John (post below this), its hydraulic on that so no adjustment.. new biting point where I would expect it, about half way..

if your clutch works, is smooth and makes no noises I would be tempted to forget about it - at least until the days are warm and light.. maybe keep eye out for a Valeo or LUK on offer or on ebay as a new but box-opened part so you have it when needed.. and the diff seals and oil. As Peter says they can go on for years like this

Thanks for the replies. The pedal seems fairly light, quiet and smooth in operation however there is a slight hint of judder when setting off. I didn't really expect it would need a clutch at 65k (changed the Volvo one at 130k) however the pedal just seems unnaturally high.

I have a Citroen C4 VTS which is based on the same platform as the 307 and the clutch biting point is known to be high on these.

I wanted to change the one I did, because I noticed a judder on pickup.. as it is, it was left until the release bearing gave up 2 weeks ago (car was purchased in about July)
I think the judder was caused by some burning visible on the flywheel and friction plate.. possibly relating to the history of this CC , say no more on that ;) it probably has nothing to do with the demise of the bearing.. as it is, a juddery clutch is annoying
