Peugeot partner preventative maintenance
Hi, our company recently purchased a Peugeot partner 67 plate 1.6 blue hdi at 100k miles. I have been researching and wanted to avoid the 16 valve iteration. I would be grateful of any advice regarding preventative maintenance tips and recommendations. I have read a few stories of the adblue tank needing replacement at great cost but this seems to be very few and far between considering the number of units out there. Is there anything that can be done to reduce the likelihood of failure?
Also there is no record of the timing belt being replaced, what interval is this recommended at?
Oil service intervals have been every 10 to 20k miles, I would make certain this was 10k max in our ownership. I don't agree with manufacturers long life intervals and would use shell helix ultra or millers nanodrive oils. Is this prudent advice?
Finally regarding the dpf/fap I have used the app to check stats and I will upload a screenshot. I'm trying to ascertain what the different descriptions mean, for example the fap life left is this just an estimation? Also the deposits in fap is 37g, does anyone know the level for which this alerts for a replacement or cleaning of the fap?
Many thanks in advance, this forum is a wealth of knowledge.

Re: Peugeot partner preventative maintenance
Hi, and
to the Forum. There have been Forum members who have successfully cleaned the DPF (they get clogged with Cerine, I believe), by removing the filter and using an oven cleaner (but I would check that first). Once the DPF is clean you have to tell the vehicle that the filter has been replaced, as it cannot detect the filter has been cleaned.

Re: Peugeot partner preventative maintenance
First thing to do is pop your VIN up for me so I can advise on the timing belt issue specific to this engine (please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff).
Next, your DPF additive tank has a capacity of about 1.2L and it is estimating you have 251 ml (about a quarter) of a tank of fluid left.
Next the Deposits in the FAP. There are elements in the organic Cerine compound used in the Eolys additive that cannot be burned off through regeneration of the particle filter. These along with elements of the engine debris, carbon and ash will ultimately block up the filter.
The grammes weight of the additive in grammes that is deposited in the filter are estimated by the engine ECU and when they get to higher levels it will trigger replacement of the particle filter warnings.
The FAP Life left is an estimation of service life remaining based on distance before it will need replacing or cleaning. Depending on version and engine / model these have a varying life of anything up to 150k miles. But this can be increased or reduced depending on driving style and conditions and how blocked the filter is.

Re: Peugeot partner preventative maintenance
Many thanks for the replies. I will post the vin later when I get home. Yeah I have seen many forums and videos of dpf cleaning rather than replacing at a much cheaper cost. I'm just a bit confused regarding the deposits in the fap vs fap life left. I have seen mention of around 80g for the deposit limit in the 1.6 which would mean it is around half capacity at 100k miles but yet the fap life is saying less than 10k miles is remaining. The yearly milage has been fairly high so I'm tipping a lot if motorway miles ideal for passive filter regeneration as opposedto active. If driving habits were to stay the same would that mean potentially another 100k before issues for cleaning or replacement arise or am I looking at this wrong?

Re: Peugeot partner preventative maintenance
Not really, as you forget that the additive is dosed into the fuel system whenever fuel is added. Therefore the Cerine is already in the system, regardless if the filter is passively regenerated or actively regenerated. So highly unlikely you will get another 100k out of it.
Motorway miles are good in that apart from passive regelation, it gives the car a chance to get to temperature more quickly as opposed to shorter stop start journeys that can prevent regeneration from completing, requiring the process to be delayed until the next opportunity, which can lead to quicker clogging.

Re: Peugeot partner preventative maintenance
Ok thanks Marc much appreciated. Do you think I should be concerned about the 12k fap life left? I also run archoil 6900 or millers cetane booster and detergent for a cleaner burn and always get brilliant results on economy and use a concentrated form one shot every 6 month for a deep clean (archoil 6400d max) This also has combustion catalyst in it which is supposed to aid in regeneration and lower temps but as this is slightly different system with the eolys should I proceed with the same process or could I risk damage? I'll ask their tech support aswell see what they recommend.

Re: Peugeot partner preventative maintenance
Ok so on this model the coolant pump and the timing kit should be replaced every 112000 Miles / 10 year(s) whichever is the soonest, but I personally would not leave ituntil the outer limits.
So on mileage alone it's about due now.

Re: Peugeot partner preventative maintenance
Ok many thanks, I'll look at getting them both done soon. What are your thoughts on the fap life left? What would you roughly estimate for those figures? Also if 3/4 additive has been used does that leave roughly 20k miles before needing top up? Quarter of 80k being 20k

Re: Peugeot partner preventative maintenance
You can safely ignore the DPF until such time as you start getting warnings about clogging or a service message. Also you will get a warning about the Eolys fluid requiring a top up (which is calculated from the estimated volume remaining as it is not physically measured) when it looks at the estimated remaining fluid against the miles remaining on the service maintenance indicator. If the fluid is deemed to be low and from the miles remaining until the next service it thinks the fluid will be insufficient, it will flag a warning up about requiring a top up.

Ok cheers, much appreciated. As an aside do you know where I can acquire firmware updates for the infotainment system? It keeps turning its self off and cutting out with Bluetooth or dab on. Looks to be a common issue with a certain firmware version.

Re: Peugeot partner preventative maintenance
You have a SMEG+ IV2 telematic unit. Firmware rarely sorts this sort of thing out. If it's rebooting / restarting all the time, then it probably needs repairing or replacing (internal memory failing).
The latest firmware is available from Peugeot on a supplied USB stick for £62.51 inc. VAT. You may be able to find the appropriate version with a Google - but you'll need to know the software version you have first. Be aware though, that if the internal memory is failing, reinstalling the firmware may cause more problems as it attempts to write and replace the data.
How to check your software version:
-Make a long press (press and hold for 5 seconds) on the "Settings" menu
-Select: System version
-View the software version displayed
One other word of warning, some updates (depending on original software and what update you're going to) can mean the dealer will need to configure the unit again as it may casue problems with operation and the display.

Re: Peugeot partner preventative maintenance
Cheers Marc top man. I think I may leave it to a peugeot dealer or a specialist as I have both on my doorstep and warranty so I will push it through that rather than mess and potentially cause further problems like you say.
What are the engines like on these motors compared to the 16v ones? Have the turbo and injector issues been ironed out?

Re: Peugeot partner preventative maintenance
Like everything, improvements are made in each generation of the base engine. But a good maintenance regime & regular oil changes are key.
