Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

This is for a 2000 Dispatch 2.0 HDi.
Did a search here and googled but still confused, can any one help.

1. Is transponder in key blade and fob is for C/L?

That price was for the fob only, to have a key as well was extra. The man in the parts dept said it would need re programming and to go speak to the mechanic. So I did and he said it wouldn't and if there was a prob they would check it on their diagnostics.
I can only assume that he meant to re programme new fob from old one??

After driving my Xantia TD estate at highish 50-70 speeds for over half an
hour it all went pearshaped a few days back as I was opening it up on a
3 lanes carrieageway without a central reservation where I was on the

It was the pin that holds the catch and spring to the bonnet.
Strangely it looks like a large rivet type pin but I could not see any circlip, split pin etc that was holding it in and it didn't appear to have sheared.

Hello there,

I lowered the rear seat on the ZX (97 Dimension) the other day for a trip to the tip (what joy) and now it won't lock back in place. I suspect that the body shell may be twisted (put it this way, when it's time for the next MOT, I'm not going to bother, way too much rust in important places).

Is there a way of moving the 'strickers'...

Hi,
I feel compelled to thank all of the contributors to the forum regarding Xantia ABS systems. Following the various instructions I was able to diagnose the problem and fix it with no problems at all. The biggest shock was the Citroen Main Stealers price of £121 for a nearside front sensor.

i need to clear out a load of old tyres, done a google search for a company that recycle tyres in the east sussex area, the two i found dont seem to be there on a saterday,

i find companys reluctant to take waste tyres,

so who wants them free of charge and i will help you load them on you wagon

The div that lives across the road from me reversed his Mon*eo estate into the side of my poor little AX. So what was a pristine 30k mile car now has a big dent in the rear quarter. As it happens, my next door neighbour is an insurance assessor and he reckons it's about £800 worth of damage. Having stripped and cleaned the front brakes today because the near side front brake has been dragging - much more wear evident on the outside pad here. I have always thought the HB was a bit tight on this car so I have backed the cables off a couple of turns which makes things feel better. I will need to replace the pads and discs soonish, just...

Hi,
I have a wierd problem, my LHM tank on my mkII Xantia is alomost empty, but, I canot find a leak or any sign of lhm fluid anywhere. No tell tale marks of fluid leaking, no drip marks, of fluid marks that have been blown when driving. I have moved the car up and down several times to get fluid moving through the system return pipes.

hi
couple of minor problems which have raised there ugly head
first is the disply for the trip counter ,fuel consumption,etc has stuck on the trip carnt change it via the control button on steering colum,used to work fine
outside temp is now reading 36 ,i take it the fault is the sensor in the mirror
and sometimes the cruise control doesnt work...

The horn of my Citroen Berlingo Multispace 2003, has ceased to function. The battery is fine, the horn makes no sound, not even a click.The fuse is OK, I have the Haynes manual.I can use a multimeter.

I'm guessing on the Berlingo you press on an area of the airbag to blow the horn. If so, the current will travel through a rotary joint of some kind on the steering wheel. Just had my rear suspension arm bearings replaced by my local garage (too cold and wet to do it myself!!).

Job went ok, they de-pressurised the system at front and rear vent points, did one side at a time so no need to fully remove the anti roll bar or disturb the rear height sensor.

Does Anyone Have Experience of these devices
there are 4 wires ( abcd) all fed by the ECU.
On my instalation , a 1.8 16v xantia the plug is vertical
'a' being at the back and 'd' towards the rad.
At times I have an excessive tickover 2000+ nothing to do with the buttefly so I have assumed the problem lay with the above.

Can anyone recommend a decent code reader for the Xantia? Or better still a full diagnostic handheld device or relatively cheap Car to PC cable?

I've come across the draper unit but was hoping for something more advanced, like this or a cable to connect to a laptop and software.

I assume the Xantia is an OBD2 connection?

I found the supplier directly on the internet, made enquires with several of them, picked the one with the best rapport/price ratio. It came in a carry case complete with 30 pin adapter, software and several other bits and bobs. It was delivered in less than 5 days too.

Hi all, I have a Xantia V6 1997 R reg.
I have looked at the threads for blower problems and tried to find the
right fix for my car,basically when the ignition is switched on the blower
will not work .There are 12 volts at the blower plug between the Black & Red wires,but no variation when you use the speed control. Should I look at the blower or...

Looks like the seal has gone on the brake valve on my Sister's Xantia. Anyone remember how to change it? ISTR that it can be done by 'just' undoing the valve mounts, and then there's enough room to get the seal out. Is it just a push fit in the end of the valve? Is this a job on a par with the clutch clip???

Richard it will be a walk in the park on a sunny day on the 1.8i 8v, as you can almost climb down the back of the engine there is som much space

Got my new Xantia home this afternoon, however it would seem I have charging problems, which I'm pretty sure are the fault of the alternator.

I thought I had already asked about this, maybe not...

I have identified that my Xantia's radio/cassette has a jack of some kind - I believe to accpet the input from... what? an iPod? a CD player? an MP3 player? (is an iPod an MP3 player?). Yikes I'm clearly out of touch!

After a search on the forums it seems there is confusion over the correct interval for a cambelt change on the HDi.

Does anyone know the actual interval (in mileage and/or time) that Citroen specify. Of course I would always err on the caution so what is the recommended interval?

Am just trying to sort a chart of the jobs that I do to the car...

I understand this has seen action in many Citroen Peugeot cars but I'm
trying to get one on my Activa replaced which has an inner tumbler with
rear AND front fog lights incorporated rather than just the rear fogs.

Thing is, I've got a stalk spare with just the rear fogs option and wonder
if this will only bring these on when fitted on the...

Andrew - the rear-only stalk doesn't have all the pins (spade terminals) required to operate the front foglights. They're moulded in, too - the only possible option would be a jumper connectiojn to get both on at once.
The contacts might not be able to carry the current for both sets of lights - I'd use a relay, activated by the stalk, instead.

Fancy A5 perfect bound and on new age touchy feely environmentally

Could be due to a high resistance in the starter/earth circuit. Check the voltage across the starter and compare it with that across the battery. An alternator that is running correctly should be good at keeping the battery up, they regulate at about 14v and a fully charged battery is 2.2v per cell, I make that 13.2v. Most have an output of 80...

If the doseur valve you have now has been overhauled - and still leaks badly in the return pipe - then its simply worn out.

If the LHM is dirty, or any other non-lubing stuff is put into the system, the precision parts wear and allow for leaks.

I recommand you find another doseur valve and dismantle it, to learn how it functions.

Is it possible to fit the computer display from an SX model to an LX and then get the trip information or does it require additional wiring? I was able to do the upgrade on a Saab I used to own. Lovely car but drank more than me!

Bought some spark plugs as car stutters a bit when cold and under load in low gear. Fine a higher speeds.

Just looked under the bonnet for what I thought would be a quickish job. Where are they hiding and what needs to be removed to change them. Car is a C5 1.8LX.

My front HC never worked properly from the time I got the car ( a good 6 months ago), causing the front to ride high and for it not to come back down again from the high setting on the lever unless you went right down to low and then back up again. A good exterior clean/free-off and hydraflush and new LHM has finally got it working properly again...

at the moment my citroen synergie plays up.if i am talking at a mates door step i get out of the car but don't lock it after a couple of minutes i go back to the car but it does not start it sounds like the imobileizer has not switched off no mater how many times i try it just will not start.on occations i have left the car ther and walked back...

N reg XANT 1.9 TD hatch

rear fog lamps dont work, the switch lights up as its spozt to but no power to the rear of car, and a live missing from the relay socket,

previous owner/s have cut open the ruber duckting between the body and tail gate at the O/S, i have pulled the insulatting tape off but no sign of a break in the wire

Hello again,
I have a 2000 Dispatch and trying to find parts seems nigh impossible.
I have just had to fork out £120 for a rubber pipe from main dealers.
After 3 hours I am totally googled out and flabbergasted...it's just a rad cap for goodness sake...( sorry for rant ).
Is there anywhere else I could find a new cap for the expansion tank other...

Hi,
just noticed a bit of oil at the bottom of the intercooler so my mate took off the bottom pipe but there was hardly any oil in the pipe so i took off the top pipe and there was a little oil in the one that connects to the intake is there a way that the oil could be coming in from one of the little pipes or something around the top of the...

My Mk1 V6 (hydroactive II) has got a small LHM leak. It has lost about 300ml in 2 months.

The leak is somehere between near the rear LH corner of the car. There was quite a lot of LHM on the pipe tray running under the fuel tank, and some on the rear subframe under the suspension ram, but the sphere, suspension ram, height corrector and...

Had LHM leaking from the driver’s side front strut pipe when the car was 56,000 km old.
They silver soldered where it was leaking and removed the clamp that holds the pipe to the inner wing to allow flexing of the pipe over more length.
I also stuck a piece of sponge between the pipe and the inner wing to prevent chafing.
The car has clocked up...

Recently my fuel consumption has started to increase. I used to be able to do 420 - 450 miles before the fuel light came on and its dropped suddenly to about 350, yesterday it came on after 335 although i know i can do best part of 100 miles with the light on.

I also noticed that my coolant temperature isn't getting very high, about 70 -75...

Just browsing through the engine bay after my Xantia fell into a coma today and realised that I still have the temporary fix for the thick hydraulic pump return pipe to stop air being sucked in. Its on the bend right above the pump. I did look to see if I could get a new pipe from the stealers but they wanted £120 for the whole octopus :shock:...

I have a length of green garden hose on Cassy as I accidently sliced through the pipe with my sphere tool :oops:

It's working a treat, but to prevent kinks I take it up to the top of the engine, over the induction pipes and straight onto the resevoir.

Hi everyone

A lady friend of mine has a problem with starting her Xsara 1.6 from cold or should i say keeping it going.

Sounds very much like the cold start isn't working and it needs plenty of throttle to stop it from stalling.

Any ideas? I know details are a little sketchy but any help is appreciated.

i think the 1.6 is similar to the 1.4 (ie mine), the stepper motor is seperate to the housing, its at the back of the engine-not to difficult to get to.

There have been several changes noted by different part numbers..

Non-Hydractive: Up to RPO 8208 (early 1999?), then from 8209 through 8518, then one afterwards until cessation of the model.

Hydractive: Up to RPO 8056 (late 1998?) then another P/N until cessation.

After very favourable findings using Shell V-max diesel my father used,
I decided it was worth treating my 1996 TD Xantia SX estate to some on
the way to it's new MOT. That's all fine and dandy but I didn't realise the
v-max is unleaded as well as diesel and spread randomly on different
pumps around the local Shell garage.
