Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

And so it begins.......
My new GTI Turbo cuts out if left idling for too long.
the fans are cutting in at 90 degrees, and the temp is falling fine,
The car always restarts after about 5-10minutes
I tempted to suspect my aftermarket coils overheating? but have no scientific basis for this
This eve, it disgraced itself, then I got it home, so left...

The gauge in my 1998 Exclusive hatchback TDi is intermittent. Can't buy one on internet - no longer manufactured by either VDO or Pierburg it seems. Can anyone help with a unit rescued from a scrap car? Preferably working, but I believe there is a company in USA that can repair non-working units.

Three days after its MOT the EPB on my C5 started playing up, auto handbrake and hill start both failing. Diagnostics came up with a permanent fault on the EPB cables. Attempting to re-tension/calibrate failed. I've removed the unit from the car and have been looking for a used replacement given the ridiculous amount Citroen want for a new one,...

My advice would be to find a way to fit the Nissan hubs/ABS etc to the Citroen suspension. Then all you need for basic suspension is a pump, which could be done in many ways. You could (perhaps later) upgrade the suspension to Hydractive by fitting the extra spheres, valves, sensors and electronics.

So, earlier today I was at a car showroom possibly looking at changing my car.

Anyway about half an hour later myself and the salesman walked to my car so he could look round to value it. We try to start it up. Dead.

Stone cold dead.

They tried a jump starter box on it but no joy. So I called Green Flag who came out and managed to start it...

Would it have to be hooked up to a lexia after fitting etc.

It looks like I have a leakage at the left strut. It leaks on the strut's shaft and all over the strut body. As I understood it is not likely that the strut ram is leaking and it is probably the O-rings at the strut top.
On the shaft there is a side port that provides the oil supply, should this port be aligned with the holes in the strut top ?...

Can't help with the 'O' ring question but aligning the ports makes no difference - nigh-on impossible anyway. If you look at the strut mount, you'll see that the shaft port aligns with an annular groove all the way round the taper seat in the mount.
The Wiki on mount replacement may help with tips (tho' not with seals).

Well I cannot replicate it (always the way) but the new owner has experienced a gentle loss of power twice now to the point she thinks the car will stop. Shortly after it starts and runs fine.

Hi to all.

Thought I could share a little story about how things can go wrong with a simple task of changing glow plugs to my 2.7HDI. Simple job to strip top of the engine and just change these... Or so I thought.

Two of the glow plugs were already broken by previous owner and one I broke while twisting it open. Glow plugs snapped right above...

I have fixed one by pushing a piece of fine wire (old-fashioned telephone twisted pair) through the trip reset hole and feeding it across until it nudged the tachometer needle.

I have a Lexia Pp 2000 kit which I bought. I was told an Exiciter is required. However, because I work in Mainland China mostly now, many forums and website are blocked. So I am having a difficult time researching documentation on this unit/software.

After the opinions of the collective minds here.
Fed up with my C5 Thp and looking to replace it with another C5 but diesel.
I only really drive to work and a few trips and maybe twice a year with a caravan.
What are the good/bad points of the 1.6 and 2.0 diesels (approx. 2011 build year onwards)

How far do you drive? A diesel is not suited to short trips.... The 16 valve 1.6 pre 2011 is a bit of a 'mare, but the 8V later unit is much better. I think it would struggle a bit in an X7 thought, especially if you tow a 'van. The 2.0 16V is pretty good, if a bit thirstier. Are there other petrols than the 1.6THP available - probably worth a...

Have been away for a week or so and tried to start the C5 Saturday but all I had was a clicking sound. No problem I thought, it usually needs a bit of a battery top up when its been left for over a week, so plugged in the Ctek and left it a couple of days.

Tried it this morning and still the same. Plenty of battery juice but the starter solenoid...

Does seem strange. I also remember that when the started was changed in my other C5 the garage told me there were 3 different possible types, even one with 5 fixings which presumably had a different gearbox housing...... :roll:

Some of you might use the MyCitroen website - you can register your car and see maintenance schedules, recalls, documentation and the suchlike. If you have a recent (Mid 2015 on) car with Mapcare - free satnav updates - its the only route to get those updates.

The site has been down since late March, reporting error 142, some bits look as through...

Bought this car recently. Some oil was leaking close to timing belt. Did not pay attention too much as it was small leak.
Bought it cheap as had some suspension issues that most of them sorted by now. Oil and oil filter was filthy as previous owner did not change it just been topping up as far as I understood. On computer was message on neutral...

Yesterday after not working since I got the car, my tailgate glass came open. ( I didn't open it )The micro switch either hasn't got power or is duff. Now it won't latch shut and I can't lock the car and the rear wiper won't work .

I have noticed that the steering rack boot / gaiter for my 2005 C5 II 3.0 V6 has been cracked / split, which now allow me to see the rack when I turn the steering. Can someone let me know what the of lubrication does the rack / pinion use? Oil or grease? And if so, what brand of spec do you recommend? Thanks.

My c5 rolled off my car lift and crushed the front bumper.
Now I have a fault on the dash about the airbag. Is it a matter of sourcing another bumper with airbag sensor from a scrapie and fitting it? Will the fault resolve without a lexia?

I've just been lucky enough to aquire a Series 2 Turbo 1, and I'd forgotten just how bloody wonderful they are! Black, with black leather, this may (should) ! be the CX I finally keep!

Hi, I've dismantled the flow divider for cleaning and adding shims under springs. Along with that, I wanted to add all new O rings, even in the magic bolt. :roll: Unfortunately, I wrongly marked the bolt with nut and now I do not know how to properly configure it. Can anyone advise me ? :)

OK! I hope this info isn't too late for you but I have had a look at my spare FDV unit that came off my previous Xantia 1.9 TD SX 1993. It is an FDV that had no modification or any service work because I swapped the FDV for one I had serviced and shimmed etc.

Anyway I measured the dimension of the screw/bolt to the outer surface of the FDV body...

The exciter tool is used by garages to activate the sensors and is used in conjunction with the Lexia. The lexia pairs new sensor(s) to the cars Inflation Detection ECU and works with the Exciter to activate the sensor. It will likely be more cost effective to get these done at a garage that has the facilities to do this.

Whilst having some work done on my estate yesterday, I noticed a lot of the fixings for the heat shield which runs almost the full length of the estate were either missing or replaced with cable ties.
