Re: Airbag opened
Not sure I understand. Are you saying the passenger airbag has fired with nobody in the seat?
Airbags are controlled by the airbag and pretensioner ECU. Exactly which airbags are triggered and the speed they are deployed depends on the impact of the crash or collision.
So if you are hit at the side of the vehicle, the front facing airbags may not be deployed at all as it would serve no purpose. The same goes for a frontal impact, which would trigger the front facing airbags but not the side or curtain airbags.
The exact speed, and the exact airbags deployed will depend on the impact zones. The airbags should never deploy without an impact.

Re: Airbag opened
Ok, so that is normal - you had an impact and the airbags did their job correctly. If it wasn't a large impact, then the airbags may only of ignited at a lower speed. It is correct that the passenger airbag also went off and that is why if you have a rear-facing baby seat in the front passenger seat, that you must turn the passenger airbag off while a baby seat is being used.
