Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

We have 56reg 1007 1.4hdi and it is struggling to start when engine is cold, especially now, after temperature drops below 5 degrees. I plugged it to pp2000 and there is a permanent fault on glow plug relay. Also, I never seen it turning the glow plug light on the instrument cluster. Hi

Looking at replacing my trusty Citroen C5 2.2L with a 2009 Peugeot 207 sw. The road tax wll certaily be a lot less and mpg much better although the ride will not be that of the Citroen.

What should I be looking out for at the veiwing?

I am too. Useually caused simply be the injector clamp bolts loosening off the causing injector blow past.
volvo use this same dv6 engine they are advised at service to check injector clamp bolts. How many fails do you see... Virtually none of any.
Ford and psa do not advise it.. How many do we see... Ooodles of them.

I'm wondering what peoples thoughts are on changing the gearbox oil on manual 'boxes.
My Peugeot 207SW, manual, has done 67500 miles and being no fan of everlasting gear oil, was thinking of getting it changed at 70,000 and it seems to need 2 litres of 75W-80.

Hi,
I have brought some new brake pads, which I have found are directional. There are no marks and double chamfers. I checked the Ferodo web site and it says fit the larger chamfer to the leading edge of the rotor.
My question is, when it says larger chamfer, does this refer to the steeper angle or the larger surface area.

How much is it to fix or repair 5008 automatic gearbox (in UK)? Including part (i guess it could be bought from brakers)? Are there any difficulties in this process?
In general is it worth getting involved in buying a car with ruined gearbox or engine with intent of repairing (I’m not a mechanic myself)?

Good morning all. So, last night on a standard trip back from Scarborough to home my headlights on the coupe decided they only wanted point about 6 feet infront of the car. Not so much of a problem normally, but pitch black country roads, 0c, hail rain and heavy wind, certainly made it a sometimes point the car in a direction and hope for the best...

Hi All, just replaced my dipstick guide pipe and have to now replace my exhaust manifold.

The Haynes manual states exhaust manifold nuts torque is:
Long nuts = 16Nm.
Short nuts = 25Nm.

My (copper?) nuts fit a 13mm socket, have a flat round back 18mm diameter, and stand 8mm high (including the round flat).

My guess is that they are 'short'...

Yes Marc, great to have those other values too. I would have under tightened the sprung nuts (8) on the intermediate pipe otherwise.

Hello everyone,

1 month ago my car (406 1.8 16V LFY) had a charging system issue. The alternator didn't charge the battery and the battery warning light stayed on.
The alternator diagnosed as faulty. The repairman told me that the Brushes are worn but you must replace the whole voltage regulator as a whole and not just the brushes.

I recently bought a 2001 Expert 1.9D. The seller warned me that it was hard to start and needed a new battery. I had a spare nearly new one in the shed so that was the first thing I did. It is still a so-and-so to start and in fact the only way to get it going first turn is to start by getting up some pressure by pumping the little manual bleed...

Ok, just recently purchased this car, very comfortable to drive, so much adjustment on the seat.

I got the 2.2 HDI twin turbo engine 168bhp apparently. Turbo kicks in quite early.

The only thing ive noticed is the power. I had before a 2005 Ford mondeo TDCI 130, which has 129bhp. So i would like to imagine there should be a big difference in...

Hi a couple of days ago I sat in my car at idle (2011 1.6l 3008) and could feel it was a bit lumpy/rough but didn't think much of it. So the next day I drove from Birmingham to London and after around 80 miles I had a warning come up on the dash Engine Fault, Repair Needed so pulled over to the hard shoulder as I think I momentarily lost power, so...

My 207SW doesn't have them and thinking they are a pretty good idea I plan to fit some. Plan A is to hang them from the large plastic moulding that runs transversely across the grille.

I'm about to replace inlet manifold gaskets of my Peugeot 406 1.8 16V (XU7JP4 LFY) petrol engine.

Do I need to apply grease on new gaskets before installation? Some say it is necessary, some say the opposite! I'm confused!

Got myself the Diagbox and the adaptor for my Peugeot.

Ran a full scan and a couple of faults have shown up.

The car starts, and runs fine. Although now and again, when not moving very fast (1st gear speed) the power steering might feel or a second or two, as if its not assisting enough.

I have attached a screen shot of the report file.

Finally after years of wanting one, I got one (this'll teach me to impulse buy).
I was under the impression all 407 coupes had front parking sensors? Mine doesn't, and that front end isn't the easiest to judge :rofl2:
I've still got to spend some time getting to grips with all the buttons, never seen so many, and the damn voice control isn't...

Hi all, just had to be recovered, I'm at home but the car is at a depot 40 miles away so I can't check anything. Put my foot down to overtake, heard a bang, sudden loss of power. Cruising at 50 mph all seemed good. Checked for warning lights, temps etc., all fine. Got to the station to pick my son up and coolant was dripping heavily from the rad....

Hi I have replaced my bsi ecu and key fob from a donor cat but now I have the mileage from both cars I have the vin number from the donor car is there any way to get just my original mileage I’d appreciate any help thank you.

Ahhh, the good old days when all you needed was a pin and a small screw driver to clock a car.

All you need now to clock , sorry correct the mileage in the majority of cars is a laptop & OBD cable. If anything its probably now easier than the olden days & more difficult to detect. Some manufacturers even store the mileage in the key now but even...

Hi all.

I have an issue with the audio on the 308, it will intermittently cut out every now and then, I am aware there is a service bulletin out for this one although when I have visited my local Peugeot dealer, they have advised the vehicle needs a new contract via Peugeot connect, which I do not believe to be true.

What is the spec on the fluid for that Peugot/Aisin auto box?. This is a proper epicyclic box on a Black Hack auto. I know older boxes were JWS 3309 as in my Vel Satis, but what is the latest Mobil version of oil for that new box?

Here again, doing my swede now. Looked at getting a trailer and my mate's 3.5T tipper to recover the 407, but the tow bar doesn't match the hitch height. Next choice is a mate with a Landrover and a solid towing bar. Then looked up towing an auto with all wheels on the floor. Apparently it's not a good idea as the gearbox doesn't get properly...

I've always wondered why auto boxes couldn't have a special mode whereby the internal oil pump could be powered by the output shafts, that way they could be properly lubricated when being towed and a bump start would be possible. IIRC some early Jag auto boxes had a pump on the output shaft for just such a purpose.

The brake pedal is hard even with engine running. It has done this occasionally in the past but getting worse. There is a vacuum from the pump. She also had mentioned the engine revs sometimes drop like a big load has been applyed. Looking online seems to suggest the booster(servo) is likely to be the problem. My bombproof, everlasting 406 Hdi has just let me down, but has now recovered. :? I had the timing slip the other day and concluded that a follower had broken. I managed to get it running again with some ether spray so I could get it nice and hot in order to get the injectors out. I am looking to replace both front wings on my mums 206 1.6 2006 and have read that its a really simple and quick job. I am not a mechanic or panel beater but am very practical and feel confident enough to do the job.

My 2010 207 1.6hdi (50k) has an occasional chirp that seems to come from the crank pulley area at tick over. I bought a cheap new replacement pulley mail order which I fitted but the noise is still there. To eliminate I removed the aux belt, the noise was still there so I then remove the pulley and started the engine, all quiet.

It’s probably all the pulleys. You can get a timing belt kit that contains all the pulleys too. You’ll find when they’ve been replaced that it will usually sound as new again. I had all mine done with the timing belt and it stopped all the noises.

This is on a 2005 1007. Engine runs on when ignition key is switched off (and removed). All runs as normal as do the electrics, once stalled the ignition & electrics is off. You can also kill the engine by unplugging the larger connector on the ignition switch.

I have tried 3 different ignition switches, changed the fuel filter, changed the BSM,...

Some of you may remember me droning on about the fuel consumption of my recently acquired 406 Hdi estate some years ago, it would always give me 60 + mpg on a long run but the two I have had since that one got written of by water in the electronics have only ever returned about 55 mpg. I put it down to defective calibration.

I got a 2007 307 1600cc petrol that won't go up hills,no engine management light on -but I got an Autel printout that says

1. P1645 Accelerator Pedal point of resistance informationcoherance Permanent fault

2.P0130 Upstream oxygen sensor signalcoherence intermittent fault

anyone any ideas ?

P0130 is not a check engine light? Is the oxygen sensor still functioning?

P1645 is accelerator pedal sending wrong information. Have you tried another second hand unit?
